After receiving one final heal from Do Yehyun, I finished giving the two bastards a brief educational lecture, hauled them to their feet, and dragged them out of the Gate. Before leaving, I looked over them one by one, and they visibly flinched.
“Try quitting alcohol from now on, okay? You nearly died chugging garbage that’s bad for your body.”
“Yes, sir...!”
“Yes!”
“And stop speaking casually to people you just met. Am I your friend?”
“No, sir!”
“We won’t speak casually again!”
I casually kneaded the backs of their necks and smacked their backs hard enough to make a loud thump.
“Right, let’s go.”
“Yes!”
“Yes, boss!”
The fuck was with “boss.” When Do Yehyun said it, it at least did not sound like organized crime, but hearing it from these bastards made me feel like the head thug dragging underlings around. Frowning, I shoved them out of the Gate.
Once outside the Gate, the area was much quieter than before we entered. Judging by the absence of cameras, it seemed they had cleared out the reporters.
Only after getting outside did Han Uigeon and Choi Yujun finally relax. Their legs shook as they staggered off toward the medical team. Judging by the sniffling noises, one of them was apparently crying.
One of the police officers guarding the outside of the Gate approached us and greeted us.
“Were you alright? You should go receive support from the medical team—”
“We’re fine. I came with a healer.”
“Ah, yes. We’ll check the mana levels and lift the Gate lockdown shortly. I understand Haeseong will handle the official Gate-clear report.”
“Yes. Can we go?”
“Yes, sir. Thank you for your hard work!”
“Good work.”
Just as I finished returning the greeting and was about to leave with Do Yehyun, Choi Yujun hovered nearby looking like he obviously had something to say. The moment our eyes met, the bastard apparently took that as permission and cautiously approached before bowing his head.
“Thank you for saving us!”
“Yeah.”
“W-why are you suddenly speaking formally...?”
“You got something to say?”
The bastard dug through his pocket, pulled out his phone, and abruptly shoved it toward me.
“Boss, do you happen to use InXtagram?”
What the hell was wrong with this bastard?
When I stared at him in disbelief, he awkwardly grinned and hurriedly added,
“Th-that thing earlier, clearing the Gate, was seriously cool, so I wanted to get to know you....”
“Interesting.”
“Huh?”
I quietly looked at him, then crooked the corner of my mouth.
'What is this?'
Choi Yujun. In other words...... CEO Choi Museok’s official eldest son. My “father.” The woman my father married—my stepmother—had four children with him, including Choi Yujun. Three sons and one daughter. Except for the youngest daughter, not a single one of them particularly liked me.
Personally, I thought that was unfortunate. I had been perfectly willing to treat my younger siblings well.
Of course, that did not mean I had been close with my younger sister either. The last time I had lived in that “home,” she had been three years old. Too young to build much of a relationship.
Among them, Choi Yujun had hated me especially badly. He used to curse me out regularly and throw all kinds of tantrums until I beat the shit out of him enough times that he finally tucked his tail between his legs. Then, around the time I turned fifteen, I saved his life once, and after that our relationship became completely ruined.
'Ungrateful bastard.'
No matter the world, he really was stingy toward the person who saved his life.
I lowered my gaze to Choi Yujun’s phone screen. After glancing at me nervously, he hurriedly continued.
“If you don’t use InXta, maybe at least your number.... I do Hunter support events and stuff too. I’m unawakened, but my family sponsors guilds and things...! Um, you were in SH, right? Our business is connected with them too.”
“Is that your money?”
“Huh? Ah, no. But I’m the eldest son anyway....”
I could not hold back a short laugh.
Right. This really was the first time I had met someone from the original world here. And someone this deeply connected to “my” past at that...... in a situation like this.
'This is funny.'
Just how conveniently had this world been rearranged for even a bastard like this to not recognize me and start talking about wanting to get close? I looked pityingly at the younger brother babbling nonsense, then cleanly ignored him and turned away.
“Brother? H-Hunter?”
Brother my ass.
Just as I was about to ignore him and leave, a sudden question crossed my mind. This really was the first time I had seen someone from my original world. Then if I revealed “myself” to this bastard...... would that create a problem with plausibility?
I looked back at Choi Yujun.
“Hey. You know me.”
“Huh...? Yes, I know you.”
“No, not that.”
I cut him off firmly. Choi Yujun blinked blankly in confusion.
'Stupid bastard.'
I walked up to him, lightly kicked the tip of his shoe, and lowered my voice.
“You know me.”
“...What?”
“Your father....”
Even after going that far, the Status Window remained silent. Narrowing my eyes, I continued.
“He caused an accident once.”
Even after finishing the sentence, no warning window appeared.
“Haha....”
In a way, it was obvious. This had nothing to do with the future plot or Kwon Taehan. It was my personal business.
At the same time, however, the “Seo Jehyun” in this world existed in an incomplete state, stripped of a past.
In other words, all of my personal history had been deleted and distorted. At first, I thought it was simply for convenience. The me from the original world and the “Seo Jehyun” here were different beings, after all.
But had I not witnessed countless previous regressions through dreams, or through my subconscious? And in one of those timelines, “Seo Jehyun” had even told Kwon Taehan about “my” family history.
Not anyone else’s.
Mine.
'Fundamentally, I am Seo Jehyun.'
'Then how is this possible?'
Should I just dismiss this as another aspect of divine omnipotence? No. That did not feel right.
