Chapter 33: Chapter 33: The Undead Army falls

The man pushed the armored undead off its horse, then he withdrew the axe in one swift motion before driving it back into the same spot with even greater force.

The only difference? The undead was no longer riding on its back.

The axe collided with the armored horse in an instant and the horse let out a war cry. Instead of backing down, the horse, with a powerful surge, lifted its forelegs high, balancing on its hind legs.

Before anyone could react, the legs came crashing down on the man’s body. However, before it could succeed, the man grabbed the legs of the horse tightly with only one hand.

The man held them so tightly that the vein in his arm bulged and became visible. The man wrapped his other arm across the horse’s body and lifted the horse.

As he lifted the horse, sweat dripped from his forehead. All the veins in his body had bulged and were visible to him.

With all his might, the man threw the horse towards the rapidly closing army. The horse slammed into the approaching wave of undead, crashing some under its weight while other undead lost balance due to the impact and fell to the ground.

The coordination of the undead army was utterly destroyed right now.

Seizing this opportunity the man jumped onto the moving Devil Slayer’s back before Riven could even react. He let out a roar, his voice carrying urgency.

"Tell this beast to run faster you fools!"

Riven wanted to throw the man off but remembering how effortlessly he lifted the horse and threw it... all such thoughts left his mind.

Even if Riven tried... he would probably fail miserably considering the fact that the man had thrown the leader of the army off his horse.

Then proceeded to lift the horse and throw it like a boulder to attack the incoming wave of undead.

He couldn’t even think about doing that to a monster whose level was so much higher than his own.

Still, he didn’t want to let the man ride without knowing his identity but before he could say anything... Ayala’s voice resounded through his ears.

"Minister! Look behind you!"

Riven turned his head behind him. A barrage of arrows was charging towards them. Worse, an arrow was charging towards his head and it was just a few inches away from him.

He won’t be able to dodge in time. He didn’t even have the mana to manifest a weapon to block the incoming attack...

His mind raced as he thought of a way to survive...

Before he could find a solution, the man swung his sword towards him and cut the arrow which was just a few inches away from them in half.

The man wasn’t done... far from it.

He swung his sword right then left and then thrust his sword forward, cutting down every single arrow in the process.

The man glared at him and said.

"Tell this wolf to run faster."

Riven frowned. Now was he supposed to listen to the command of a stranger? Even if the man had saved him... he couldn’t trust someone who wore a robe with that symbol.

No matter what happens...

Just then, Ayala’s voice resounded through his ears.

"Mister, tell it to run faster! Otherwise we will die!"

Riven looked back at the army. Countless projectiles were charging towards them and the army of undead was just a few inches away from them.

If the devil slayer didn’t accelerate then they would catch up to them and afterwards... only death awaited them.

Even the man who saved them didn’t seem confident in fighting the entire army of undead. So it’s safe to assume the worst.

But he wasn’t sure if the wolf could run faster or not. However, he had to try otherwise they would die.

Left with no choice, he gritted his teeth and commanded.

"Run with everything you have!!"

Nothing changed. Devil Slayer kept running at the same speed as before. He didn’t think that it was a sign of disobedience but rather... Devil Slayer was already running at its maximum speed.

There was no way to run faster.

Just then one of the undead grabbed Devil Slayer’s tail causing it to slow down. Devil Slayer roared and shook its body in an effort to break free but it failed.

Before Riven could even do anything, the man drove his axe into the head of the undead and pulled it out in an instant. As sand leaked out from the wound, the man kicked the undead off Devil Slayer’s body.

Devil Slayer continued running with everything it had but the distance between the undead and them was just a few inches.

They would catch up to them in a few seconds to minutes.

They must do something else to outrun them.

The man’s gaze swept across the entire battlefield then the man glared back at them and said.

"Hold tight."

A blue aura engulfed the man’s body and the aura was expanding in all directions. Not slowly but rapidly in every direction.

The moment it touched his body, a terrifying headache ripped through his head. A headache so severe that it made even maintaining consciousness difficult.

He grabbed his head with his two hands and cursed.

"Fuck... what did this man do to me!"

This was happening again, the blue aura engulfing the man touched him. So the man was obviously responsible.

Riven tilted his head and saw the man on its knees gasping for air. This wasn’t all... every single undead who was lunging towards them just a moment ago, had collapsed to the ground.

Let alone following them, a few undead tried to stand up but they fell to the ground the moment they even tried.

Riven ignored the headache and glanced at the man on his knees.

This was his work.

Riven gulped a mouthful of saliva and mumbled.

"He is dangerous... very dangerous."

And he didn’t even know the reason behind the man saving them. His identity also made him very difficult for him to trust him.
