Chapter 101: Chapter 101 Rapid breaths

Stephan let out a low, soft chuckle.

His chest trembled.

The vibration reached her.

As if mocking her naivety.

Alana blushed even more deeply, her chest heaving with rapid breaths.

The same sensation rippled back to him. Stephan propped himself up slightly, his fingertips tangling with the ribbon on her bathrobe, winding it around bit by bit.

She was wearing a gray bathrobe, which gradually opened wider as he wound the ribbon tighter. At this moment, she resembled a lychee being gradually peeled by a man, slowly revealing the tender, soft flesh within.

Alana was incredibly nervous, her breathing growing more and more rapid.

She clearly should have kept refusing.

But her mind was a blank, as thick as paste, and her body wouldn’t move, watching helplessly as the man loomed over her, arrogant as an invader, shamelessly stripping away everything about her.

The ringtone of her cell phone suddenly blared.

Accompanied by a cheerful tone, it shattered the tension in the room. “I’m late! I’m late!”

“We’re going to be late for work!”

“The early bird catches the worm!”

“Are you getting up? Are you getting up? If you don’t, I’ll starve you to death!”

Stephan’s fingers paused mid-motion.

The comical ringtone snapped Alana back to her senses, and she looked as if she’d just woken from a dream.

Seeing the two of them in such an intimate position, with the sash of her bathrobe still wrapped around his fingers. Without a second thought, she pushed him away, snatched the sash back, and tied it securely around her waist.

She tied it tightly, making several tight knots. Having been pushed away, Stephan let himself fall back onto the bed.

Watching Alana frantically tie the knot on her bathrobe, he let out a faint snort through his nose.

If he really wanted to do something to her, it wouldn’t matter if she welded herself to the bed. Alana tied her bathrobe into a tight knot, making sure the man couldn’t undo it, before finally grabbing her phone.

She cast a wary glance at the man lying on the bed, swiped to answer the call, and cleared her throat.

“Hello...”

As soon as the call connected, Eve’s boisterous voice came through.

“Girl, you finally picked up! You took so long to answer, you almost scared me to death. I thought you’d been attacked by a robber!”

Rough words, but true. Just now... it really was a close call.

And on top of that, she actually didn’t put up much of a fight.

She’d really let herself go.

Stephan saw that she had answered the call and was about to tease her. But when he heard a woman’s voice on the other end, he held back.

Alana took a deep breath, trying to make her voice sound clear and calm.

“Eve, it’s so late. Is there something wrong?”

Eve said, “I just got a call from Luca. He said you got hurt while walking his pets. I

was worried about you, so I called to check on you.”

Alana replied, “I’m fine. It’s just a minor scrape, nothing serious.”

Eve blinked. “Just a scrape? From what he described, your scrape sounds pretty bad. At the very least, I need to rush over right now and take you to the hospital.”

Alana nodded. “Yeah, just a scrape. I already told Luca it wasn’t serious, but he’s making such a big deal out of it. You don’t need to come over.”

Besides, in her current condition, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to be around Eve.

Eve smiled. “If I don’t come over, I’m afraid a certain someone won’t feel at ease.”

Alana frowned. “Who?”

“Luca. From the sound of his voice, he seemed pretty worried about you. He even said there might be a dangerous person around you, and insisted I come see you in person and take you home.”

Alana glanced at the “dangerous person” lying on the bed.

Stephan “Dangerous Person” Hudson also lifted his gaze to meet hers, his eyes carrying a hint of wicked defiance.

Alana bit her lip, her cheeks flushing slightly.

“You... don’t listen to Luca’s nonsense. There’s no dangerous person here.”

“Is that so? But he told me there was a man with you. And that man also said... that he’s your man?”

Alana’s breath caught in her throat, and she couldn’t help but glare at the culprit.

Stephan, having been glared at, felt a slight thrill of satisfaction. He lazily shot her a look that said, “What can she do to me? I was just telling the truth, is there a problem with that?”

Alana clenched her teeth and explained, “No, no, he’s not my man. Just a friend, just joking around.”

Stephan frowned slightly, feeling a bit uneasy inside.

A friend?!

When will he finally get promoted to boyfriend status?

Eve asked curiously, “A friend? A male friend? When did you make a male friend?”

“Well... I just met him a few days ago.”

“Alright, then. When you get the chance, bring this male friend of yours out to

meet me. I’ll help you figure out if he’s trustworthy.”

Alana gave a nervous nod.

She thought to herself, I certainly can’t bring him over, what if he puts on a live sex show right in front of my best friend?

Eve spoke up again, “Lana, Luca asked you to stay at his place. Did you go?”

Alana shook her head. “No, I didn’t stay there.”

Eve asked, “Then where are you now? Are you still at the estate? With your injured knee, it must be hard to hail a cab. Why don’t I come pick you up and take you home?”

Alana replied in a low voice, “I...I’m already home. I’m lying in bed right now...”

Upon hearing this, Stephan let out a faint, dismissive snort.

In the silent room, it was particularly clear.

Eve heard it and felt curious.

“What was that sound?”

Alana’s breath caught. “N-no, nothing out of the ordinary. I’m standing on the balcony at home. It came from Old Fred next door...”

Eve was even more puzzled. “Didn’t you just say you were lying in bed at home? How did you suddenly end up on the balcony?”

Alana tensed.

This was terrible. Her mind was all over the place, and she was not making any sense.

Stephan watched Alana make a fool of herself with a smug expression, clearly enjoying the spectacle.

Alana gritted her teeth and desperately tried to cover her tracks.

“Yes, I felt uncomfortable lying in bed, so I suddenly dashed out to the balcony.”

Eve wasn’t convinced.

Was her friend really at home?

But if she wasn’t home, where else could she have gone?

After all, she was not the type to just casually stay at another man’s house.

Luca invited her to stay, and although she agreed verbally, she certainly wouldn’t

feel comfortable staying there.

As her best friend, Eve knew Alana’s temperament all too well.

She was a very innocent girl, conservative at heart, the classic “good girl” type.

So she would never go so far as to stay at a single man’s house, even if he wasn’t home.

But given the gender difference and the fact that they weren’t particularly close, it just didn’t feel right.

Little did she know that the best friend she considered to be innocent, conservative, and the epitome of a “good girl” was currently sitting on a mature man’s bed, chatting with her on the phone.
