Chapter 412: Chapter 412: An Invitation from Princess Morinka
Claire Sinclair sighed softly and took a step back. Head bowed, she murmured, "I’m just a normal woman. I want a boyfriend who’s gentle and considerate, someone who can be there to take care of me when I’m sick—not a man who’s impossible to reach even after countless calls. Can you understand?"
Hearing her words, Ethan Kingsley felt a pang of understanding, even sympathy.
Adrian Quincy was a man who had it all, except for his cold, ruthless personality. That was something everyone could see. ’No wonder this young woman is complaining.’
"In that case, it’s for the best that you broke up with him. I support your decision."
"Mr. Kingsley, I’m really out of options. Vincent Webb is rich and powerful, and he’s the Astoria Daily’s biggest advertiser. I can’t afford to offend him. Please, will you help me?"
Ethan Kingsley smiled. "How would you like me to help you?"
Claire Sinclair took a deep breath and said with a completely serious expression, "I’d like to be your date for tonight. If you can just help me get through the evening safely, I’ll ask Teacher Hartwell for help when I get back. Is that okay?"
"Alright," Ethan Kingsley agreed without hesitation.
’A beautiful woman was throwing herself into his arms. Why wouldn’t he oblige?’
Claire Sinclair gave him a small smile and took the initiative, linking her arm with his. "Mr. Kingsley, I’m a bit hungry. Could you take me to get something to eat?"
Ethan Kingsley’s gaze fell, landing on the arm she had linked with his.
’If any other woman had touched him so brazenly, he would have recoiled and pushed her away. But for some reason, he didn’t feel that same sense of revulsion with her.’
"Alright." The corner of Ethan Kingsley’s mouth lifted in a smile. Ever the gentleman, he was careful not to touch her hand as he led her toward the dining area.
Around the corner.
The middle-aged man pulled out his phone and called Vincent Webb to report. "Chairman, Claire Sinclair is with Ethan Kingsley. They just went into the dining area."
-
In truth, Claire Sinclair wasn’t hungry. She just needed an excuse to get away from the crowd.
There wasn’t much to eat in the dining area—just fruit platters and an assortment of pastries.
Claire Sinclair nibbled on a few pieces of fruit and already felt full. She was just wondering what excuse she could use to slip away from him when Aiden Howkins walked in.
"Miss Sinclair, Princess Morinka has sent for you."
"Huh?" Claire Sinclair froze. ’Princess Morinka is looking for me?’
Ethan Kingsley was also surprised. "What would Morinka want with you?"
Claire Sinclair shook her head. "I have no idea."
Aiden Howkins said, "Miss Sinclair, if you please."
Claire Sinclair nodded. Before leaving, she said politely to Ethan Kingsley, "Mr. Kingsley, thank you for helping me out of that jam. I’ll head over now. Goodbye."
Ethan Kingsley watched her walk away, a playful glint slowly appearing in his eyes.
’Morinka sought her out instead of him. Was her objective that clear?’
Claire Sinclair was led into a resplendent hall. There, at a uniquely carved wooden table, sat Princess Morinka and Adrian Quincy, facing each other. The princess’s back was to the door.
Adrian Quincy’s cold gaze swept over to her, his face devoid of emotion.
Noticing his gaze shift, Princess Morinka immediately turned around. In broken Mandarin, she said, "Miss Sinclair, it is a true pleasure to finally meet you in person."
’To have learned those phrases, Princess Morinka must have done her homework before coming here.’
Claire Sinclair walked forward but didn’t dare to take a seat, stopping between the two of them. She parted her lips and said, "Princess Morinka, it’s a pleasure to meet you, too."
Apparently, that was the extent of Princess Morinka’s Mandarin. When she spoke again, it was in English. "I’ve heard about you. Your articles have incredible depth and a strong social impact. You’re a remarkable reporter!"
