Chapter 325: An Ambush (2)

Within moments, several of them had already fallen, their bodies slowly sinking to the seabed as dark blood spread through the surrounding water.

"Enemies!" one of the surviving Devourers screamed. "They’re h—!"

CRASH!

Azul drove his spear straight into the Devourer’s mouth. His blue eyes were locked onto the creature’s face, as fierce and cold as a stormy ocean.

"Shut up," he said in a chilling voice.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he swung the spear upward, splitting the Devourer’s head open with ease. Blood spread through the seawater, but Azul didn’t even spare it a glance.

[Oh...] Roxanna thought.

Watching from a distance, her eyes stayed on Azul for a moment before moving to the lifeless bodies lying around him.

[Azul looks...]

The moment Azul noticed Roxanna staring at him, he froze.

His heart suddenly tightened as he thought about a lot of terrible things.

What if she thought he looked terrifying? What if she saw him as a monster? What if she thought this ruthless side of him was nothing like the gentle husband she had fallen in love with?

[Amazing!]

Azul blinked several times after hearing her thoughts. For a brief moment, he wondered if he had imagined them. But Roxanna’s next thought quickly proved that he hadn’t.

[He’s so cool!] Roxanna’s thoughts continued without the slightest hesitation. [As expected of the Prince of Aquilian! He looks so handsome when he’s fighting!]

Instead of being frightened by him, Roxanna found herself falling even more deeply in love.

Azul couldn’t help but glance at Zeir, silently asking if their wife was really alright.

Zeir caught his look and simply gave a small shrug because he was just as confused.

To be honest, Roxanna had slowly grown used to seeing her husbands fight others. She had witnessed enough battles to understand that this side of them only appeared when they were protecting the people they cared about.

Because of that, instead of feeling fear, all she felt now was admiration. Besides, watching them fight with such skill and determination only made them seem even more dependable in her eyes.

Although Azul still felt there was something unusual about Roxanna’s reaction, he pushed the thought aside because there were more important things to focus on right now.

"If we leave their bodies here, the other Devourers will definitely realize our hiding place is nearby," Azul said.

Orion gave a quick nod. "You’re right, Your Highness. That’s why we need to move—"

"Let’s cut them into pieces," Azul interrupted calmly.

Orion froze on the spot. His mouth fell open, but no words came out.

Azul looked at him with a slight frown. "What are you waiting for?" he asked. "Let’s do it."

Hearing the firm order, Orion and Caspian immediately got to work. They began cutting the Devourers’ bodies into small pieces as quickly as they could.

Meanwhile, Azul stayed where he was, completely silent.

Roxanna watched him from a distance, and immediately felt worried.

[Did something happen to him?]

But a few moments later, the water around them suddenly began to tremble.

A dark shadow appeared in the distance, growing larger with every passing second.

When Roxanna finally saw its shape, her eyes immediately widened. "A giant shark?!"

The enormous creature swam straight toward them, its huge body sending the small fish around it scattering in every direction. Its rows of razor-sharp teeth were enough to make anyone’s heart pound.

"A-Azul, I think we should leave right now!"

Without thinking, Roxanna quickly swam behind Azul and Zeir, using them as shields.

Ever since she was young, seeing a giant shark in the deep ocean had been one of her biggest fears. Even when she swam in a deep swimming pool back on Earth, she would sometimes imagine a giant shark suddenly appearing beneath her.

"It’s alright," Azul said in a calm voice. "He’s not here to eat us."

As if to prove his words, the giant shark swam past them without even looking their way.

It opened its massive jaws and, without the slightest hesitation, swallowed the chopped-up remains of the Devourers in a single bite.

Within moments, every piece of the bodies had disappeared and the seabed looked as though nothing had happened.

Roxanna blinked several times before turning to Azul. "Did you call it?"

Azul gave a small nod. "I did."

"How?!"

He simply shrugged. "I just thought it would be easier if there was a shark to eat the bodies we had cut up."

Zeir raised an eyebrow. "In other words, you can call ocean creatures whenever you want?" he asked. There was curiosity in his voice, but he wasn’t being overly nosy.

Azul thought about it for a moment before shaking his head. "Not exactly."

"What do you mean?" Roxanna asked in confusion.

"I can’t force them to obey me," Azul explained. "I can only send them my thoughts. Whether they come or not is their choice."

Roxanna blinked. "So... that shark came here because it wanted to help you?"

Azul nodded. "Something like that."

Roxanna glanced at the giant shark, which was lazily circling a short distance away after finishing its meal.

Roxanna still couldn’t understand how Azul had suddenly realized he could do something like that, but maybe it was like a baby bird that somehow knew how to fly even though it had been abandoned.

"Thank you, Mr. Shark," Roxanna said with a small bow.

Of course, the giant shark didn’t reply. Instead, it began swimming in circles even faster, almost as if it were happily accepting her thanks.

"Your Highness! We did it! You can come here now!" Bion called from a distance after noticing that all the Devourers were gone.

But the moment his eyes landed on the giant shark, he froze. The color drained from his face, and he looked like he was about to die on the spot.

Bion’s trembling finger slowly pointed at the giant shark. "Y-Your Highness..."

"Oh, it’s fine," Azul replied casually before leading the group toward the entrance of the buried village. "It’s just a shark."
