Chapter 46: Amiko’s Death: Free From Dungeon
Amiko grinned. She bit back a laugh.
But finally burst out laughing. I tightened my face, walking up to her with calculated steps.
"You should allow your scary woman to fight me. You might be stronger than me now. But with spacial magic you can’t hit me and..." her eye slittered, "I have a trick up my sleeves."
She vanished. I froze, raised my daggers expecting an attack from any angle, but she didn’t attack, teleporting to the body of the soul knight. Does she want to revive it? I wondered.
"It’s no news for you, I have three affinity. One for severing magic, for spacial magic. Do you want to know the third?"
My eyes flared, it snapped into place. All her ability was connected to dark forbidden magic. If anything her next affinity would also follow a forbidden technique.
She floated her hand over the soul knight’s body. A greenish mana surged out the soul knight’s mutilated body, like smoke.
"Necromancy?"
"Arise, warrior of the dead," Amiko declared. The smoke billowed out ferociously more. The pale skin of the soul knight darkened. The green smoke stitched the gouged body parts.

"So tell me, can you end this swiftly, your dragongirl over there could kill me in a second, or you could try kill me yourself."
"What’s your—"
Amiko cut her words short as my daggers flew towards her, tumbling over end to end. My plan was purely to overwhelm her, inflict as much damage as rapidly as I can, that way she would be too damaged to even use spacial magic to teleport away.
"Trying to play on my ego. Tsk, failed on arrival. I’m taking my head right here right now, for the pain you caused me, I inflict it in a million fold."
I dashed. Boom, the ground cratered behind me, sending debris flying behind me.
My dagger cut through the air, closing in distance.
Amiko then vanished. The dagger flew through where she stood seconds ago. Unlike the soul knight’s transfer, I couldn’t predict where she was going to appear next.
I just had to be fast enough to catch her up before she vanished once more.
Zap. Her mana signature appeared behind me. I swung, cut at nothing again.
To the left I burst forward, kicked at nothing, my force from the kick crashed into a tree, destroying it at the bark.
I snatched the dagger I threw.
A vein bulged on my neck, she kept flickering away. I just had to time her well.
I continued her game of cat and mouse. All the time she appeared I attacked. But didn’t catch her. Either my dagger cut at nothing, or I threw my fists and kicks at the air.
It began an endless game with no progress. I then stood still, scanning what I could seize.
She could vanish without casting a single spell. But at close, half a second was the time she used to teleport from one place to position. That was the only timeframe I had to catch her.
She wasn’t even attacking. I glanced back at the timer of the soul knight’s revival, five minutes more. We could potentially defeat it if it gets awakened.
Still, that didn’t look like her full plan.
Amiko then materialized before me. She cocked her head, "What’s wrong, are you tired? Don’t be—"
I swung at her mid-sentence and she vanished again. From her repeated movement I could now predict her taunt.
I swung behind me. At the last, jumped she appeared behind me. After vanishing from before me.
Just as I predicted, she appeared behind me. Following repeated pattern had made it possible to get my hand on her.
My blade inched to her neck, it was already too close. Just using spatial magic, she needed half a second before she could jump again. I surged.
Faster than her reaction time.
Slash, my blade cut at her throat, drawing blood. I lunged, slamming my fist in her jaw. Sliced at her chest, grabbed her cloak, pulled it away.
She strained to take a step back. I kicked her legs. Gripped her horn. Drove my knee into her nose. Crushing bones. She reeled back, holding her nose as blood seeped out. Oozing through her finger. Splattering crimson dots to the ground.
"You."
Slam, I kicked her square in the chest sending her flying. I had made a mistake allowing her breath for a second, yet she didn’t use her spacial magic. How foolish. As she cartwheeled through the forest, slamming through trees, I spread my wings and shot towards her, whistling through the sky.
Skipping through the corridors.
Amiko raised the long black wand in her palm. I sliced her hand off by the wrist, kicked it off. I threw my dagger, pinning it to a tree, then formed another dagger.
Groan. She strained holding the pain in her hand.
She collided with the trees, then crumpled down to the ground, leaving the tree’s bark streaked with blood.
Her breath rasped, she gazed at the ground, eyes reddened. "You. You monster. Why can’t you just die."
I sensed the disturbance in the air, her mana shifted. Ballooning another huge severing attack, erupted through the air. Slicing at everything, the trees, rocks, the ground trembles.
A storm coalesced around her, lifting trees, in its violence.
I strode through the storm of severing magic, spinning in sickles.
Slashes lashed around my body. My body bore deep gashes. Glistened with cuts The upper part of my robe ragged, hanging off my waist.
Soon the attacks had no effect on me, not a single strike from her attack.

[Evolution Unlocked]
I was locked on Amiko, to pay attention to the evolution granted from adapting fully to severing magic.
A log of tree swung my way from the storm. I sliced it.
It split. Flaking by my sides.
I stopped in front of Amiko, her breath hitched. Her eyes widened. "Impossible." She shrieked up at me.
I glistened with red, two daggers in my palm, looking in the most threatening way possible, a ragged robe tied at my waist.
I glared down at her.
"You’ve caused me too much trouble, now it’s your time to die."
I stabbed my dagger into the center of her chest, straight into her mana core. She gasped. Mana steadily leeched from her body. Sapped her. Blocking her from using magic.
Her mana level shrouded around her, faded. The storm of severing magic dwindled, vanished into nothing as the calm of the forest returned.
She gasped for air. The amount of blood she was losing, she would be dead without striking her. And I needed information from her.
Critical information.
"Who sent you, Amiko, and what ritual did you say I’m preventing? Tell me and I might spare your life."
