Chapter 83: Chapter 83 My friend not me

Darla bit her lip.

The repeated blows left her feeling deeply resentful.

Could she really not win him over?

She was reluctant to believe it.

The more he rejected her, the more it sparked an unwarranted desire to conquer him. She wanted to conquer him completely.

Darla looked up and asked, “What about the girl you like? Surely this isn’t just an excuse you made up to reject me? Actually, there’s no such girl.”

Cynthia nodded. “Exactly. Where is she? If she really exists, why don’t you bring her home so I, as your mother, can meet her?”

If he were to bring any woman home, would she really be worrying so much about him?

What Cynthia feared most was that he wouldn’t bring a woman home, but a man.

If that day ever came, she’d surely have a heart attack from the shock. But she knew she’d have to get over it, eventually.

If her son was gay, there was nothing she could do about it.

Love is love at the end of the day.

But she really wanted a daughter-in-law.

Stephan lowered his gaze, his deep voice tinged with impatience. “I’ve told you, I’m still courting her. Once I’ve won her over, I’ll be more than happy to bring her home for you to see.” In fact, he was even more impatient than his own mother right now.

He was eager to bring that little white rabbit, Alana, home.

But what could he do? She wasn’t interested in him yet.

So he just had to be patient for now.

Darla was surprised. “I never would have thought you’d be the one to actively pursue a girl!” She’d assumed that a man like him would just wait for women to come after him.

Stephan shot her a sidelong glance with his deep, dark eyes, his tone utterly detached. “What’s wrong with taking the initiative to pursue a girl? I enjoy the thrill of the chase.”

Darla curved her lips slightly. “As it happens, so do I. It seems we have quite similar personalities.”

Stephan rolled his eyes. “Similar personalities don’t necessarily mean we’re compatible.”

Darla, however, was confident in herself. “It doesn’t matter. Since you haven’t won that girl over yet, you’re single right now. I still have a chance.”

She wouldn’t budge an inch.

Stephan couldn’t be bothered to waste any more time with her. He stood up. “Suit yourself. I’ve got things to do. I’m leaving.”

Cynthia frowned. “Wait, we haven’t had dinner yet!”

Stephan remained expressionless. “Eat what? I’m not in the mood. Aren’t you the one who’s been pushing me to bring a woman home? I’m going to work on that right now, so you don’t have to worry about setting me up on blind dates every day.”

Cynthia gasped.

Stephan left just like that, without a moment’s hesitation or a single glance back.

Leaving a mess behind, it was naturally Cynthia, his mother, who had to clean it up.

“I’m sorry, Darla. My son is just like that, he doesn’t take to discipline.” But he’s just cold on the outside and warm on the inside. He may speak harshly, but deep

down...”

Oh, she had no idea what was going on in his mind.

But his sharp tongue was real.

Darla smiled, understandingly saying, “I know. Maybe this is just his way of testing me.”

Cynthia looked surprised. “You... don’t blame my son for treating you that way?”

Darla shook her head. “I don’t blame him. Actually, I think he’s quite interesting.”

Cynthia chuckled. “If you find my son interesting, feel free to keep in touch with him. I’ll make sure you have opportunities to see each other.”

“Okay, thank you, Auntie.”

Darla thanked her, then watched Stephan’s retreating figure, a determined gleam flashing in her eyes.

*********

Stephan drove away from Hudson Mansion, with no particular destination in mind, simply driving aimlessly.

He didn’t head straight back to his house, nor did he go to Alana’s complex.

After all, even if he went to her apartment, there was no guarantee she would open the door and let him in.

But he couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Not seeing her for even a day made him feel uneasy.

Stephan pulled over to the side of the road and rolled down the window.

Feeling restless, he lit a cigarette.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, he took out his phone, hesitated for a moment, then sent a message to Gary.

Stephan. Hey. So a good friend of mine asked me to ask you a question.

Gary was bored anyway, so he replied right away.

Gary: What’s up?

Stephan took a drag on his cigarette and lazily blew out a smoke ring.

His slender, jade-like fingers tapped the screen casually.

Stephan: My friend asked me to ask you: how do you go about pursuing a girl?

Gary frowned.

Gary: Which friend of yours? You didn’t just make that friend up, did you?

Stephan: Cut the crap and answer my friend’s question.

Gary laughed.

He kept going on and on about his friend.

He’d never seen Stephan be so devoted to a friend before.

This “friend” was clearly Stephan himself.

Gary: Is that "friend" of yours a homewrecker, trying to steal someone else’s woman?

Stephan’s jaw clenched.

Couldn’t they just have a normal conversation?

Stephan:If you won’t say it, then forget it.

Gary. Fine. Fine. Sorry. I will help your “friend” out. You’ve come to the right person for this, I’m the best at chasing girls! No matter how hard a woman is to win over, in my hands, she can’t escape the three-day rule!

Stephan grimaced: What do you mean?

Gary: It means that within three days, I guarantee I’ll help you, no, help your

friend, win that girl over!

Stephan perked up.

Stephan: Go on, I’d love to hear the details.

Gary: Seduce her!

Hasn’t he been doing that already?

Or wasn’t he doing it the right way?

He assumed it would involve sending flowers or things girls like, then waiting for the right moment to make a proper confession.

Stephan frowned.

Stephan: Explain. But this doesn’t seem very reliable.

Gary: Of course, it is! With your looks and physique, what woman could possibly resist you? If you send her a pic of your abs, I guarantee she’ll be head over heels for you, she won’t be able to sleep at night thinking about you!

Stephan’s eyelid twitched.

Stephan: I told you, it’s my friend, not me.”

Gary: Fine, fine, fine. It’s your friend, not you. Anyway, that’s exactly how I used to chase girls, I’d send them a pic of my abs, or more seductive picture and every single one of them couldn’t get enough of me. Women, no matter how aloof and reserved they seem on the outside, are actually even more lustful than men deep down! Who knows, maybe at night, she’s hiding under the covers, secretly scrolling through short

videos, checking out male models’ abs! Go on, go seduce her and win her over!

Upon hearing this, Stephan couldn’t help but look down, lift the hem of his shirt, and glance at his abs.

Eight perfectly defined, rock-hard abs.

Each one radiated pure testosterone.

Brimming with masculine allure.

He couldn’t help but recall the last time he’d taken a shower at her place, he’d walked out wearing only her towel.

Alana’s face had been flushed with embarrassment; she didn’t even dared to look.

If he sent her a photo of his abs, would she...look at them closely and intently?

Or would she...get all flustered and distracted all night and day?
