Chapter 130: CH. 130 | An Yue Anger

Cao Ying turned and asked Wu Yue to put together a list of everything needed to help restore Lin Tian’s condition. Wu Yue nodded obediently, ready to carry it out properly.

On the other side, Li Qingxue glanced over at Grand Elder Han Xin. After making sure Lin Tian had safely returned to the sect, they needed to go back and lead the Yunlan Sect’s own recovery from the aftermath of the fight.

Once matters at the Yunlan Sect were settled, Li Qingxue and the others would come back to help Lin Tian.

"Then we’ll take our leave. We need to attend to several matters related to the Yunlan Sect’s recovery," Han Xin said, pressing her hands together and bowing to Cao Ying.

"Right. Lin Tian is safe at the Lingxian Sect. I’ll look after him," Cao Ying replied.

Before the two of them left, Li Qingxue took a brief step toward Lin Tian, who was still lying unconscious on the hall floor.

Her eyes narrowed with quiet sadness, her curiosity about Lin Tian’s reason for saving her still unresolved, just as Han Xin had said.

Perhaps while waiting for Lin Tian to wake up, she would spend a lot of time discussing with Han Xin about what might have driven him to do such a thing.

The two of them left the Lingxian Sect’s main hall and made their way out of the grounds. Only Lin Tian, Cao Ying, and Wu Yue remained.

Once Li Qingxue was gone, Wu Yue turned and looked at Cao Ying’s face. "What happened? What did she mean about Lin Tian saving them?"

Cao Ying let out a slow breath, then gave a brief shake of her head. She was just as confused as Li Qingxue when it came to Lin Tian’s actions.

The only part of the situation outside the Yunlan Sect that she could fully make sense of was the fight against twelve Perfect Nascent Soul cultivators.

"I don’t know... but something about him was different," Cao Ying replied.

"Different? In what way?"

"I can’t describe it precisely, but at the edge of death, he seemed to unlock a terrifying power that pushed his physical refinement to a completely different level," Cao Ying said.

"Physical refinement? Could it be... a heavenly physical ability?" Wu Yue asked.

Cao Ying had heard of heavenly physical abilities before, an ancient type of power that had been lost for thousands of years, originating from the Sacred Clan of the Divine Ancient Body.

She had only read and heard about it briefly, without ever knowing what its strength felt like, what form it took, or what consequences it carried.

But she felt certain that the Heavenly Physical Ability of the Sacred Ancient Body Clan... might look exactly like what Lin Tian had just shown.

"There’s no point guessing. We need to focus on restoring Lin Tian’s condition."

"First, recover his physical body. Then we’ll focus on restoring his mind, his soul, and his cultivation foundation."

Wu Yue put on a serious face, cleared her throat, and nodded in agreement with what Cao Ying said.

"He’s going to need a lot of time to recover."

"That’s fine. However long it takes, he still has to heal," Cao Ying replied, "The Lingxian Sect will lose its true protector if he dies."

The next day.

That morning, Cao Ying flew quickly from the rocky hill to the back courtyard, where Yun Yun and Ji Xue had already begun cultivating since early morning.

Her arrival in a flash of red light startled them. Outside of Wu Yue, not a single Lingxian Sect disciple knew that Lin Tian was in critical condition.

But to Cao Ying, they were still an essential part of the sect and deserved to know, even if the truth would feel like a bitter blow.

Yun Yun and Ji Xue paused their cultivation for a moment. Both stood up straight and pressed their hands together in a bow.

"Greetings, Master Ying."

"Yun Yun... could you call An Yue, Ya Fei, Luo Mei, and An Xiao here?" Cao Ying asked.

The woman went quiet for a moment, glancing sideways at Ji Xue beside her. It wasn’t like Cao Ying to gather everyone together. That was usually something only Lin Tian did.

"Understood. I’ll call them over," Yun Yun said.

She left the back courtyard, with Ji Xue following along to help. Cao Ying stayed where she was, her attention turned toward the main sect hall, where Wu Yue was already inside beginning to refine pills.

There was a great deal to do to get Lin Tian’s recovery started as soon as possible. Cao Ying only needed to wait until Li Qingxue from the Yunlan Sect arrived to help. After all, they had made a promise.

