Chapter 182: Chapter 165: An Apparent Blunder: Please Do Me the Honor

Lu Feng frowned at Red Lizard’s words.

He’d have to be slow not to realize something had gone wrong.

"I hope this Feilin isn’t looking to die!" Lu Feng muttered.

He didn’t like trouble, and finding a new trading partner would be both a hassle and a waste of time.

At that moment, in Tal Village, a figure directed a squad of men to a specific position.

From there, they had a clear line of sight to the courtyard where Lu Feng and his people were staying.

Moreover, the courtyard was well within their weapons’ range.

It wasn’t just this squad; several other teams in the vicinity had been positioned in the same way, specifically targeting them.

"Keep an eye on them. I’m heading back to report. Things in Dalat Town should be settled by now." After saying this, the commanding figure hurried out of Tal Village and headed back to Dalat Town.

Dalat Town was situated at the junction of Ba Country, Myanmar, Ah Country, and others, making it a lawless, ungoverned zone.

The town was home to several factions of arms dealers. These factions controlled weapon production lines and had channels for obtaining retired armaments.

Retired armaments were weapons that had been used by the military and then decommissioned.

These decommissioned weapons weren’t unusable; in fact, they could last for a long time.

As for why they were replaced if they were still perfectly usable? There were profits to be made, naturally.

It was like road repairs back home. A road could be perfectly fine, but every so often, a section would be torn up for maintenance, especially on the national highways.

You have to understand, with road construction, if you skim just two centimeters off the width and two centimeters off the thickness, the profits from an entire stretch of road are staggering.

Anyway, it was something like that.

The Kudar Clan was based in the southern part of town, controlled by the two brothers, Feilin and Feisen.

But today, the Kudar Clan’s compound had drawn the attention of the town’s other factions and permanent residents. A rapid series of gunshots had erupted from within.

Gunfire wasn’t unusual in Dalat Town. Even with agreements in place, friction between the factions was a common occurrence.

But for a barrage of shots to ring out from inside the Kudar Clan compound clearly meant something major was happening.

Now that the gunfire had stopped, the other factions and some residents couldn’t resist creeping near the Kudar Clan compound to investigate.

A figure on a custom motorcycle rode into the Kudar Clan’s territory. It was the man who had just returned from Tal Village. Someone recognized him as one of the Kudar Clan’s headmen: Bulin.

When Bulin saw the red cloth banner hanging at the compound gate, he knew the affair within the clan was over and a result had been decided.

He entered the clan compound and went straight to the main hall of the primary building.

Outside the hall, squads of soldiers armed with weapons stood, radiating killing intent.

In front of them, a group of disarmed men squatted with their hands on their heads, many with resentful looks on their faces.

Bulin walked directly into the hall. The air was thick with the smell of blood. Bodies lay on the floor, and the furniture and walls were scarred by bullet marks from the fight.

In the main chair, Feilin sat weakly, clutching his chest.

Even with his hand pressed against the wound, blood gushed out uncontrollably, and the light in his eyes grew increasingly dim.

He knew his life was draining away.

"Why?" Feilin asked, his face a mask of pain as he looked at the other imposing figure.

The man was his own brother.

He had never imagined his own brother would want to kill him, and so he had never taken any precautions against him.

Feisen frowned. "For the sake of the Kudar Clan’s power, Big Brother. Your so-called reputation has cost us too much. I’ve already investigated those two deals. It was the other party that cheated us, yet you made the Kudar Clan bear the responsibility."

"Besides, your ambition isn’t great enough to hold your current position. I strongly disagree with your principles, so I have no choice but to take your place."

Hearing this, Feilin spoke with a tone of bitter disappointment, "Feisen, do you really think I didn’t know what was going on? But because of this incident, the Kudar Clan’s reputation now surpasses the other factions. That’s a good thing for us."

Feisen couldn’t help but laugh. "Good thing? To be laughed at by the other factions? And then wait for someone else to try the same trick so we can take another loss?"

"Big Brother, you seem to have forgotten that this is Dalat Town. The countries surrounding us are in a constant state of chaos. Might is what matters here."

"As long as we have enough power, that’s all that matters. As long as we have enough power, that itself is the guarantee of our reputation. If the Kudar Clan can one day swallow up the other factions in Dalat Town, then whatever we say goes. The reputation we declare will be the only reputation that counts."

Hearing this, Feilin let out a silent sigh.

’Perhaps my brother is right.’

’In a place like Dalat Town, you can’t be concerned with things like reputation.’

With that final sigh, Feilin breathed his last.

"Later, arrange a proper funeral for him," Feisen ordered, turning to Bulin, who had just entered.

"Yes, Mr. Feisen!" Bulin nodded.

Feisen asked again, "What about those people?"

Bulin replied, "They haven’t made a move. They’re probably still waiting for news. Mr. Feisen, are you sure you want to move against them?"

Feisen said, "Although I’ve dealt with my brother, our Kudar Clan also suffered considerable losses. Adding the incidents from those two previous deals, the Kudar Clan’s losses are substantial. We must make them pay to recoup our losses. Only then can we talk about taking out the other factions. The key is, are you sure your intelligence isn’t wrong?"

