Chapter 136: CH. 136 | The Mystic Of Bagua Mountain

Done with Lingquan Mountain, Lin Tian arrived at the third mountain to the right of Wind Dragon Peak. The appearance of this mountain was a little different from the others.

Stone steps connected from the valley floor all the way up to the summit. A mystical white mist filled the area, carrying a bone-deep cold that put many of the disciples on guard.

Lin Tian was not. He saw no meaningful threat when he and the others reached the peak.

His hand rose and swept through the white mist, faintly sensing the qi aura contained within every particle of that thick fog.

Without using qi aura vision, a person could get lost on this mountain with no way out. Not just because of the white mist, but because of the mysterious array protecting the mountain.

"What mountain is this? It feels eerie and so quiet," An Yue said, rubbing her hands along her arms for warmth.

He raised his hand to chest height, his fingers forming a technique seal, then swept his hand to the side.

A white rune array appeared beneath Lin Tian’s feet and expanded until it covered the entire area, protecting his disciples and granting them qi aura vision to see through the mountain.

They began to make out what lay behind the mist: a hall building standing firm alongside other structures that resembled disciple dormitories.

A wide circular front courtyard had floor carvings forming patterns of basic runes.

"Those runes... is this the mountain for the Formation and Array Hall?" An Yue asked, curious.

Hearing the words Formation and Array Hall immediately captured Ya Fei’s attention.

She stepped forward with enthusiasm, eager to see what lay ahead, a place that might become where she trained in focused study.

Thousands of stone pillars rose high across different parts of the mountain.

The hall buildings were constructed from white natural stone and spiritual crystals, giving the place a grand feel even hidden behind the thick mist.

Lin Tian stepped forward and stood directly in front of the hall building, reading the name of the mountain and the name of the hall from the wooden plaque mounted at the entrance.

"Bagua Mountain and the Formation and Array Hall," Lin Tian said.

Ya Fei stepped alongside Lin Tian. "This place is mine."

"You’re right."

He produced a jade token and handed it to Ya Fei. The blonde-haired woman already knew what to do.

When her spiritual qi was channeled into the token, the jade inside lit up a bright white, and so did the jade mounted at the hall’s peak.

An Yue and the others saw it and smiled, a simple sign that Ya Fei had accepted her responsibility as Head of the Formation and Array Hall.

"There are a lot of records inside the hall about this place. I caught a glimpse of rune stone pillars, array observation towers, and that valley earlier for simulating formations and arrays," Lin Tian said.

His attention returned to Ya Fei and his hand reached out, giving her shoulder a gentle pat. "Can you... handle it?"

"I’ve been studying the art of formations and I’ve grown quite fond of it. I won’t let you down, Master Lin," Ya Fei replied.

Their eyes met briefly, then Lin Tian’s attention shifted when he saw a system panel appear before him. Not just any panel, but specifically a disciple task panel.

[2nd Ya Fei Disciple Task:]

[Objective: Learn two formations, one defensive and one offensive, within one year]

[Reward:]

[Disciple: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +150 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 10x Formation Jades || +10 Emotional Level]

[Host: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +300 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 1x Earth-Grade Array]

[Status: Completed!]

[Status Vision:]

[Name: Ya Fei]

[Emotional Level: Attraction (60/250)] [+10]

The disciple task panel appeared when Lin Tian interacted with Ya Fei, informing him that she had successfully learned two formations of two different types within one year.

Beyond the rewards, Lin Tian gained an increase in Ya Fei’s emotional level. Shortly after the panel, four items suddenly appeared as a result of completing the disciple task.

Two batches of low-grade spirit stones, a box containing formation jades, and an Earth-Grade array scroll.

He had thought the disciple task for Ya Fei wouldn’t come so quickly, but he was completely wrong. When that panel faded, another appeared in its place showing Ya Fei’s third disciple task.

[3rd Ya Fei Disciple Task:]

[Objective: Find and Learn 3 Arrays to increase essence and spiritual qi on Bagua Mountain]

[Reward:]

[Disciple: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +150 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 1x Profound-Grade Array || +5 Mid-Grade Formation Jades || +10 Emotional Level]

[Host: Chance to break through cultivation stage || +300 Low-Grade Spirit Stones || 2x Earth-Grade Arrays]

[Status: Incomplete!]

Find and learn three arrays to increase essence and spiritual qi. The only option there is essence-gathering formations.

Lin Tian nodded quietly, understanding what he needed to do. He handed one of the four floating items to Ya Fei, and she caught it right away.

She opened the wooden box and found ten jade gems she could use as formation cores, strengthening a formation’s duration, protecting the formation’s true core from being destroyed, and increasing a formation’s overall effectiveness.

Ya Fei couldn’t find words, but the expression on her face said everything Lin Tian needed to see. He could read the emotions of happiness, joy, and deep gratitude all written clearly across her face at the same time.

"Thank you... for this gift, Master Lin."

"Study and train hard. I’ll give you another mission soon. For now, you should stay here and get to know this mountain better," Lin Tian replied.

"O-Of course... I’ll do that."

Lin Tian said his goodbye to An Yue and flew away from Bagua Mountain with four people behind him: An Yue, Yun Yun, Luo Mei, and Cao Ying.

Three of the six mountains had been claimed by their hall heads.

Bright white light shone from the peak of each mountain, visible from a great distance. It made the Lingxian Sect’s atmosphere feel even more magnificent and sacred.

"Which mountain are we going to next, Master Lin?" An Yue asked.

"There are three mountains left on the left side of Wind Dragon Peak. We’ll head there," Lin Tian replied, glancing back at his three remaining disciples.

"You three should be ready. One of the mountains we’re heading to will likely be your hall," Lin Tian added.

Expressions of pure happy excitement lit up all three of their faces. All three of them couldn’t wait to arrive at their hall and see what the mountain where it stood actually looked like.

They arrived at one of the mountains. Lin Tian set foot on the hall compound’s grounds, his expression carrying a faint trace of surprise.

"Wait... is this?"
