Chapter 939: Chapter 749: Make-up Lessons
Despite Kael feeling it wasn’t necessary, three days later, Dumbledore still returned the Golden Cup as promised.
When Kael found Harry with a bottle of Honey Wine, Harry was in the library and nearly buried under various books.
With him were Ron and Hermione.
In front of the three were stacks of thick "walls of books," enclosing them tightly. If it weren’t for the Marauder’s Map indicating Harry was in the library, Kael almost missed him.
It’s hard to imagine when he and Ron became so fond of reading.
"Here’s what you wanted."
Kael walked over and sat across from them, discreetly slipping a bottle of Honey Wine into a gap in the book wall while Madam Pince wasn’t looking.
"Thanks," Harry said, raising his head.
It was then that Kael noticed the prominent dark circles around his eyes.
"How long have you been here?" he subconsciously asked.
"Three days," Ron yawned, muttering, "Aside from classes, we’ve nearly been living in the library."
He casually picked up a book nearby, flipped through it quickly, and then set it aside.
"Are you looking for something?" Kael asked, "Need any help?"
"No, no need."
"We can manage on our own."
...
Harry and Ron spoke almost simultaneously.
Not sure if it was an illusion, Kael always felt they seemed to be hiding something, not wanting him to know.
But he wasn’t overly curious; seeing the trio didn’t want to talk, he didn’t ask further, handed the item to Harry, and then left the library.
Meanwhile, due to the slightly loud voice, Harry and the others were chased out of the library by Madam Pince a minute later.
"It’s all your fault!" Hermione said irritably, "We probably can’t get into the library for at least two days."
"What does it matter," Ron seemed quite pleased, "We’ve been searching for three days, and what did we find? Nothing. I’ve been saying all along, the library doesn’t have clues about the Sword and the Pendant Box; it’s just a waste of time."
Harry thought the same; if it weren’t for Hermione’s insistence, he would have given up yesterday.
Besides, thinking it through, if what the four founders left could be found in books, why would Voldemort work at Borgin and Burkes for a Hufflepuff Golden Cup?
"Besides looking for clues in the library, do you have a better idea?"
Seeing them say that, Hermione shot them a glare, "If you do, I wouldn’t mind hearing it, but don’t tell me you plan to search every room in school. I don’t want to do something so utterly foolish."
With that, Hermione stormed off.
"What’s she mad about?" Ron didn’t quite understand, "We didn’t say anything like that, did we?"
"I think she’s just mad about not being able to go to the library for two days," Harry said quietly.
"Maybe," Ron shrugged, turning to look at the bottle Harry was holding, "What’s this?"
"It’s Honey Wine..." Harry said, "Darn, I forgot to give Kael money."
"Wine?" Ron frowned, "You always liked Butter Beer, didn’t you? When did it become Honey Wine, and aren’t you underage?"
"Yeah, missing a few months," Harry replied.
"But it’s not for me; it’s for Slughorn. He likes Honey Wine, and maybe I can use it to get his memories."
"You want to get him drunk?" Ron stroked his chin, "That’s a good idea. When are you planning to go, now?"
"I don’t know," Harry shook his head, "I need an opportunity."
The two of them discussed as they headed to the common room. After reading in the library for three consecutive days, their previous enthusiasm for searching for the Soul Artifact had mostly been worn down. Now, they just wanted to go back to sleep.
...
Harry said he needed an opportunity and ended up waiting for over a week.
Mainly, he wanted to act when there was no one else around, like the occasional dinner party before. But he had forgotten, since asking about issues related to the Soul Artifact, Slughorn’s dinner parties had implicitly stopped inviting him.
Kael was also not invited, which was just what he wanted, as he didn’t need to ask Slughorn anything.
Entering April, the weather began to warm up.
Preparing for the upcoming N.E.W.T. exams, seventh-year students were seldom seen in the castle anymore; most stayed in the library or in empty classrooms practicing magic.
Even Mikel had missed two Quidditch practices in a row.
His weak subjects were Charms and Transfiguration, and according to Professor McGonagall, without practice, there’s a significant chance he won’t get the certificates for these subjects.
Transfiguration and Charms are the most important subjects, necessary for many jobs.
Although this does not include the career Mikel wanted, Beater, he also knows his talent in Quidditch isn’t particularly stunning, so he can’t completely abandon these certificates.
If anyone in the seventh grade was most idle, it would probably be Kael.
While everyone was working hard to earn more certificates, he was the only one left bored.
