Chapter 384: Chapter 288: Complete Divine Grace of Evolution
If he called, even if Chen Suifeng didn’t answer, it would put him on certain people’s radar and make him a person of interest for an investigation.
Su Ze settled down to wait patiently for news. In the meantime, he consumed a Heart-shaped Fruit every day, pairing it with Swan Dance 2.0 to quickly process the Evolutionary Material in his body.
He had a vial of Tier 5, Grade A Divine-Sundering Shark extract he’d gotten from Amida. It contained only skills of the mental attack variety, making it unsuitable for Mr. Ya or Mrs. Yun. It was a good fit for Liou Wenxin, but who knew how long it would be before she could actually use it.
Su Ze himself had already moved past the era of Tier 5 extracts; from now on, he would only be absorbing Tier 6 extracts at a minimum.
Su Ze had no use for Tier 5 extracts himself. He wasn’t short on cash, and many of the resources he wanted couldn’t be bought with money anyway.
So, he gave the vial of extract to Mr. Ya and had him use Evolutionary Technology’s channels to trade it for a vial of a Tier 5 fly-type beast extract.
That’s right—another extract from a fly-type beast that had evolved from a dung-eater. A blind box extract.
No extract was more suitable for Mr. Ya than a blind box.
Mr. Ya had been busy preparing recently, figuring it would be safer to absorb the blind box extract only after he had sufficiently strengthened his other skills.
These peaceful days didn’t last long. The pressure on the borders of the Dongli Kingdom became too great. The attacks from the Marine Beasts grew increasingly ferocious, and with no support from the Sovereign Country, the kingdom was forced to begin a massive, nationwide military conscription.
Mrs. Yun and Li Fayi both rushed to the front lines to help ease the pressure on Ning Yushen.
As for Su Ze and Mr. Ya, the two Guardian Gods of Dongli, they weren’t sent to the front lines but were given a new mission: train soldiers!
The two of them held little more than honorary titles and had enjoyed considerable resources from the Dongli Kingdom. Now that the kingdom was in trouble, it was only natural that they do their part.
Countless passionate young men answered Dongli’s call for mass conscription. However, these new recruits were brimming with patriotism but lacked any systematic training. On the front lines, they would be a disorganized mob, and the casualty rate would inevitably be massive.
The mission Gu Chengguang assigned to Su Ze and Mr. Ya was for each of them to train a battle-ready force of one thousand evolvers in the shortest time possible.
The rosters and profiles of all new recruits were handed over to them to choose from as they pleased.
Su Ze admitted he didn’t know the first thing about training soldiers. His only experience came from the few military-style training camps he’d attended throughout his school years.
But that didn’t matter. He didn’t have to know how, as long as he could find someone who did. A leader only needs to know how to delegate, not do everything personally.
He didn’t rush to look at the list of new recruits. Instead, he took a walk around Dongli University and recruited two people: Li Yongguan from the master class, and Ye Jin, a senior student.
"From now on, you two will be my right and left hands—my Deputy Generals," Su Ze said.
Both had recently broken through to the Butterfly Stage, so they were more than strong enough for the job.
Su Ze had also sought them out because their elders were military commanders. Li Yongguan was General Li Fayi’s son, and Ye Jin was Ning Yushen’s granddaughter. Both came from military families and had grown up surrounded by such matters, so they were bound to know a thing or two about training soldiers.
And if they didn’t, they could always ask their families for help.
"Here are the new recruit profiles. I want you two to pick about a thousand people. Prioritize those with high strength and extensive combat experience; we’re going to build an elite force," Su Ze instructed. "Also, I have another idea. I want to create two special squads, so give priority to anyone with suitable skills..."
He explained his idea, and both Ye Jin and Li Yongguan listened intently.
They were both moved by Su Ze’s trust in them, not expecting him to entrust them with such a heavy responsibility so readily.
Being highly responsible individuals, they immediately got to work.
As for Su Ze, he dusted off his hands and left them to it, becoming a completely hands-off manager.
When Su Ze returned to his villa and opened the door, he saw someone else in the living room... Chen Suifeng!
"Mr. Fen, you’re finally here!"
