Chapter 55: Let’s fight

I cracked my eyes open, but it was very difficult. My eyelids felt so heavy.

My vision was still blurry for a moment. I glanced around and saw my wife sitting on the edge of the bed, resting her head against my chest.

Then, I managed to recall what had happened earlier. Ah... I passed out when I was taking notes of the Pope’s warning on my phone.

I could guess the reason. After losing so much blood and enduring the Pope’s challenge, my body could no longer maintain its wakefulness until the time I wanted.

I sighed wearily while staring at my wife. Then, I gently teased her cheek — her skin was as white, flawless, and soft as a baby’s.

When I brushed her hair aside to get a better look at her, my eyes widened for a moment.

Her features were perfect, so charming that I wondered if there was another girl in this world as beautiful as her.

Indeed, it was a waste that I had ignored my wife’s beauty the entire time since we got married.

I forced myself to smile before turning my attention to the sound of footsteps echoing through the hallway outside my room.

Li opened the door, pushing a food cart into my room. As soon as she noticed I was awake, she immediately headed toward me and was about to say something. But I raised a hand, gesturing for her to stop.

I didn’t want to wake my wife.

Li glanced at my wife and spoke in a quiet voice, loud enough for me to hear but not enough to wake my wife.

"She cares about you very much. She headed straight to the office as soon as we received the notification from the medical department of the academy about you."

I nodded calmly before telling Li to leave.

I knew my wife would do that because she was kind-hearted... but that very part of her would only make her suffer in the future because I wasn’t the husband she had always dreamed of.

I glanced at the cityscape through the window one last time before drifting off to sleep.

In the next few hours, I woke up, and so did my wife. Then, I was greeted with a ton of questions from her.

Most of them were about my health and what the Pope had done to me. She was so worried about me, as if a mother had nearly lost her child.

I could only smile awkwardly at her overreaction and gently pat her head to comfort her.

The more attached she grew to me, the more she loved me, the more it worked in my favor. But in the end, she would be the one to suffer.

That night, she hugged me, holding onto me as if she were afraid I would run away. It was quite troublesome whenever our bodies came into close contact. Even I couldn’t fully control myself. Her seductive body really caused me a lot of trouble, especially her provocatively full breasts. After all, I was still a young man, not gay.

Thanks to my cold heart and the peace she gave me, I managed to suppress my lust and fell asleep early.

7:00 A.M.

I woke up and stood leaning against the balcony railing, watching the usual cityscape while drinking some water.

I summoned my status.

Title: The Chosen Villain

Title: King of Knights

"Very nice."

I smirked, and my usually expressionless face showed a hint of joy as I looked at the system screen.

Then, I returned to the room and gave her the [Primal Blood Crystal Stones].

My wife received the blood stone and swallowed it quickly. A scarlet aura enveloped her body before spreading across her limbs.

I asked curiously.

"How do you feel?"

My wife tried to move her hands and fingers, but she still had a lot of difficulty doing so. She gasped for breath after forcing herself to do it.

"Yeah. I can feel it restored a little. But the process is quite slow."

My wife sighed.

"But I don’t complain. At least, I have hope now. No matter how long it takes, I will wait."

I nodded at her words.

"Good mindset. You can use more stones to speed up the process, but it will backfire on you. The blood stone concentration is too high and may be assimilated with your mana in the future. I suppose you don’t want to be mistaken as a worshipper."

"A better way is to use it once a week until the blood stone concentration is completely eliminated from your body before the next dose."

A few minutes later, we headed to the academy.

In the classroom, we continued listening to the boring lesson until the class ended.

In the afternoon, we arrived at our club office and held a short meeting with the new members.

I sat on the chair, ignoring everyone while my wife took over the communication and assigned tasks to the new members.

Especially the one we needed to focus on was Jaxon. He was a specially admitted student from a poor area, so his potential was very low. It could be said this way: his slot in the academy was a charity admission, so he had to put in many times more effort than everyone else.

My wife had assigned Jaxon the tasks that suited him best, involving computers, searching for information about missions, and dealing with complicated issues on social media.

She was very good at this job. It seemed my wife’s talent was not only in fighting but also in leading everyone.

A perfect person.

After she finished her job, I began talking with everyone.

"Let’s fight. I want to check your strength before starting the club’s first mission."

Kellan chuckled, cracking his fingers, clearly excited about my decision.

Hugh was just silent, not saying anything. Maria seemed to be afraid after hearing that. She looked like she still hadn’t recovered from the psychological trauma I caused her.

My wife just sighed.

"Hope you don’t kill anyone."
