Chapter 138: CH. 138 | A Place for Wishes and Hopes
Done with Danxia Mountain, Lin Tian and An Yue flew together to the last of the six mountains.
All his other disciples had settled into their halls according to their fields of study. Only An Yue hadn’t yet.
Lin Tian was certain the sixth mountain was meant for An Yue.
From a distance, they could see the mountain rising high with a lush, green peak. An Yue looked at it and felt the excitement in her heart growing stronger.
The closer they got, the more they could make out towering granite cliffs jutting upward like thousands of swords piercing the sky.
The wind blew strong but not dangerously, producing a low hum in certain spots.
The two of them finally arrived and set foot on the mountain’s ground. The front courtyard in front of the hall building was vast, probably the largest among all the halls.
Her attention shifted when she noticed several pillars whose tops were carved into the shapes of swords and other weapons.
"Is this... my hall?" An Yue asked.
She walked quickly forward and reached the center of the grounds, her attention sweeping around her as she smiled taking in the neat, clean, and well-arranged buildings.
Beyond the courtyard and hall building, there was a bamboo forest area for training strength and sword swings, a two-stream waterfall, and lastly a meditation cave.
For practicing techniques, several dirt fields were available at different corners of the mountain.
An Yue was still soaking in the mountain, her heart still not quite believing she had actually become Head of this hall. Lin Tian was different.
He walked ahead and stood in front of the hall door, reading carefully the nameplate mounted at the front of the building.
"Last of all, Taixuan Mountain."
"Home of the Technique and Weapon Hall," Lin Tian added, reading the name carved into the wooden plaque.
An Yue turned and walked toward Lin Tian, her eyes drifting to join him on the inscription.
"Have you ever imagined... the Lingxian Sect growing like this, Yue’er?" Lin Tian asked quietly.
"I dreamed of it, but never imagined it would actually come true."
"But that hope appeared when you arrived," An Yue replied, glancing softly to the side.
Lin Tian smiled and gave a brief nod. He felt genuinely happy about what had happened today and where things stood now. His sect was growing fast and his disciples were multiplying.
For a sect, that was a good and promising sign.
He turned and looked in a different direction. There were many places still to explore, and An Yue was clearly going to love having her own space to train and teach her disciples in the future.
"What if we take a walk around for a bit?" Lin Tian asked.
An Yue turned and nodded, smiling wide and long as she looked at Lin Tian’s face with a fond gaze, "Of course. I’m happy if you’re willing to come with me."
Lin Tian and An Yue walked toward another part of the mountain. Their first stop was the dormitory building, located close to the hall courtyard.
The door opened and he could see the inside of the dormitory neatly arranged room by room, with each dormitory able to house around twenty disciples.
The furniture inside was simple but sufficient. The rooms were clean and free of dust or grime.
"If the hall’s disciples grow in number, we can build more dormitories around this mountain’s area," Lin Tian said.
"For now, this seems like enough," An Yue replied.
Done with the dormitory, they walked further away from the mountain’s central peak toward a different direction.
They entered a wide bamboo forest where both young and mature bamboo stood within view, though for now the younger bamboo dominated.
The color was a bright green and the shoots were still attached. Lin Tian tapped the trunk of a bamboo stalk and the sound it produced was dull.
For disciples just starting to learn how to use and swing a sword, young bamboo was indeed the best choice for them.
"It would be really enjoyable to train here," An Yue said.
"You’re right."
Lin Tian summoned his sword and swung it sideways. In a single sword sweep, the blade cleanly cut through several young bamboo stalks with ease and precision.
An Yue saw it and was a little surprised, but her attention wasn’t on Lin Tian. It was on the bamboo stalks.
It surprised her when the bamboo trunks began to regenerate, slowly but steadily. Lin Tian could see it clearly.
"The life energy in all six mountains is supplied by the sect’s spiritual vein. That allows the trees and plants here to grow back after being cut down," Lin Tian said.
"So you no longer need to worry about the bamboo in this forest running out," he added.
"That’s a relief. Very reassuring," An Yue replied.
They walked deeper into the bamboo forest and stopped when they saw a small rocky hill ahead with a spring at its peak, constantly flowing and creating a two-stream waterfall, its shape looking as though it were held apart by a stone sword.
Lin Tian reached his hand forward and drew the spiritual qi from inside the flowing waterfall, gathering it in his palm.
"This place is perfect for meditation, especially when you’re approaching a breakthrough moment," Lin Tian said.
"The water won’t run dry either. It will keep flowing as long as the spiritual qi vein holds."
An Yue nodded in agreement, standing at the edge of the stream from the waterfall, her eyes looking at the reflection of their faces in the clear water below.
"Lin Tian," An Yue called softly.
Lin Tian glanced over briefly and looked at her face, "What is it, Yue’er?"
"You’ve given the best of yourself to the sect, to your disciples, and especially to me," An Yue replied, "We don’t know how to thank you properly."
An Yue’s face flushed, her eyes drifting to the side with her pupils wide and full of warmth and affection.
Lin Tian noticed An Yue’s response and chose to stay quiet, giving her time to finish what she was saying.
"I don’t know how to repay you. You’re too good to us. That makes you precious," An Yue whispered.
Her steps lifted and moved closer to Lin Tian. Her slender, fair hand reached forward and gently brushed Lin Tian’s cheek, sending a strange flutter through both their hearts.
"I don’t want to be a burden to you. I also don’t want to see you get hurt. But I don’t know what I can do."
"It hurts when I see you injured. I want to do everything I can for you so I can stay by your side," An Yue said.
Lin Tian went quiet, then smiled wide as their eyes met. His hand reached forward and wrapped around An Yue from her waist, drawing her close into his arms.
"I’ve felt something different about you since the very first time we met. I’m happy and grateful that you’re part of the Lingxian Sect," Lin Tian said.
"Years of living in solitude, trying to understand the meaning of cultivation and immortality. But it only left my heart and mind empty."
"With you, I feel different. With you, I believe I can overcome that loneliness."
"So... stay by my side, Yue’er."
Before An Yue could respond to those heartfelt words from Lin Tian, he moved without hesitation, bringing his lips toward hers.
She saw it clearly. There was surprise in her heart, but the desire to have this moment was far stronger. She clearly wasn’t going to let it pass, not even for a second.
Their lips met in a tender kiss, accompanied by the gentle sound of the flowing stream and the quiet stillness of the bamboo forest behind them.
That day, they were truly inseparable, even as the heavens tested them.
