Chapter 339: Chapter 339: Heartfelt Confession

Claire Sinclair said with an amused laugh, "How many more times can you come looking for me? You’re about to become president, and I still haven’t accomplished anything."

"In your eyes, what does it mean to be successful?"

"I don’t know."

Adrian Quincy looked at her downcast face, his heart aching. In a low voice, he said, "Claire, I don’t want my wife to be able to slay enemies with her own hands. I hold great power; I want my people to protect her, just as they protect all our citizens, so she can live on this land without a care in the world.

"I also don’t want her to be too strong-willed, because I’m a very driven person myself. I hope she can be a little sweeter; our personalities would complement each other, allowing us to get along better and become a model couple for the world to see. That way, the people will feel a greater sense of happiness.

"And I certainly don’t want her to have some incredible set of skills. The more she knows and the more she gets involved in, the more tiring her life will be. I want my wife to be the happiest First Lady in the world, not an extension of myself who has to suffer alongside me. This is the future I want."

Having laid bare his innermost thoughts, Adrian Quincy looked at her pretty face, full of expectation, hoping for some kind of reaction.

Claire Sinclair shook her head. Though her mind was still rational, her head was spinning more and more. "If that’s the kind of woman you want, they’re a dime a dozen out there. It doesn’t have to be me..."

"If you must know the reason why it has to be you, I can tell you the answer right now."

"The answer...? What answer?" Claire Sinclair’s vision blurred, and her head grew foggier. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

She instinctively threw back the covers and was surprised to see a pair of man’s feet...

Damn!

’What the hell???’

Claire Sinclair cautiously crept to the other side of the bed and saw the man lying there quietly.

’But what happened last night?’

Claire Sinclair tried her best to remember what happened after she got drunk, but she couldn’t recall a single thing. She had completely blacked out.

She vaguely remembered Adrian Quincy whispering something in her ear before she passed out, but she couldn’t recall what he had said.

’Given the current situation, he couldn’t have taken advantage of me, could he?’

’That would be too horrible!!!’

’I’m definitely never touching alcohol again!’

Claire Sinclair silently vowed.

’That said, what should I do now?’

’Should I do what they do in those cheesy romance novels—leave a wad of cash and sneak away?’

’Or maybe I should just knock him out and then run...’

’Idiot!’

Claire Sinclair cursed herself internally. ’What kind of nonsense am I thinking?’

’We’ve already slept together. What’s the point of running away?’
