Chapter 1469: They Enter
The three Dragonborn looked at one another in silence. Hesitation and doubt was clearly visible on their faces, but there was also their determination on those faces.
Eventually, they would have to confront the part of themselves that had the potential to become an uncontrollable calamity. Knowing that such a terrifying power slept within their souls was not something anyone could easily accept.
"Are you two ready?" Eccar asked as he looked at Aesa and Sylven. The usual playfulness that always accompanied his expression had completely disappeared. For once, he looked solemn and serious.
Aesa simply nodded. Her face remained calm and cold as always, but the slight tension in her eyes betrayed what was inside her mind right now.
Sylven let out a long sigh before deciding to speak honestly about what was inside his mind. "I’m scared. I’m not going to lie. But I think it’s better to confront it on our own terms rather than letting it catch us off guard someday."
"Right," Eccar said with a small nod. "I think so too."
Erend silently agreed with their words. That had been his own mindset when he first confronted the Black Rage.
After personally experiencing just how terrifying it was to lose himself to that power, he understood better than anyone that facing it willingly was far preferable to becoming its victim during battle.
Without wasting any more time, Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven sat down cross-legged on the chamber floor exactly as Erend had done before.
The moment they settled into position, gentle white light flowed from the Sky Anchor’s crystalline body and enveloped the three Dragonborn. A soothing warmth spread throughout their bodies and immediately calmed their restless hearts.
"I will help all of you," the Sky Anchor said softly inside their minds.
The three of them slowly closed their eyes. Although meditation was not something they practiced regularly, achieving a state of mindfulness proved surprisingly easy for Dragonborn. Their minds had always been extraordinarily powerful and disciplined by nature. Once they focused themselves completely, they quickly entered a deep meditative state.
Erend and Velrion stood nearby and silently observed them.
Velrion’s expression was particularly tense. Unlike Erend, this was the first time he had witnessed multiple Dragonborn attempting to confront the Black Rage simultaneously.
"What do you think will happen?" Velrion asked quietly.
Erend remained silent for several moments before answering.
"They’ll be fine," he said. "Don’t worry too much."
"Yeah?" Velrion replied before letting out a small sigh. "Well, I suppose all I can do is trust your judgment."
After that, he returned his attention to the ritual materials and began preparing everything necessary to complete the suppressing artifacts.
At this point, there was nothing Erend could do to help. He could only hope that the three of them would fare better than he had during his first encounter with the Black Rage. Or at the very least, not fare worse.
Because if they did, that would mean they had lost control.

Eccar slowly opened his eyes and immediately realized that he was standing inside his own subconscious.
However, what surprised him was not where he was but how real everything appeared.
Before him stretched a familiar landscape that he had not seen for centuries.
Towering mountains stood proudly beneath a clear sky and a peaceful village rested quietly at their feet. Wooden houses lined the dirt roads, and the gentle sound of laughter echoed through the air.
It was his village.
The place where he had been born.
The place where he had lived for a few decades before leaving it behind forever.
For several moments, Eccar simply stared at the familiar sight in silence.
He had spent a significant portion of his life here. It was where he met the woman who would become his wife. It was where he built his small family and experienced what true happiness felt like.
And it was also where he lost everything.
The memories came flooding back into his mind with overwhelming clarity.
He remembered the monsters descending upon the village. He remembered the screams of its people and the blood that stained the earth.
Most of all, he remembered losing his wife and being forced to finally embrace the power that had always slept within him.
Even as a child, Eccar had always known that he was different. He was stronger than everyone else. His body healed faster. His instincts surpassed those of ordinary humans. Yet despite knowing that, he never wanted to be different.
He wanted to live a normal life.
So he hid his true nature and pretended to be nothing more than an ordinary human.
For a few decades, he succeeded. Until fate decided that it was time to move on from that mundane life.
When the monsters came and took away the person he loved most, he could no longer continue pretending. He finally accepted the power of the Dragonborn sleeping within him and used it to protect what remained of his home.
He became a hero in the eyes of others.
But it was already too late.
The person he wanted to save the most was gone.
Eventually, his grief and rage drove him toward the Chaos Realm itself. He abandoned his former life and spent countless years hunting the creatures that had destroyed his happiness before eventually meeting Erend and fighting alongside him.
And now, after all those years, he found himself standing here once again.
A small bitter smile appeared on Eccar’s face as he looked around at the village he had long left behind. Strange emotions stirred within his heart as nostalgia, grief, and regret resurfaced all at once.
"So this is my subconscious," he muttered quietly.
He slowly took several steps forward while observing the familiar scenery around him.
Then another thought appeared inside his mind. "Is this where my Black Rage resides?"
The answer awaited him somewhere within the memories of his past.
Eccar walked deeper into the village. There was no one here for some time, but then his wife emerged.