Bulin immediately said, "Mr. Feisen, my investigation is flawless. Their men were all temporarily hired in Thornwa, in Myanmar. Besides, no faction leader in our region goes by the name Red Lizard. They shouldn’t be from around here."

"Then there’s nothing more to say." Feisen gave the order with a cold smile, "Get ready. ’Invite’ that Red Lizard here."

Although his brother used to manage the Kudar Clan’s deals, he had paid close attention to the major clients and was still in contact with many of them.

This would allow him to continue working with them after dealing with his brother and taking over.

This time, the sudden appearance of this "Red Lizard" had naturally caught his attention.

It was the first time someone had come to a place like this carrying Gold as currency for a deal.

After all, in this lawless zone, doing so was extremely dangerous.

Unless the person didn’t care about the Gold at all, and the loss would be insignificant to them even if it were stolen.

Furthermore, he knew a thing or two about Gold himself and could naturally see that this specially smelted Gold was of very high purity.

To smelt the Gold again meant that its origins were shady.

Coincidentally, he had heard a rumor that a certain country’s central bank vault had been robbed of its gold, which was still missing. That batch of gold also included a lot of gold jewelry.

That batch of Gold could not only cover the Kudar Clan’s recent losses but also help them expand their power.

It was quite a coincidence that this Red Lizard had appeared out of nowhere, carrying Gold, which was highly suspicious. To make up the exact amount, they had even used gold jewelry.

The key was the smelted Gold, which was obviously a way to cover their tracks.

That batch of Gold was in the hands of Red Lizard and his people, so he naturally had to get his hands on it.

As for whether he was mistaken, it didn’t matter. At worst, he’d lose a client with whom a deal hadn’t even been completed. Swallowing this batch of Gold from them was no loss at all.

As he thought this, Feisen looked at Feilin again, his expression turning sorrowful. ’This was my dear, dear brother.’

Bulin, for his part, turned and left, taking some of the Kudar Clan’s men with a wave of his hand.

...

「A short while later, in Tal Village.」

Black Snake and Hadona found Lu Feng.

"President Lu, something’s not right," Black Snake said as soon as he saw him.

Hadona nodded and said, "After what Red Lizard said earlier, I went out to take a look. It seems like the Kudar Clan has concentrated most of their guards over here. It looks like they’re targeting us, whether intentionally or not."

"It seems Feilin really is looking to die." Hearing their words and connecting them with everything else, a murderous aura appeared on Lu Feng’s face.

’Honestly, why do people always have to force my hand?’

Then, he was reminded of the electronic chains. Since Feilin wanted to die, the electronic chains were just the thing.

’Since finding someone to trade with is such a hassle...’

’...I might as well use this thing to take control of a faction and become self-sufficient.’

Black Snake and Hadona seemed to sense Lu Feng’s killing intent and instinctively shrunk back.

If anyone else had said Feilin was looking to die right here in the Kurdar Clan’s territory, they would have thought that person was insane.

But this was President Lu. They had seen for themselves how terrifying he could be.

Just then, Red Lizard ran up, hurrying to report, "President Lu, Bulin from the Kurdar Clan is here! He’s one of their headmen, and it looks like he hasn’t come with good intentions."

As Hadona frowned while translating Red Lizard’s words, Lu Feng went straight downstairs. In the hall, he saw a man with a buzz cut, backed by a group of guards armed with live ammunition.

The crucial thing was the peculiar positioning of these guards. They surrounded the entire area, and if a fight broke out, they could fire upon any spot in the hall.

"You must be Mr. Red Lizard?" Bulin asked as soon as he saw Lu Feng come downstairs.

"I am," Lu Feng nodded.

Bulin immediately put on a beaming smile. "Mr. Red Lizard, our leader invites you to make a trip to Dalat Town. We would be honored if you’d grace us with your presence."

Hadona immediately began to translate.

"And what if I’m not feeling so gracious?" Lu Feng shot back.

This attitude instantly made Bulin’s expression darken. He said coldly, "Then I’m afraid I’ll have to take Mr. Red Lizard’s ’face’ myself."

As he spoke, he waved his hand, and the Kudar Clan guards behind him instantly raised their guns, aiming them at Red Lizard and his men.

Even though Red Lizard and his men already knew something was wrong, they had barely raised their own guns to face them when the windows around the hall flew open. More guards appeared outside, also aiming their weapons at them.

They were completely outnumbered.

In this situation, beads of cold sweat broke out on the foreheads of Red Lizard and his men.

They knew that if shooting started now, they wouldn’t gain any advantage. More than half of them would probably be gunned down in an instant.

"What is the meaning of this, Kudar Clan? Are you trying to throw away your reputation?" Red Lizard shouted, his face grim.

But Bulin completely ignored Red Lizard. Instead, he looked at Lu Feng and said mockingly, "Mr. Red Lizard, surely you can grace us with your presence now? So, if you please. Our leader is waiting."

Almost at the same moment Bulin spoke, two guards raised their muzzles and aimed them directly at Lu Feng.

This wasn’t an invitation to grace them with his presence. It was a threat.
