Chapter 86: Chapter 86 An affair

Alana stared at the black slippers on the floor; they really didn’t look much like the pair she’d bought before.

She kept a pair of men’s slippers at home to help maintain her image as someone in a relationship.

She’d bought the slippers two months ago and had left them on the shoe rack, completely ignoring them ever since.

They’d only been worn twice, once when the landlord’s son came over to fix the drain, and another time when he changed a light bulb, otherwise, no one had worn them. She hadn’t really taken a close look at the black slippers either.

She couldn’t tell what the specific differences were.

They all just looked black and pretty much the same to her.

Could it be that these slippers weren’t the original pair?

Then who exactly swapped out these slippers?

Alana had a vague idea who it might be, but to avoid giving the landlord’s son any cause formsuspicion, she lied.

“Oh, I remember now. A while back, my boyfriend came home, wore out the slippers, and then he went to the supermarket to buy a new pair and put them on top. I was so busy just now that I completely forgot about it.”

Mark went, “Oh,” but couldn’t help but feel suspicious.

But the shoe size doesn’t quite match, does it?

The last pair was a bit smaller, but this one was almost two sizes bigger.

Could it be that Alana broke up with her old boyfriend and found a new one?!

It wasn’t out of the question.

Mark asked curiously, “Lana, is your boyfriend still the same one as before? Is it still the one who’s always traveling for work?”

No one had ever met Alana’s “boyfriend,” so no one knew what he looked like.

According to Alana, her boyfriend was very busy with work and was often away on business trips. He spent most of the month on business trips, so they rarely get to see each other.

“Uh, yes.”

Mark scratched his head. “Oh, okay. I thought you’d gotten a new boyfriend.”

Alana swallowed.

Just then, a loud clang came from inside the room.

Mark immediately looked toward her bedroom. “What was that?”

Alana’s breath caught in her throat.

“It should be nothing. Mark, could you please check the sewer for me? I’ll go back to my room in a bit to take a look. Maybe... maybe there’s a rat. Uh, running around everywhere.”

“Rat? Then I’ll go help you kill it. You’re a girl, you probably can’t handle those disgusting, stinky rats!” Saying this, Mark slipped on his slippers, his expression resolute, and headed toward her bedroom without hesitation.

Alana couldn’t stay calm; she rushed over to stop him.

“Mark, my room isn’t tidied up yet. Please don’t go in, there are a lot of my personal belongings inside, so it’s not really appropriate for you to go in. Besides, it might not even be a rat. The wind’s blowing hard outside, and I left the window open. Maybe the wind blew something around and made a noise. Anyway, you should check the kitchen drain first. I’ll check the room myself in a bit...” She rattled out.

Mark belatedly realized that entering a young woman’s bedroom wasn’t appropriate, so he nodded in agreement.

“Alright, I’ll go check the kitchen drain first. You’ll have to check your bedroom yourself. If there really is a rat and you can’t handle it, just call me for help.”

Alana quickly agreed, “Okay, okay!”

She quickly led him into the kitchen.

Seeing him carefully inspecting the drain, she slipped out of the kitchen, intending to chase the man out of the bedroom.

But just as she stepped out of the kitchen, she saw the bedroom door swing open, and Stephan actually strode out as if he owned the place.

As if he were walking through his own home.

Alana quickly glanced toward the kitchen, afraid the landlord’s son might see him when he came out.

Seeing that the landlord’s son was still working in the kitchen, Alana immediately rushed over to the man to stop him from wandering around.

“Stephan, I told you to stay quietly in your room. You’re not allowed to come out without my permission!”

“You... how could you...” His expression remained impassive as he casually curled the corner of his lips.

“What did I do?!”

“It’s stuffy in there. You won’t let me come out for a walk?”

Alana was almost speechless at his retort.

She widened her beautiful eyes, her gaze brimming with accusation.

“Then what was all that commotion you were making in there just now? Do you have any idea? Just now, the landlord’s son almost...”

Stephan cast a casual glance her way, his expression impassive, betraying no emotion.

“I just got a little carried away after hearing some bad news. Besides, nobody noticed, did they? What’s the deal with you?” A hint of sarcasm lurked beneath the man’s deep, husky tone.

It seemed to carry a faint hint of displeasure.

Alana found this odd. What had she done to upset him this time?

She glanced quickly toward the kitchen again, took a deep breath, and nodded.

“Alright, I won’t hold it against you. The landlord’s son is working on the drain in my kitchen right now. You should leave first. If he finds you here later, it’ll be hard to explain.”

Stephan narrowed his dark eyes as his towering figure inched closer to her. “Why would it be hard to explain?”

She glared at him.

Seeing her reaction, Stephan’s lips twitched into a mocking smile.

“Afraid your boyfriend on a business trip might find out?”

He’d been wondering why her boyfriend hadn’t shown up, turns out he’d gone on a business trip.

Hmph, all the better that he’s on a business trip.

If he was on a business trip, he would be able to keep his eyes on Alana, this little white rabbit. So, she’d have no choice but to be the object of his desire, this rogue’s.

Ideally, before that boyfriend returns, he’ll have Alana completely under his thumb, so she’ll never be able to leave him.

Alana had no idea about the dark, sordid thoughts in the man’s mind; she just wanted to get him out of there as quickly as possible.

“It’s not like that. You go out first. If someone else finds out, it’ll be hard to explain our relationship.”

Stephan’s eyes were as dark and deep as pitch, bottomless, with not a glimmer of light. “Wouldn’t it be just fine if we were discovered? Then everyone will know that you’re cheating on your boyfriend, who’s away on a business trip, with me...Come to think of it, that’s actually pretty thrilling...”

Alana’s breath caught in her throat as she stared at him in disbelief.

She hadn’t expected him to say something like that.

He’d thought she had a boyfriend, and yet...

Suddenly, Mark’s voice came from the kitchen.

“Lana, are you there? The drain is totally clogged. Can you come over and give me a hand?!”

“I...”

Before Alana could even speak, the man in front of her suddenly pressed against her, pinning her against the cold wall.

His warm, moist lips pressed against her delicate ear.

He sucked gently.

Sensual, suggestive.

Her body trembled uncontrollably; a tingling sensation, like an electric shock, made her go weak all over.

Her lips trembled. “Step...Stephan, what are you doing? There’s still someone in the kitchen...”

Even if he wanted to, he couldn’t wait for Mark to leave?!

Stephan bit her ear, his voice low and hoarse. “It’s more exciting with people around. After all, what we’re doing right now is an affair, isn’t it? Tell me, what do you think would happen if the landlord’s son caught us getting intimate like this?”
