Chapter 38: Life Will Get Better

Faced with Dean’s sudden mood swings, the trio didn’t know what to say.

To be honest, Raviel in particular did not want to lose a newly formed friendship, let alone one as precious as this.

Dean had clearly seen the stress on the trio’s faces and said, "Don’t worry, I’m not angry or anything; I just wanted to know."

With that, he had managed to look around comfortably.

In the distance, perhaps a kilometre away, he’d managed to spot an incredibly large castle.

The young man smiled and said, "That’s a big castle, Lady Raviel."

Raviel’s stressed expression vanished instantly, and the young woman smiled, replying, "I tried to get the best one, sir."

Dean rolled his eyes and said, "Drop the ’sir’, please. If we’re trusting each other, if we’re going to be friends, I’d rather we use first names."

As he said this, he added, "Percival."

Ghost immediately stepped out of his shadow and asked, "Yes, my lord?"

"Go and choose a room for yourself," Dean said.

He dismissed Percival, then turned to Raviel and asked, "Well? Aren’t you going to show me round the castle?"

Raviel sprang to his feet and said, "Please follow me, sir---I mean, Dean."

Dean, listening to him, stood up and began to walk forward.

The castle... was absolutely beautiful.

Thanks to its size, it had a total of 42 rooms. At the back of the castle there was a flower garden, a small basketball court, a tennis court and a viewing area to watch the sea from the top of the hill.

There were many small houses around the castle for the servants to live in.

Inside the castle, there were three kitchens, twelve toilets, six bathrooms and three separate sitting rooms.

Dean had acquired a home far better than he could ever have imagined, and he’d managed it in a very short space of time.

The best decision he’d ever made in his life was most likely going to that sales area and meeting Raviel.

Despite all this, strangely enough, he still wasn’t entirely satisfied.

Although his greed was growing by the day, he still felt as though he were locked away.

It had taken the young man nearly three hours to explore the entire castle and its grounds.

"What are you thinking, Dean? Do you like it?" Raviel asked.

When Dean heard this question, he shook his head and replied, "This is too big for one man, but, in the future, if I have a wife, children, a large family, this should be more than enough."

At that moment, Olivia and Alfred looked straight at Raviel.

Raviel, however, glared at them and managed to set them straight.

When Dean finally turned round and looked at Raviel, he said, "Thank you."

The young man really did want to thank Raviel and had withdrawn five separate banknotes from the system, amounting to exactly five million Nether and Aether coins.

"I can’t accept these," said Raviel.

Dean, however, smiled and said, "I’m not giving you these because I don’t want to cook for you. I... just wanted to give them to you. I’m sure I’ve caused you quite a headache over the past week and a half."

Although Raviel really didn’t want to, she had been forced to accept the money when Dean practically shoved it in her face.

The young woman then said, "I did it of my own free will. You didn’t bother me."

Dean smiled and replied, "Still, I really need people to look after me. If possible, people who will be butlers, maids and guards."

Raviel immediately pulled a notebook from her inventory and jotted down what Dean had said.

"I want to pay them with Nether and Aether coins. So I want you to make sure that the people working here aren’t members of the game, but that they do know about it."

Raviel had noted everything down and then said, "I’ll sort everything out in no time."

Dean, however, furrowed his brow at that moment and said, "Woah!"

He raised his hands to his chest and added, "I’m such an arsehole, and I’m only just realising it," said the young man.

"Sorry?" Alfred blurted out suddenly.

"I’m making Raviel work like mad. She’s not my employee," Dean had blurted out. He scratched his head.

"As I said, I’m doing this of my own free will. Don’t worry," Raviel had said directly.

Although Dean still wasn’t entirely happy with what he’d done, he’d decided to let it go for the time being.

As evening was drawing in, he didn’t want to go back home. On the contrary, he’d much rather stay at his new home.

"If you’re certain about everything, you’ll need to sign the documents now," Olivia said suddenly.

Dean looked at the middle-aged woman and asked, "The documents?"

"For the property transfer, Mr Dean," said Alfred.

Dean shook his head and, saying "Right," held out his hand as if to invite them inside.

Raviel chuckled, whilst her parents struggled not to laugh.

The documents were signed in short order, and the property transfer formalities were fully completed.

Of course, there were still many matters to be dealt with, but at least these were the tasks at hand for now, and everything had been finalised.

When Raviel and his family left the castle shortly afterwards, Dean was left alone in the vast castle.

"Percival," Dean said once more.

Percival had chosen the room right next to the master bedroom.

"Yes, my lord."

"Check the whole castle and see if there is anyone inside that we do not know."

When Percival heard this order, he bowed his head and asked, "What if I find someone?"

"You know what to do," Dean replied.

Since he was to live alone in this vast castle, he had to be certain of his safety.

Whether they were Raviel’s men or someone else.

If there was anyone in Dean’s home without his knowledge, they had to die.

It was as simple as that.
