Chapter 121: Chapter 121 Coming with you
Stephan turned back, glanced at the stunned Alana, and curled his lips indifferently. “Too small. They don’t suit you.mThis bigger bouquet suits you better.” He deliberately emphasized the word “bigger.”
As if hinting at something.
Alana didn’t want to get the hint immediately, but her cheeks flushed slightly without her realizing it.
Maybe it wasn’t the man hinting at
anything; perhaps she was just reading too much into it. “Wh...what do you mean ‘big’ and ‘small’? What does it matter? Aren’t they both from you?”
Stephan’s thin lips parted slightly. “No. A man as big as me wouldn’t give you such a measly little bouquet.”
Alana gasped.
Fine, she knew he was “big,” but did he have to keep emphasizing it?
It was making her feel all flustered.
But if that bouquet of roses wasn’t from him, then who had sent it to her?
The man suddenly leaned in, closing the distance between them.
A dangerous aura radiated from his dark eyes.
“Lana, tell me the truth. Who’s the shady guy you’ve been seeing behind my back?”
Hearing the accusatory tone in the man’s voice, Alana hadn’t even had time to consider whether his status, as someone who hadn’t yet secured his position, made him the right person to question her, yet she already felt a pang of guilt.
“I...I didn’t. I have no idea who sent these flowers.”
Stephan narrowed his dark eyes. “Really?”
Alana nodded. “I...I really thought you sent them to me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have
taken a photo and sent it to you.”
Stephan raised an eyebrow; he was willing to believe that much.
“If you had known that the bouquet wasn’t from me, would you still accept it?”
“Of course not...” Alana answered, instinctively, but when she saw the man’s slightly raised eyebrow,
she couldn’t help but blush a little.
She inwardly berated herself for speaking too hastily.
Wasn’t that just telling him outright that she was making an exception for him, that she’d only accept it if he gave it to her?
You big mouth, rein it in next time!
Stephan gazed at the girl’s face, flushed so vividly it seemed ready to burst, as if he
had read her mind.
He asked deliberately.
“So, does that mean you only accepted it so preciously because you thought I gave it to you?”
Alana’s thick, long lashes fluttered slightly, her face as red as a peach, too
embarrassed to answer.
But inside, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
How mean.
He knew exactly what she was thinking, yet he insisted on forcing her to answer.
She wasn’t going to talk to him anymore.
Stephan watched Alana’s shy reaction and felt quite pleased.
He curved his lips into a smile, leaned in, and gently kissed the girl’s soft, rosy lips.
“My girlfriend, you’re such a good girl.”
Girlfriend?!
Did she even agree to that? He just goes and calls her that!
He was always trying to take advantage of the situation!
Alana puffed out her cheeks, wanting to argue back.
But she was holding the bouquet of roses the man had given her. Such a huge bouquet, so beautiful.
Alright, then, a gift from the hand, a debt to the heart.
She was in a good mood, so she decided not to hold it against him for now.
The man, having successfully stolen a kiss, asked cheerfully, “Where should we go
next?”
Alana hesitated for a moment. “Let’s go to Luca’s place.”
Life was a daily grind; she still had to work diligently.
Although she hadn’t signed an employment contract with Luca, since they’d made an agreement, there was no reason for her to go back on her word.
Stephan’s eyes darkened slightly. The thought that she was about to go help a man who liked her walk his pets made him feel a little jealous.
He really wanted to stop her.
But considering this was a part-time job she’d worked hard to secure, he couldn’t very well stop her just because of some petty personal feelings.
Never mind. He’d just spoil her.
“No rush. Let’s grab a bite to eat first.”
Alana had no objections; she was actually hungry.
“What do you feel like eating?”
“Anything’s fine. I’m not picky.”
Stephan took her to a Western-style restaurant.
The restaurant had an elegant and romantic atmosphere, perfect for a couple’s dinner date.
The table Stephan led Alana to not only featured romantic candlelight but also a
bouquet of exquisite roses in a vase.
Stephan gallantly pulled out a chair for her.
Alana instinctively said, “Thank you.”
Stephan paused. He really wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t.
Well, he was used to this. After they sat down, Stephan took the initiative to hand her the menu.
“Take a look at the menu. What would you like to eat?”
Alana took the menu and flipped through it.
She looked up at him and asked earnestly, “Are there any food you can’t eat? If you don’t have any dietary restrictions, let’s order the two-person set meal. It’s a better deal.”
Stephan curved his lips, looking at her amusedly. “What’s the matter? Are you worried about my wallet?”
Alana blushed and didn’t answer his question, instead saying to herself, “The two-person set meal is 20% off. It comes with two steaks, foie gras, pasta, and a fruit salad. Do you want it or not?”
Stephan smiled. “I’m fine with anything. I’ll go with whatever my girlfriend decides.”
Once again, she was left tensed by that word.
The double-portion set arrived quickly.
Alana picked up her steak and was about to cut into it with her knife.
However, she rarely ate steak, so her cuts were a bit clumsy. The next moment, the man suddenly took the portion she had cut and replaced it with one he had already cut.
“Eat mine.”
Alana looked at the man’s perfectly sliced steak, blinked, and said defiantly, “I can cut it myself.”
Although the cuts were a bit rough and irregular, as long as it was edible, that was fine. But deep down, she still wasn’t used to being taken care of by him.
Stephan took Alana’s plate and began cutting the steak at a leisurely pace.
Hearing this, he lifted his gaze and glanced at her. “I’m here, so just sit back and enjoy it. You don’t need to do it yourself.”
His gentle, magnetic voice made her ears burn slightly.
Her heart felt warm, too.
It seemed that being taken care of wasn’t so bad after all.
As far as she could remember, it had been a long time since she’d experienced the feeling of being so carefully looked after.
But the next second, she heard the man add another sentence in a leisurely tone.
“There aren’t many men like me who know how to serve their girlfriends a meal. If you come across one, you should cling to him like a vine, shamelessly and relentlessly. Otherwise, once this opportunity passes, you’ll never get another chance.”
Alana couldn’t help but give him a playful glare.
He really knows how to find a roundabout way to praise himself.
She might have grumbled to herself, but she couldn’t help but silently give him extra points for his gentlemanly behavior.
**********
After dinner.
Stephan drove Alana to the entrance of Luca’s house.
After the car came to a stop, Alana unbuckled her seatbelt, shot the man an awkward glance, and said somewhat
nervously,
“Um, you can go back now. You’ve taken me as far as I need to go.”
Stephan snorted lightly.
He’d come all this way, and now she wanted him to leave?
Tonight, no matter what, he was going to walk the dog and cat with her.
Why should other men get to walk the pets and he can’t?
If other men can do it, he had to do it too!
Besides, that guy, Luca was clearly interested in Alana.
He wouldn’t allow them to have a chance to be alone together under any circumstances.
So, the man spoke up, “I’m coming with you.”
