Chapter 60: A Stranger Mana Signature
As we walked down the street of our village, people spotted Madel new face. Children gestured at her in awe at the color of her wings. The emerald scaled snared the light commanding attention.
"What a lively village you got here." Madel remarked with a smile gesturing at the children.
"They’ll soon grow accustomed to you just like Quinette the stare will slowly die down." I murmured heading Randall home. I glanced over my shoulder with Madel following behind. "So tell me Madel do you possess experience with instructing magic?"
"Instructing magic? I have a bit I suppose. Do you intend me to instruct someone?"
I gazed ahead. "Yes. Someone who had just awaken mana."
"But most dragon possess natural talent with any affinity their mana is suited to match... so I don’t believe I’ll be really adept at it..."
"Don’t undervalue your self. If you able instruct then that’s all I require you to do. Do your best that’s all. If he doesn’t grasp then sure I wouldn’t fault you."
"We’re here." I halted before their fence.
"Remain here."
Advancing into the compound. I didn’t spot Randall lingering outside.
More closer into the house. I approached the door.
I peered through the window into the house where Randall used to hang his hunter gun was missing. No sight of his gun. I immediately realized he ventured to the forest to hunt. I retreated from the door. Steps away the door flew open about change course.
Randall little sister appeared Lily at the door. She noticed me.
"Walter. You’re here to visit Randall?"
"Of course. Where is he."
"He headed hunting at the forest just behind the village."
"As I anticipated I’ll find him there." Lily eyes then settled on Madel behind me.
Madel she gestured at her with a smile.
"Wow another dragon." Lily eyes sparkled. "What’s your name?"
"Madel."
"I’m Lily can we be friends."
"Uh?"
I turned Madel around. "That’s not what we’re here for. Lily you’ll can meet her later. For now she has something to instruct your brother."
"Okay. Bye hope you return soon." Lily called gesturing at us with enthusiasm.
Even if humans had been coexisting with dragons for the past ten years now the response to encounter dragons was still new as dragons visiting Farmshill village was very uncommon. Most time only high figures departed the wall of the dragon kingdom into bigger cities.
We altered course to the forest behind the village a little distant past the rows of farm. We conversed as we proceeded to break the silence.
"So this Randall person is who I’ll be instructing?"
"Yes he is."
"He’s a hunter."
"Yes he is but mostly does it for fun. They already raise animals so it extra on his side."
Meters away from the village the treeline grew distinct. We entered under its canopy. The chirping of birds roosting on trees. The sunlight filtering through the leaves we traversed the cleared path advancing deeper into the forest. If I still recalled Randall favorite hunting spot it was just up ahead after a turn. Soon we walked past what I had assumed was his spot. Well guess he shifted. We maintained our eyes alert for him since I didn’t wish to spook his kill by foolishly shouting his name to respond.
"See anyone yet?"
"Nope."
"Scouring around won’t draw him out." I shut my eyes. Since he had awakened mana it made it simpler to detect him. I narrowed my eyes short honing my sense. Then I caught a dim glimmer of mana behind my closed eyes. I pivoted toward the direction maintaining my eyes closed. Yet something was fishy. I thought I had detected him but far ahead I could detect two mana signature. One likely was pinned to the ground another. I raised my head peering ahead of us as I detected another mana signature on the trees.
My eyes flew open. The trees were too tall for Randall to scale all the way up there just to hunt. Someone else was with magic was here. I motioned to the place detected their mana signature pinned to the ground presuming that was Randall crouching to stalk. "Madel go that way you’ll see Randall there."
"What about you?"
"I suspect someone is here with us."
I spread my wings as they tore through my clothes and extended. Madel stared as she gawked at them.
"How is that possible..."
I launched into the air soaring through the corridor of the tree weaving, beating, contorting in the air as quick as possible. I pursued down mana signature. They didn’t flee. Stayed fixed. As I drew closer it soon grew evident. The potency of the mana was average not oppressive with no trace of dark mana. My suspicion of goblin eased as I slowed my speed. Still I desired to identify who was that.
My speed propelled me hurling beyond the tree where the mana signature was. I veered arcing back as I glided back alighting on the branch in a low stance.
I tucked my wings rose looking down. I saw a kid. Well I refuse label him a kid but he was teenager around 16. His hair was perfectly groomed vibrant colors. He donned an academy uniform immaculate white with badge and shoulder ranks.
As he perched on the branch. His body stiffened on noticing me. He pressed himself back against the tree. Lifted his hand. "Stay away from me!"
I examined his uniform immaculate. He appeared too pristine to be from our village. Then the uniform with the badge it then registered have encountered this uniform from the magic academy in Kingston.
I raised an eyebrow. "What is a student from Kingston Magical academy doing here." Crouched to his eye level.
His hand tremor. "Are you dragon how do you have wings? Did you cut your horns?" He said shaking with fear.
"Am I that scary?" I released a exhale. "Well lets begin with you. What’s a Kingston Magical academy student doing in my village."
