Chapter 476: Chapter 313: The Spaceship’s Central Treasure Vault
But even so, he was more than powerful enough to deal with a fifth-rank Spiritual Plant.
After a brief exchange, Su Ze had a good grasp of the Iron Tree Spiritual Plant’s tactics. The tree had no real offensive capabilities. It could only attack people with its blade-like leaves; everything else was pure defense.
Its defense was absurd, and it even had a damage reflection effect. Attacking it was like attacking yourself.
The Iron Tree’s damage output came almost entirely from taking hits.
Su Ze communicated with the Mother Tree and learned that this was a "Thorny Iron Tree," a species universally detested throughout the cosmos.
It was tough and nasty, with no valuable byproducts. It didn’t flower or bear fruit, making its uses extremely limited.
As a result, no one wanted to tangle with a Thorny Iron Tree. You’d go through all the trouble of killing it for little to no reward.
However, this creature could only reflect physical and elemental damage; it had no such effect against Spiritual Power attacks.
The Mother Tree’s previous owner, the deity from the Tree Spirit Race, had planted a Thorny Iron Tree in the cultivation room for the express purpose of creating a new variant.
The Thorny Iron Tree before Su Ze was a mutated variant. It could even reflect spiritual attacks.
Of course, this made no difference to Su Ze. He didn’t care what kind of damage it reflected.
He was just curious which of his skills the Iron Tree’s core could upgrade.
’None of my skills seem to be a good match for it,’ he thought.
Facing the Thorny Iron Tree, Su Ze opted for a simple, brute-force approach. He liquefied his entire body and hacked away at the trunk with his Crystal Sword.
His liquid form was highly immune to physical damage, so the reflected attacks caused him negligible harm. The tree’s leaf-blades were equally ineffective, unable to outpace the healing of his Regeneration Body.
The Thorny Iron Tree could only take a one-sided beating, utterly helpless.
A moment later, Su Ze had felled the Iron Tree Spiritual Plant and extracted its core.
Su Ze absorbed the core on the spot.
After a moment, Su Ze opened his eyes, a flicker of surprise on his face.
He hadn’t expected the Thorny Iron Tree’s core to upgrade his "Unyielding Will" skill.
And the direction the upgrade took was also a surprise.
Unyielding Will (Fifth-Rank S-Class): Fuses spiritual will with physical consciousness. In this state, the physical body amplifies Spiritual Power—the stronger the body, the greater the amplification. Reflects damage back to the attacker upon receiving a spiritual attack.
’It actually gained the Thorny Iron Tree’s spiritual damage reflection.’
’This was the new ability the Mother Tree’s owner had bred into the Thorny Iron Tree!’
What’s more, the power of the reflected spiritual attack was determined by Su Ze’s own Spiritual Power.
And Su Ze’s current Spiritual Power was even greater than that of same-rank experts who specialized in it.
In other words, if a Spiritual Venerable like Penny were to attack him now, the reflected spiritual attack would be even stronger than the one he received!
Su Ze might come out unscathed, while she’d be the one coughing up blood.
"I guess I really am the bane of all spiritual-type users now." Su Ze grinned, suddenly looking forward to his next encounter with a spiritual-type enemy.
Of course, reflecting spiritual damage didn’t mean Su Ze was immune to it himself. It simply meant that while he took the hit, he would also return a spiritual attack to his enemy.
If he ever encountered a spiritual-type evolver whose Spiritual Power could completely overwhelm his, he’d still be done for.
With another skill successfully upgraded, Su Ze now had ten more awaiting their turn.
After wandering around the cultivation room and confirming there were no other suitable enhancement materials, Su Ze brought Mr. Ya with him to the center of the ship.
A hidden door silently materialized. Behind it was a staircase leading down, directly to the Central Treasure Vault at the very bottom and center of the ship.
The two descended the stairs and came upon an oval, bunker-like structure. Unlike the other buildings on the ship, this bunker wasn’t a living plant. Instead, it was constructed from the remains of Spiritual Plants mixed with some kind of alien metal, making it incredibly sturdy.
This was the ship’s Central Treasure Vault.
