Chapter 187: Chapter 187 Beating him up

Cole frowned. “Can’t you just drive me home?”

“Sorry, I don’t know how to drive.”

“You’re lying. I’ve seen your resume, you said you passed your driver’s test.”

Alana couldn’t take it anymore. “Cole, don’t you get it yet? Do I need to spell it out everything? Fine! Let me be blunt: I don’t care about you enough to drive you home.”

Unable to bear her repeated refusals, Cole grabbed her hand and couldn’t help but pull her into his arms.

“Lana, are you still mad at me? Let’s not fight anymore, okay? Those unpleasant things from the past are long gone. Let’s just forget about them, okay? Let’s start over, hmm?” But the scene of the two of them entangled in the private room was spotted by Stephan, who had come looking for Alana.

His footsteps halted at the door of the private room. His dark eyes stared unblinkingly at the man and woman embracing inside, and a storm of emotion instantly surged within them.

What does “let’s not fight anymore” mean?

What did “the unpleasant things from the past” mean?

This man... could he possibly be her irresponsible ex-boyfriend who left on a

business trip?!

Has that ex returned from his business trip? And he was still hounding Alana, trying to get back together with her?!

Damn it!

Does this despicable man think her current partner was dead? How dare he try to steal her away?

Stephan’s eyes flashed with fury as he strode inside without hesitation.

Suddenly embraced, Alana couldn’t help but panic. She frantically pushed him away,

“Cole, let me go!”

Cole, intoxicated by alcohol, had no intention of letting go. As he held her close, he longed to merge with her completely.

“I won’t let you go, Lana. I’ve missed you so much. I want you back...please take me back. Lana, let me hold you. You’re mine, and I’ll never let you go for the rest of my life.”

Alana was furious. “Cole! If you keep this up, I’ll report you for harassment!” She struggled to push him away, but the disparity in their strength was too great; no matter how hard she resisted, she couldn’t break free.

“Lana, I know you can’t bring yourself to do this. You can’t bring yourself to treat me

like this...”

Before Cole could finish his sentence, a large hand suddenly grabbed him by the

collar.

Immediately afterward, a hard, solid fist slammed viciously into his face.

The searing pain hit him instantly, and he immediately tasted the rusty, metallic taste of blood from his gums. “You...”

Before Cole could get a clear look at who it was, another fist came crashing down. Accompanied by a voice brimming with malice, it slammed down hard on his head.

“How dare you touch her! Alana is my woman! You’re a worthless, scummy loser who’s already been kicked out, you have no right to touch her!”

“If I catch you bothering her again, I’ll fucking kill you...”

Upon hearing that the intruder was Alana’s boyfriend, Cole strained his eyes, trying to get a clear look at who he was.

But he’d had way too much to drink and was pretty drunk.

When he opened his eyes, the overhead lights stung them painfully.

On top of that, the man had already smashed his glasses. All he could make out now was a blurry, cold, and handsome silhouette.

Before he could make out the details in his hazy state, another fist came crashing down. Immediately after, the man’s knee slammed hard into his abdomen.

The excruciating pain in his stomach caused him to convulse; the alcohol he’d drunk all night came gushing out, his face contorted with agony.

The man then tossed him aside as though he were trash. He fell to the ground like a kite whose string had snapped, rolling several times.

Cole gasped for breath, struggling to get back on his feet. But just then, the man walked over, his expensive black leather shoes clacking against the cold floor as he advanced step by step, exuding a palpable sense of danger.

Cole coughed painfully. “Who...who...are you?”

“Who am I? You’re not worthy of knowing.” The man walked up to Cole and, without hesitation, stepped on his chest to prevent him from getting up.

The man’s foot bore the full force of his fury, as if he wanted to crush his chest.

“With a scum like you, you actually have the nerve to beg her to take you back?Where were you when she was sick? Where were you when she was being bullied at work?”

“Now that you’ve been dumped, you’re showing up with a thick skin begging to get back together? Sorry, but the man by her side now is me, and it’ll always be me. You’ve already been kicked out of the picture! I’m never going anywhere.”

Cole felt a wave of suffocation in his chest. Clenching his teeth, he asked, “You... what are you talking about?”

He couldn’t make head or tail of a single word.

Stephan’s thin lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. “Still playing dumb? I think you’re asking for trouble!”

With that, Stephan kicked him without hesitation.

The blows came one after another. Cole instinctively raised his hands to shield his head, but the cries of pain continued unabated, leaving him utterly helpless.

If he hadn’t been drunk and completely drained of strength, he wouldn’t have been so utterly helpless.

Alana watched the scene, speechless.

Stephan... how did he show up so fast?

She had just sent him a message, and he was here in less than a few minutes?

Could it be... that he’d actually seen Cole hugging her just now?

Seeing Cole beaten to a pulp, Alana was genuinely afraid that Stephan might accidentally kick him to death.

She rushed over to stop him. “Stephan, stop! Stop hitting him!” The girl grabbed one of his arms, tugging at him to stop him from continuing the beating.

Stephan turned to look at her, his eyes cold and dark. “What’s the matter? Does it hurt you to see me hitting him?”

He was clearly taking his anger out on him for her sake, yet she actually ran over to stop him?

The more he thought about it, the more he felt like a joke.

He was standing up for her, yet not only did she not care, she was actually pleading for this scumbag!

“Could it be that you still can’t let go of him?” The mere thought of that possibility made Stephan feel as if a jar of jealousy had been overturned inside him; the bitterness was practically bubbling up his throat.

“Afterall, it took a long while for you to dump him for me! Even though he clearly didn’t care about you, you still refused to leave him! Do you know how hard I tried to make you mine?! Now what? You...you’re going to make me the other man again?!”He glared at the girl in front of him, his dark eyes filled with a mix of anger and hurt, as if accusing her of being promiscuous!

As soon as Cole heard this, she knew he’d misunderstood.

He thought Cole was the boyfriend she had made up before.

She quickly grabbed his arm to explain,

“No! You’ve got it wrong, he’s not my ex...”

Stephan sneered, “You’re defending him so fiercely, he’s not your ex? Then what is he? You never broke up with him when we got together?!” Stephan’s heart ached recalling how this bastard had been holding her just now.

Alana was frantic with anxiety; her face flushed as red as a ripe apple.

“It’s true! He’s not who you’re thinking. Yes, he’s my ex but our relationship ended long ago. Before I met you. The boyfriend I told you about that was always on business trip doesn’t exist.”

Stephan froze, his dark eyes fixed intently on the girl’s beautiful, delicate face, almost

convinced he’d misheard her.

“What did you just say?”

Alana nodded, vigorously. “When you started coming onto me, I...I didn’t want to date anyone so I lied about having a boyfriend.”

Alana looked at the man’s handsome, expressionless face, unable to guess what he was thinking, and felt extremely anxious.

“Um, I didn’t mean to deceive you on purpose. It was just... a misunderstanding. I...didn’t really like you pestering me at the time, so... I went with the flow and let you keep thinking that...”
