Volume 3: The Crimson Serpent Runs Wild.

Knock. Knock.
"Brother... Are you polishing that egg again??" A silver-haired woman peeked inside the room as she watched him do the same task for what seemed like the millionth time.
A giant man was sitting on the floor with his back turned on her. He had multiple scars running on his back, with long curly black hair, and muscles that seemed to be alive.
"Ah, yes. Just give me a moment, Sylvia. I will be downstairs soon." The man answered with his back turned against her, appearing to be completely focusing on his current task.
"All right, but brother... Don’t blame yourself too much. It was a choice Aunt Ruby made herself, you know. You are not to blame. So... You should just stop blaming yourself for now; I will be waiting for you." Sylvia gently shut that door behind her, leaving him alone in the room.
Raiden didn’t say anything as she left. He just focused on his task of polishing the crimson egg in his hands. After ten minutes of meticulous cleaning, he made sure the egg was shining once again before nodding and putting it down.
He put his hand on top of the egg, feeling the life inside getting brighter and brighter. The egg was close to hatching.
’Soon, very soon. I will see you again, Aunt Ruby.’
It had been three months since the war ended. Three gruelling months.
The war was cited as one of the most devastating wars in recent years. And it wasn’t just because of Verdant Hollow, but the entire province.
The Terra Beast Horde’s scale this time was absolutely massive, as they hit the entire human territory together, every single one of them.
And since all the cities were attacked together, they were not able to reinforce each other like they usually do.
This caused humans to suffer a massive loss of life.
Tens of cities failed to defend themselves against the Beast Horde and fell prey to it. This resulted in the massive loss of human lives, with multiple cities completely being wiped off the map.
According to the news, at least 2 billion people died in this last Beast Horde. It was a completely absurd number of people, completely subverting Raiden’s understanding of how brutal a war can be.
Ironically, Verdant Hollow was one of the cities that suffered the least amount of damage thanks to Woolie, Neva and Ruby.
They were also one of the rare few cities that were successful in resisting and eradicating their enemies completely, making it one of the most peaceful cities.
This caused immigration to surge in large numbers as many new faces started to move into the city looking for safety.
Raiden too became a war hero, attracting gazes of attention and worship wherever he went. But he would rather have his aunt here with him than these gazes. Fame wasn’t important to him at all; family was.
But what was done was done, and he couldn’t change the outcome now. All he could do right now was take care of this crimson egg as best as he could. He had a feeling that this egg was connected to his aunt somehow.
With nothing else to do in these past 3 months and his system being offline, Raiden threw himself into the deep end of the training.
He woke up every day, took care of his farm, then trained from morning till midnight.
Without a system to quantify it, Raiden had no idea how strong he had become. But at least he stabilised his realm at Golden Tier Battle Master, with Neva soon advancing one month after he got promoted on the Battlefield.
There was a gigantic pillar of golden light that fell on top of her when she got promoted, attracting attention from the city. As soon as they saw who it was, they all went back to their work quietly. What a joke; who dared to bother Raiden, someone who had a Mythical Guardian?
While she may have died in the battle, who knows what other kind of protection she left behind for him. No one dared to bet their life on it.
This allowed him to have feedback from two gold Terra Beasts, making him even stronger, and he grew even crazier with the training.
Half the time he passed out while training, and it was Sylvia or Woolie who carried him back to the house at night. He had already been scolded multiple times for doing this by many people, but Raiden didn’t stop; he didn’t dare to stop.
He still remembered the feeling of powerlessness he felt on the battlefield, and he never wanted to experience that feeling in his life ever again. The feeling of not being powerful enough, the feeling of not being able to save your loved ones, the feeling of watching them die in front of your own eyes.
Raiden never wanted to experience those same feelings ever again. He made a vow to himself that day.
"This is the last loss against any opponent. From now on, I will never lose again!!"
So he trained with reckless abandon, pushing his body as far as he could while also deepening his coordination with Woolie and Neva.
He went from a guy who was never interested in training and just wanted to slack off to a training manic who wanted to do it 24/7.
Due to the new powers he gained recently, he was able to play a much more active role in Terra Beasts’ battles with Woolie and Neva.
But Raiden took a day off from training today because today was a very special day. Today was the day he had been waiting for for the past three months.
The day he could get help to solve all his problems.
Raiden looked at the time on his watch as he started counting down silently in his mind.
