Chapter 2083: Chapter 595: Be Cold When You Should Be Cold
"Why do I feel like Zhang Hongyun’s father is not sincere at all? His daughter caused such a scandal in Rongcheng, how can he not know? I think he’s letting his daughter make trouble, just waiting for Mu Yichen to call him. If Mu Yichen doesn’t call, he’s probably still thinking that his precious daughter is some sort of prize, and Mu Yichen can’t bear to take action against her."
Helian Hao’s eyes were sharp, and she glanced at Qin Mu as she spoke.
Qin Mu sat in the chair holding a wine glass, silent until Helian Hao looked at her.
"Regardless of his sincerity, Zhang Hongyun has left, and we’re finally rid of a problem."
Qin Mu thought, if Zhang Hongyun were around, she’d frequently come to her studio looking for her, and she would feel suffocated.
"Mm!"
Fan Qing couldn’t hide her excitement. She had never been so eager to get rid of someone. During those days, with Zhang Hongyun and her mother staying at her home, Fan Qing had secretly cried, feeling wronged but unable to complain, hiding to cry secretly.
"Let’s have another drink!"
Qin Mu also laughed.
"Qin Mu, you’re getting more and more wicked, huh? You never used to be so smug before."
Helian Hao teased Qin Mu, unable to resist as she watched her beaming.
"Hmph! I never claimed to be a good person! And I don’t want to be one!"
Before drinking, Qin Mu solemnly stated this to Helian Hao.
Good people rarely get rewarded; all she wanted was to live freely and with a clear conscience.
"I don’t want to be a good person either; it’s too exhausting!"
Fan Qing truly spoke from the heart, feeling a bit like crying as she said this.
Tan Yiwen watched them nearby, and as the trio of women chatted, he got up and left for a bit.
After Tan Yiwen and Fan Qing finished dinner and left, Qin Mu and Helian Hao continued chatting for a while, then Qin Mu called a waiter to settle the bill. The waiter said, "Ma’am, Lawyer Tan just paid the bill earlier!"
Qin Mu and Helian Hao exchanged a glance, and then Qin Mu put away her card, saying, "Alright!"
The waiter escorted them a few steps as they walked downstairs, and Helian Hao said, "That Tan Yiwen sure knows how to handle things, are you planning to collaborate with him long-term?"
"Do you think he’s reliable?"
Qin Mu asked Helian Hao.
"Mm, he doesn’t talk much, but he’s not annoying at all, and he’s discreet in his actions. From how he quietly paid the bill without saying a word, he should be reliable."
Helian Hao hooked her arm around Qin Mu’s, praising him as they walked.
After listening, Qin Mu nodded.
"That’s what I think too!"
Qin Mu replied.
"Did you help Fan Qing this time because of Tan Yiwen?"
"Not quite, Zhang Hongyun falsely accused Yang Qin of hiring someone to smash her house. I felt a bit sorry for Yang Qin, so I mentioned it to Mu Yichen this time, sort of helping Yang Qin while making Tan Yiwen and Fan Qing owe me a favor, sparing myself a hassle!"
Qin Mu raised an eyebrow and exchanged glances with Helian Hao at the hotel entrance.
"I didn’t expect you to be like this, Qin Mu, you’re so cunning! Making so many people grateful to you, yet it’s purely self-serving!"
Helian Hao said.
Back then, when Qin Mu returned, she was straightforward, a naive girl, but look now—a little Mu Yichen, skilled at strategizing.
Jing Feng came over to pick up Helian Hao after his business engagement, greeted Qin Mu in the car, and once they left, Qin Mu got into her own vehicle to return to the Mu Family.
On the way back, she opened the car window briefly but closed it quickly. She felt a bit hot from the drinks, but once the window was opened, she was chilled to the bone.
During the drive home, Qin Mu reflected on Helian Hao’s words and couldn’t help but smile. Arriving home, she saw a figure standing at the door.
The light was dim, but he seemed to be smoking. His stance unmistakably identified her man.
Qin Mu drove the car to the main building, took her bag and flung it casually over her back, running boldly towards the entrance.
"I’m back!"
Mu Yichen took a deep drag of his cigarette, then lowered his hand, squinting at her.
"You still remember to come back?"
His leisurely tone clearly showed his displeasure.
Realizing his mood, Qin Mu immediately toned down her arrogance, grinning as she approached, "But I’m back now, aren’t I? Did you wait here the whole time? All evening?"
They had spoken on the phone before dinner, she said she’d return after nine, and she was indeed home before ten. Yet, Mu always wore a cold expression, as if he had been waiting a long time, body chilled.
