Chapter 181: Chapter 181 His sincerity

“I believe in Lana. Even if things aren’t going well for her now, she’ll definitely get better and better in the future, she has what it takes.”

“Right now, you all look down on her, but just wait until she proves you wrong!”

Her other women paid no heed to Grandma’s. Someone who’s been written off since childhood, what good could she possibly amount to?

A sourpuss as a child was bound to remain a sourpuss forever!

**********

Alana spent the entire weekend practically never setting foot outside the house, just curled up in bed.

After all, she was on her period and had no energy for anything; she just wanted to stay in bed and rest up.

Stephan was very attentive as a boyfriend; he prepared all three meals for her every day and even made her soups to warm her belly and replenish her blood.

Whatever she needed, he provided.

He practically granted her every wish.

Alana felt like she was becoming more and more dependent on him. In the past, whenever she had her period, she had to handle everything herself.

Now, having a man by her side to lean on felt truly wonderful. Come to think of it, it wasn’t that she wanted to get used to being alone; it was simply that there hadn’t been anyone around whom she could wholeheartedly rely on.

Often, the more you depend on someone, the more you can’t help but worry about losing them.

That was exactly how Alana felt.

The only question is, how much longer can she rely on him?

Will there come a day when all this happiness bursts like a bubble at the slightest touch?

She dared not think too far ahead; she just wanted to cherish the present.

The future held too many possibilities, too much uncertainty. A beautiful time together was always fleeting.

************

Once the weekend was over, it was time for her to go back to work.

After two days of rest, Alana had mostly recovered.

That morning, Stephan drove her to the company building as usual. Alana unbuckled her seatbelt, gave the man a parting kiss, and was just about to get

out.

The man suddenly grabbed her wrist.

“Don’t rush off, take this with you.” He pressed a thermos into her hands.

Holding the thermos, Alana asked curiously, “What’s this?”

Stephan replied, “Ginger and brown sugar tea. If you feel any stomach discomfort, remember to drink it.”

Alana felt a warm glow in her heart. She had already told him she was feeling much better, but he was still so thoughtful and considerate, he’d even prepared ginger and brown sugar tea for her.

He really was... almost too considerate.

With his constant care, every day of her life had become more interesting.

Once upon a time, she hadn’t held much hope for romance; it was neither here nor

there, she could have lived her whole life alone.

Every day was as dull and monotonous as the last. But because of him, she now has a little something to look forward to in her daily life.

A smile involuntarily curled her lips, and her almond-shaped eyes sparkled with starlight.

“Okay, I understand.” Stephan curved his lips and reached up to ruffle her hair. “Have a good day. But, more importantly, remember to miss me.”

Alana nodded obediently. “Mm-hmm.”

After a moment’s pause, she realized she couldn’t be the only one thinking of him. “You have to miss me too.”

Stephan raised an eyebrow, finally realizing she wanted him to miss her too.

She was making more demands of him, that was good.

He really liked this sense of responsibility she was showing.

“As you wish, my girlfriend.”

Alana smiled sweetly and couldn’t resist giving him another kiss. “My boyfriend is so obedient. Here’s your reward.”

Stephan’s eyes sparkled slightly.

His girlfriend was actually taking the initiative to reward him?!

How rare!

He stared intently at her, his eyes burning with desire. “Sweetheart, I want more.”

He paused. “I can’t get enough of your cherry lips, I want to taste something else.” Can’t get enough?

Want to try something else?

What else does he want to eat?

Where else on her body could he possibly want to taste?!

Alana thought of the image of the man hugging her and devouring her for many nights, and her face flushed as red as a ripe berry.

“That’s enough. Don’t push your luck.”

I’m going to push my luck!

She teased him first and now she wants to run? No way!

Without a word, Stephan hooked his arm around her waist and leaned down to kiss her fiercely.

He kissed and devoured her! He unleashed every move he knew on her before finally letting her go.

************

Alana walked into the office holding the thermos the man had shoved into her hands, her lips still lingering with his distinctive scent, so intense.

That naughty man is getting better and better at this. She bit her lips, which were unnaturally bright and glossy, feeling both shy and sweet inside.

But the moment she stepped into the elevator, the man who suddenly appeared before her made most of that sweetness vanish in an instant.

Cole stepped into the elevator and casually closed the doors behind him.

Today, he was wearing a blue suit and a pair of silver-rimmed glasses.

The deep blue of his attire added a faint air of melancholy to his naturally refined and easygoing demeanor.

“Lana, you’re back.” Cole’s voice was gentle yet tinged with excitement. He couldn’t help but stare intently at the girl before him.

It had only been over a week since they’d last seen each other, yet he realized how often she had been on his mind.

He had come to this company for her sake. Without her, he suddenly felt there was no reason to stay at this company.

If it weren’t for her, with his abilities, he could find a much better place to go.

Facing Cole, Alana, however, appeared increasingly relaxed and composed. Perhaps she no longer harbored any feelings for him, so his presence stirred no ripples in her heart.

She gave a casual greeting, her tone tinged with detachment.

“Good morning, Manager Cole.”

Cole pursed his lips, ignoring her aloof tone, and asked with concern, “How is your grandmother doing?”

Alana replied, “She’s doing much better, thank you for asking.” Her tone was strictly business, as if she were reporting to him.

As Cole listened, the air of melancholy around him grew even thicker.

“Lana, I’ve missed you so much during the past week or so that you’ve been gone.”

The eyes behind his glasses were unfathomably deep, revealing his unmasked longing for her.

That intense emotion, on the verge of bursting forth, was something no thin pair of glasses could possibly conceal.

The elevator was too dimly lit for Alana to notice the possessive look in Cole’s eyes as he gazed at her.

Even if she had seen it, she would never have responded in any way. After all, some people, once missed, are truly lost.

She couldn’t keep looking back.

Besides, she already had Stephan.

So when Cole told her he missed her, Alana felt uncharacteristically calm.

“I hope you do not speak to me like that again, Manager Cole. A boss shouldn’t miss an employee. Except it’s because of work.”

Cole fixed his deep gaze on her.

He thought he’d made his feelings quite clear over the past few days.

Alana looked away slightly and said calmly, “No matter what your intentions toward me are, it’s impossible for us to be together again.”

Cole couldn’t help but step closer to her. “Lana, I don’t believe it. You used to depend on me so much, and you loved me so much...”

Seeing the man approach her, Alana instinctively took a step back.

“Lana, you still love me, don’t you? Getting together with Sophia made me realize that no other woman can ever take your place in my heart. I wished I had never let you go. Since we both still have feelings for each other, please give me another chance. Let’s get back together, okay?”

Cole cornered her against the elevator wall, staring intently at her as he spoke earnestly.

He wanted her to see that he was serious about her now. He would win her over with his sincerity.
