Chapter 421: Chapter 421: Don’t Go, I Have the Goods

"My sister was so amazing..." Claire Sinclair sighed wistfully.

The thought made her sad. ’If only my sister were still alive...’

Adrian Quincy seemed to see right through her, saying in a low voice, "Claire, everyone’s life has meaning. If you don’t want to have any regrets about your sister, then help me find the real killer."

"What do I need to do?" Claire Sinclair asked.

A sharp glint flashed in Adrian Quincy’s eyes. He said in a low voice, "I have an idea, but I can’t tell you right now. I’ll explain everything before we leave."

Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath, "Why not just tell me now."

"This is all related to your sister. I’m worried it would upset you."

"Alright, then." Claire Sinclair relented, knowing he was looking out for her.

’It’s fine,’ she thought. ’A few days’ delay won’t make a difference to me anyway.’

Adrian Quincy suddenly stood, walked to her side, and bent down to kiss her forehead. "I have to go back to the residence for a bit. You have nothing on today, so get some rest. This morning wore you out. Remember to eat something if you get hungry."

A blush crept up Claire’s face. She reached out and grabbed his large hand. "Do you think I’ll be able to get pregnant?"

The corners of Adrian Quincy’s lips curved up. "Having a child is up to fate. It’ll happen when it’s meant to happen."

’He was feeding her those platitudes again.’

Jasmine Sinclair was about to lose her patience. She was fuming.

’Damn it!’ she thought. ’Once I’m a top socialite, I’ll make these arrogant bastards who look down on everyone pay!’

After what felt like an eternity, she finally saw Vincent Webb’s assistant walk in. But Vincent Webb himself was nowhere to be seen. Jasmine’s anger flared.

The assistant sat down across from her and said politely, "Miss Sinclair, the Chairman was called into an urgent meeting and won’t be able to make it. My apologies."

Jasmine’s face darkened. "Oh, I should forgive him? Who’s going to apologize to me? Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting? Two hours! From noon until two!"

The assistant gave a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. "Miss Sinclair, the Chairman said that if you don’t have anything substantial to offer, you shouldn’t waste his time. And I’d ask you not to waste mine, either."

With that, he made a move to stand up and leave.

Jasmine was stunned. She couldn’t believe even a lowly assistant was treating her with such disrespect. Her anger surged, but for the sake of her future, she had to swallow her pride.

Jasmine quickly stopped him. "Wait, don’t go! I have dirt."

The assistant feigned hesitation before sitting back down, waiting for her to speak.

Afraid he would leave again, Jasmine quickly cut to the chase. "Claire Sinclair’s father was jailed for domestic violence, and her ex-boyfriend was locked up for rape. Isn’t that enough dirt for you?"

The assistant’s brows furrowed slightly. "That really happened?"

"Of course. And the real kicker is, Claire Sinclair was set up by her own father and sent right to Young Master Quincy’s bed. How else do you think she won his favor? She seduced him with her body, that’s how," Jasmine said with total conviction.

The assistant still seemed unconvinced. "So you’re saying Claire Sinclair and Young Master Quincy are having an illicit affair?"

Jasmine elaborated with relish, "Illicit? It’s far worse than that. Claire Sinclair is just a mistress Young Master Quincy has been keeping on the side. If he wasn’t backing her, do you really think she could become Aridia’s number one female journalist? Heh... Her, on her own merit?"

The assistant couldn’t resist asking, "What makes you think she doesn’t deserve to be the top journalist?"