If that help never came, Cao Ying would make the most of whatever she and the Lingxian Sect’s disciples had to heal Lin Tian.

Before long, Yun Yun returned with An Yue and the others. They arrived in the front courtyard and stood in front of Cao Ying, pressing their hands together and bowing.

"Greetings, Master Ying."

"Since you’ve all come, it’s time I explained what happened," Cao Ying said.

"What happened?" An Yue asked.

Cao Ying went quiet for a brief moment, her eyes shifting to An Yue, then slowly moving across each of the others one by one.

Watching the seriousness on Cao Ying’s face made An Yue and the others uneasy. But for An Yue, a deep sense of dread was already settling in from the very fact that they had all been gathered here together.

"This is about Lin Tian," Cao Ying said, "His condition is serious because he fought against twelve Perfect Nascent Soul cultivators."

"WHAT?!" they all exclaimed, shocked and wide-eyed.

"F-Fighting twelve cultivators? All Perfect Nascent Soul?!" Ya Fei gasped.

"What happened? Why did he have to fight them? That’s insane!" An Xiao said firmly.

An Yue stepped forward close to Cao Ying, "What really happened, Master Ying? Please tell us!"

Cao Ying went quiet for a moment, not yet answering their questions. But she felt it would be better for them to come with her to the main sect hall and see Lin Tian’s condition for themselves.

An Yue was the first to run and fly toward the main sect hall. She pushed open the door and found Lin Tian lying on a bed wearing a white sleeping robe.

Not just Lin Tian. Wu Yue was there too, focused on refining pills from her cauldron.

When the door opened, Wu Yue looked up and saw An Yue in the doorway.

"Yue’er?" Wu Yue asked.

Without paying any attention to Wu Yue, An Yue ran straight to the bed where Lin Tian lay.

Her eyes took in Lin Tian closely. Her heart broke and her eyes filled with tears, her hands trembling violently, her mouth hanging open without a word, just staring blankly at Lin Tian’s pale face.

An Yue dropped to her knees right away and reached for Lin Tian’s hand, which felt cold and lifeless.

"M-Master Lin... Lin Tian?" An Yue asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"What happened to you...?"

Not just An Yue. Ya Fei and the others arrived in the main sect hall and saw An Yue kneeling beside the bed where Lin Tian lay.

Grief hit all of their hearts and minds with full force. They rushed over and filled the space around the bed, looking at Lin Tian’s condition up close.

The last to arrive in the main sect hall was Cao Ying. She closed the door right away, keeping the other disciples from knowing what was happening inside.

All six women were crying as they took in Lin Tian’s condition. The wounds on his body were still visible and far from healed, but that alone was enough to break them.

Wu Yue glanced over at Cao Ying and gave a small shake of her head, a brief signal asking Cao Ying not to share the details of Lin Tian’s full condition. That would only shatter what was left of their spirits.

"Right now... I, Wu Yue, and Li Qingxue are working to heal him," Cao Ying said.

An Yue turned sharply toward Cao Ying, her eyes red and her heart burning, "Did he get hurt because of that woman?"

Cao Ying looked at An Yue, unsure of how to answer. "It’s a bit complicated. I can’t—"

"Is she... the one who caused Lin Tian’s injuries?" An Yue asked firmly.

"Lin Tian’s condition... is connected to the Yunlan Sect."

An Yue’s expression shifted entirely. Her eyes turned sharp and cutting, her hands clenched so tightly they drew blood that dripped onto the floor.

Without another word, An Yue stepped away from the area around Lin Tian’s bed. Cao Ying turned and tried to stop her, but An Yue refused.

"Where do you think you’re going?!" Cao Ying snapped.

"I’m going... to make the Yunlan Sect pay for what they did to Lin Tian!"

"No. You can’t. The Yunlan Sect didn’t—"

While Cao Ying was still talking with An Yue, the main sect hall door opened, and a woman in an elegant blue gown stepped inside.

She had come with seven Yunlan Sect elders who were there to help restore Lin Tian’s condition.

An Yue turned to the side and saw the woman she blamed for hurting Lin Tian walking casually into the Lingxian Sect.

"LI QINGXUE!"

She summoned her sword and launched herself hard toward Li Qingxue, "I’m going to kill you!"