The “Seo Jehyun” in this world definitely existed. School records remained. Military service records remained. There was even evidence of dropping out of college. But no matter how much I searched for people who should have known me, there was no “Seo Jehyun” in any of their memories.
'How?'
As though answering the question, Im Haekyung’s voice replayed in my head.
“The mind is... ultimately something that belongs to the individual. It’s unique, and no matter how much I touch and manipulate it, I can’t completely delete or change it. I can make someone believe something, or block memories here and there to cause confusion. Suppression is similar. Since I can’t make it disappear completely, I sink it all the way to the bottom. So it can’t be consciously drawn out....”
According to them, my memories had been deleted while my mind itself remained suppressed. So I could not access those deleted memories.
But was I really the only one?
'Or everyone who knew ‘Seo Jehyun’?'
Why exactly was I erased? No, by whom? Was it done by God? Then what was supposed to be gained by erasing me?
For the first time in a long while, I found myself asking a fundamental question.
I crooked the corner of my mouth, snatched the phone from Choi Yujun’s hand, saved my number, and called my own phone.
After tossing the phone back to him, I spoke.
“If I contact you, answer.”
“Brother, but was that thing earlier a yo-mama joke?”
What the hell was this bastard talking about?
I stared at him like he was pathetic and tossed out the answer.
“What else would it be?”

After leaving the scene, we got back into the car to return. Since I had made Do Yehyun drive on the way here too, the admirable bastard now climbed into the driver’s seat on his own.
“How’s driving?”
“I think I need to do it a few more times before I get used to it.”
“Relax. Driving’s originally about making the other guy dodge.”
“.......”
Do Yehyun blinked at me like he had found about twelve different counterarguments at once. I casually ignored him and smiled.
After fastening his seatbelt and entering the destination, Do Yehyun hesitated briefly before starting the engine and asked,
“You know that person from earlier, don’t you?”
“Mr. Choi Yujun?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah.”
When I admitted it easily, Do Yehyun nodded.
Then he asked something I had never expected.
“Are you family?”
“.......”
This was a little beyond simply being perceptive, wasn’t it?
I paused halfway through fastening my seatbelt and asked back,
“Why would you think that?”
“I heard what you said earlier. About Choi Yujun’s father causing an accident.”
“Right.”
“You usually aren’t interested in things like that. So I thought... if you knew about it, it was probably related to you somehow.”
Do Yehyun continued calmly.
“And once I thought that, a lot of things started fitting. You always had money from the beginning, your clothes are neat... and you’re smart too. Like someone who was taught those things properly.”
“.......”
“I also thought about what you said before, about your parents being dead. You said your father hated you going to see your mother....”
“You inferred the context from that conversation?”
I had only given the simple hint that he had “caused an accident,” yet somehow he had pieced it together. Do Yehyun silently confirmed it.
Turning toward him, I asked,
“But I said both of them were dead.”
Again, the answer came without hesitation.
“I think my uncle is dead too.”
“Ah....”
Do Yehyun’s uncle was the one who had dumped an enormous debt on him. In other words, he was asking if I treated my “father” like a dead man.
I was genuinely impressed.
Do Yehyun’s deduction was only possible because he knew almost nothing about me beforehand. Pure speculation from someone who had never seen the neatly organized records about me. Someone who had never encountered any contradictions.
Looking at Do Yehyun, who had pieced together a past that was almost completely correct, I impulsively grabbed his chin.
When I kissed him as he lifted his gaze to look at me, he immediately parted his lips as if he had been waiting for it.
A laugh slipped between our pressed lips as I tilted my head and pushed my tongue into his mouth. The moment I rubbed against his soft tongue and swept upward, Do Yehyun’s body trembled violently. I gripped the back of his neck tightly so his head could not retreat and properly sucked at his lips.
“Hngh....”
It had been a long time since I kissed someone. It felt pleasant.
Had Do Yehyun expected I would kiss him?
Goosebumps had risen around the part of his neck my hand touched. I gently stroked over the spot while roughly sucking on his tongue. Small pained sounds escaped him whenever pain sparked from the taut pull of his tongue. After sucking on it to my satisfaction, I swept the tip of my tongue across the roof of his mouth. Past the rough ridges, over the sensitive spots, all the way to the place beneath his tongue where saliva pooled.
Every time I stirred around inside his soft cheek or lightly bit his tongue and lower lip, his body flinched as if it hurt, but he never once pulled away.
As though he had been waiting for this moment.
The hand rubbing the back of his neck slowly moved lower, stroking down his shoulder. When I stopped stirring through his mouth with my tongue and lightly bit his lower lip, a soft moan escaped him.
“Ah...!”
“You like it?”
Instead of answering, Do Yehyun stuck his tongue out slightly and lightly licked across my upper lip.
The moment I silently pressed our lips together again, his tongue immediately slipped into my mouth. As if imitating my kiss, Do Yehyun licked through my mouth here and there. He could not be called skilled, but he was not completely clumsy either.
In other words, he was not used to kissing in general, but he acted as if he was used only to kissing me.
I let him play with my tongue and lips for a long while before slowly pulling away.
“Did you expect it?”
At my question, Do Yehyun slowly lifted his gaze and answered with a flushed face.
“No....”
Instead of giving a proper response, I lightly pressed my lips to his cheek before pulling away.
“Shall we go?”
Only then did Do Yehyun belatedly nod and finally start the engine. Gripping the steering wheel tightly with both hands, he hesitated for a long moment before asking,
“Was this... your way of praising me?”
