Chapter 172: Gloomy
The difference in major and minor realms of strength and levels becomes progressively more exaggerated the further one advances in the realm.
For one, to cross over a minor realm of the early stage in the paragon realm to the mid stage is far harder than crossing the boundary of the major realms of grandmaster to paragon.
And this holds through for all other increments in levels, minor or major realms in the future.
The higher you climb, the harder it becomes to go any further.
But what’s most important is that, just as hard as it is to progress further, so too are the levels of strength exaggerated.
The strength gained from crossing minor realm early to minor realm mid in paragon is far more substantial than what is gained from crossing between the major grandmaster realm, to early paragon.
This holds true for all subsequent realms above or below.
Those at the Paragon Realm are seen as terrifying existences to all those below, but even at that realm, the difference between each individual minor realm is just as vast.
Only beings who are particularly favored by the world, like the heroes, could ever hope to breach this gap, or those who happen to possess really broken artifacts....
But artifacts are always limited to the level of those who made them, and without the required strength, one cannot activate certain artifacts.
Watching Sylvara finally show how monstrous she actually was got a little smile from Zorat.
The Knight captain and other master knights, including Urasmus, who had surrounded Sylvara’s horse in a protective formation....

Suddenly saw a gorgeous lady in a long, flowing white gown, with full, luscious silver hair, standing casually in front of the male adventurer, the giant wolf was about to charge at.
They all turned in bewilderment to see that Sylvara was no longer on her horse.
But before they could set aside the extreme fear that was holding them in place after seeing that beast reduce the heroes to such states.....
The beast was already on the move, growling with anger at yet another who now stands in the way of its prey.
Though Saintesses are not known for their combat skills....
They all have terrifying defensive capabilities that would put their foes through literal hell.
And just like the heroes who are favored by the world... the saintes were just as favored, with an insane boost to all their stats and abilities.
And most importantly....while the charging beast was at the early stage of paragon, Sylvara was at the peak. The battle had already ended before it even began.
"Light chain."
Sylvara’s soothing voice rang through, and her entire form began to glow softly, radiating the surrounding forest in a divine warmth.....
From nowhere, massive chains made purely of white luminous light converged rapidly in front of Sylvara before shooting straight at the advancing beast at impossible speeds.
Both forward ankles of the beast were directly impaled to the ground as it came to a sudden halt.
Not even allowing the beast enough time to cry out from the pain....
Two more chains dove straight into its back ankles, as all limbs were fastened to the ground, creating a four-pointed crater, with the giant wolf spread out in a grotesque display.

From its punctured wounds, the beast’s blood came pouring out, as it lay there helplessly growling in excruciating pain. These were not ordinary light chains; they inflict severe burning pains upon contact.
Everyone present watched in sheer terror as the serene saintess brutally tore holes into this formerly terrifying beast, like she was playing with a toy, and it dawned on them who was the actual monster in their midst.
Sylvara did not finish off the beast, as that would defeat the purpose for which all the heroes had suffered.
If she did deliver the final kill, she would gain some experience, but it would barely matter since she’s already so high leveled....
And even though she was already going to be getting a large cut of the experience because she intervened and she’s of such a high level.....
The heroes could still gain a lot, so long as she doesn’t land the final blow.
So the beast was left there writhing in anguish while Lilly got to work healing the heroes so they could all collectively land the final blow.
Lilly tried her best in healing Andrew, but her current sub healing skill, which did fine on the other heroes, was proving ineffective for Andrew’s current state.
So, Sylvarra had to step in again.
The skill Sylvara used on Andrew saved his life, but it was a very special skill that she won’t be able to use again for quite a while...
And Andrew, even though healed and on his feet like the rest, was still paying the price for drawing on a power he wasn’t fit to handle....
And after his condition was assessed, the conclusion was he wouldn’t be able to use or channel mana for at least a duration of seven days..... Maybe more.
Andrew knew of the dangers but still went along with it, and he was glad he survived with only this backlash.
But after the heroes had collectively put an end to the beast, the mood of the group had turned heavy and quite gloomy.
For the heroes, this was the first time for most, coming across a situation in this world where they had truly lost and almost lost their lives in the process.

The reality of this situation brought more into focus the fact that they were no longer in their safe, cozy world....
And they might lose their precious lives at any time.
The illusion that they had maintained all this while that they were so special, being those summoned from another world wth divine overpowered skill, was completely shattered after this altercation.
Absolute strength was all that mattered.... And now they know just how weak they truly are.
None was more broken than Ariana.
Unlike the others, she had only just come out of a life-and-death situation that almost led to her end, were it not for Caleb.
The thought that she had failed to predict the beast using a skill-based attack when she had expereinced first hand what such a powerful beast was capable of, left her feeling not only weak, but a little guilty for how things turned out.
Her nature of taking on the blame for such matters and all similar matters, bearing the burden and responsibility for her group of friends....at times like this was even more pronounced.
And there was just one person who had granted her an escape from such feelings....and her thoughts couldn’t stop going back to him, and how he had made her feel.
That night, as the heroes settled into their camps for the night, it suddenly began raining heavily, as if reflecting the solemn mood of the heroes, and more so, Ariana....
And after twisting and turning in her nightwear inside her mattress for a while, unable to rest her burning need for that person....
Ariana walked out into the rain.
