Chapter 171: Chapter 171: The End

Kana sighed deeply. "You know we will get into trouble if someone suspects us to kill an Awakened, right?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Blaze shrugged again. "Please, Mother. No one will be remembering that useless pig. Besides, I am an S-rank. No one will mess with me."

Kana laughed out loud. "Nice joke, Blaze. I would like to suddenly become an S-Rank also."

But Blaze didn’t laugh with her. He looked one hundred percent serious.

"You’re not joking? Do you even know how powerful an S-Rank is?" Kana said.

Blaze pulled her out of the house and showed her the blue magical wand that was named Blue Bolt.

"Rather than convincing you, why don’t I just show you?" Blaze pointed the wand at the sky. A thick pillar of lightning shot out from the tip of the wand and shot at the cloud layer above.

Kana shuddered. Her entire body shrunk back because of the loud thunderous noise.

"You... You really are powerful! Even if you aren’t S-Rank, you must be A-Rank for sure!" After the initial surprise, Kana jumped up in joy. She couldn’t believe the blinding large beam of lightning that she just saw.

It wasn’t simply just spectacle but actual, powerful ability. Kana couldn’t even remember anyone with such a devastating attack similar to Blaze. He must be the most powerful Awakened she had ever seen.

"Blaze... Newfound power is great. But you need to stay humble, dear. Don’t ever forget that there can still be people out there that might be more powerful than you. They can be much much more powerful. To a level that you can’t even comprehend."

Kana grabbed Blaze’s hands and talked to her heart content. Power changes people and power corrupts. Blaze had a harsh life but he was a good kid. Kana didn’t want him to turn into something unrecognizable. Something that had even the slightest of similarities to that useless pig called Phuc.

"It’s alright, Mother. You can rest assured that I won’t get over my head. I will always be humble and remember what you have taught me." Blaze spoke softly.

He wasn’t just saying it for Kana to be assured. He truly meant it. After all, he saw the giant dragon that erased the entire Undercity in seconds.

In front of that entity, all his powers, all his items, all his skills, all his experiences were useless. He knew from the bottom of his heart that he was very weak.

Suddenly, Blaze remembered Alyson. She was trapped in that place with him and she was supposed to arrive three years later because of the time differences. Blaze had gone back in time, but what about her?

"Is Alyson here? Is she safe?" All sorts of questions flooded Blaze’s mind.

He remembered that a Void Gate was supposed to be summoned tonight. He and Alyson would both be sucked into the Void and would soon need to fight their way out of it.

Back in the original timeline, Alyson was present at the school. Logically speaking, she should be at school or she would be going to school shortly.

Blaze needed to be there to help her and protect her. She couldn’t allow her to be kidnapped once again.

"Mother... I’m afraid we would need to postpone our celebration for today." Blaze sighed deeply.

"Why is that, kiddo? Is there something wrong?" Kana looked concerned. She grabbed Blaze’s arm to comfort him.

"There will be a voidgate opening tonight. It will affect the entire city. I will be pulling into it. What you need to do is stay inside the house and stay safe. Lock every door, don’t open them to anyone." Blaze said.

"How do you know this, Blaze?" Kana mumbled.

"Let’s just say a pretty little bird told me." Blaze smiled.

Kana stared at him blankly which made the boy scratch his head.

"You may be an Awakened now but you’re still my son, Blaze." Kana said.

Blaze sighed deeply, "I know, mom..."

Kana hugged Blaze one last time. "Return to me in one piece, alright? Do what you need to do."

Blaze embraced his mother. "I will, mom."

With that, Blaze went away and headed to the city. His entire body was covered in lightning as he dashed on the street. Blaze became invisible to the naked eye.

He wasn’t simply a blur. He was too fast for anyone to comprehend, leaving only a trail of lightning and the thunderous noise of the air breaking apart.

On his way to the city, he went past Jake and his girlfriend, Veronica. The two poor souls who were killed by Blaze simply because of their arrogance. They were on their way inside their fancy car to a party of some sort.

"Tonight is going to be great, Veronica!" Jake laughed. His hair blew in the wind.

"It sure will, Jake." Veronica chuckled softly. They didn’t even know that they were supposed to be killed by Blaze.

The lightning went past them and the both of them shuddered because of the thunderous noise. They didn’t see Blaze, only a blinding streak of lightning.

"What was that?" Veronica mumbled.

Jake shook his head. He turned his head back to the city and saw the streak of lightning leading into the city.

"Probably an Awakened. At least A-Rank. They are very powerful." Jake said.

"Should we..."

"We shouldn’t do anything, Veronica. Let’s just mind our business."

The pair drove away.

Blaze dashed through the complex system of city streets and found his way into the school. It was Prom Night and everyone was gathering to party.

Alyson was there, with her blazing red hair and a black leather jacket. She sat on the rooftop alone, looking up onto the clear blue sky.

Then she heard the thunder. Suddenly, a blinding streak of lightning ran straight up on the wall of the school.

It landed beside Alyson. And when all the electricity dissipated away, only Blaze was there, standing silently.

Alyson widened her eyes. Then she smiled.

"I thought you weren’t going."

Blaze smiled back. "I can’t let you down..."

"Again."
