Chapter 128: CH. 128 | Identity Revealed

Li Qingxue flew forward and directed thousands of sharp water crystals at the man. The Primordial Grand Heaven transformation had ended.

The golden tattoos across his body faded, the halo ring at his back disappeared, and his body was once again covered in wounds and blood.

"Now you’re finished, Fellow Daoist!" Li Qingxue said firmly.

Han Xin narrowed her eyes and flew toward Li Qingxue. Cao Ying had made it below and caught Lin Tian, then raised her hand and summoned a red protective qi wall.

BLAST!

An explosion went off accompanied by a strong gust of wind, pushing some people back, while Han Xin held her position in front of Li Qingxue.

"What are you doing, Grand Elder Han?" Li Qingxue asked.

"We cannot kill him, Sect Leader Li."

Li Qingxue narrowed her eyes and fixed a sharp look at Han Xin. With her strength, she swept her hand to the side and shoved Han Xin away from the area.

Han Xin, outmatched in strength, was pushed far back and failed to stop Li Qingxue. The woman pointed at the middle-aged man and struck him with a heavy wave of cultivation pressure, leaving him helpless.

"I’m going to need a lot of explanations from you, Grand Elder Han!"

Li Qingxue raised her hand and swept it to the side, dispersing the cloud of smoke that had been blocking her line of sight and preventing her from seeing what was happening.

The smoke cleared, leaving Cao Ying kneeling in midair with Lin Tian lying across her lap. Li Qingxue looked confused. Cao Ying seemed far too calm.

"W-Who... what are you doing?" Li Qingxue asked, pointing at Cao Ying.

The woman turned and looked up. Her hand rose, summoning a red qi glow, and their disguises began to fade away. Cao Ying’s face returned to its true appearance, and so did her red robe.

Li Qingxue’s eyes went wide with shock, her heart pounding hard at the sight of Cao Ying standing in front of her this whole time.

"So... you’ve been Cao Ying all along?"

"If you’re Cao Ying, then is he—"

"That’s right," Cao Ying replied. "He’s... Lin Tian."

Li Qingxue went quiet for a moment, her hand moving to her forehead where the white tattoo had been left by the restriction seal now embedded in her body.

Too many questions were haunting her mind, too many things she didn’t understand. Li Qingxue glanced to the side of Cao Ying, and the man’s appearance began to change as his spiritual qi was no longer sufficient to hold the camouflage in place.

Lin Tian’s face became clearly visible to Li Qingxue, still wearing his white-gray robe, the upper half torn away, parts of his body wounded, bruised, and bleeding.

"We need to get him treated right away," Cao Ying said. "The fight against those Perfect Nascent Soul elders... it drained his spiritual qi heavily."

Li Qingxue was still quiet and unresponsive, then gave a slow nod, her heart still full of confusion.

She asked the other elders to bring Lin Tian to the Pill Refinement Hall to be treated, while several elders and core disciples worked together to restore the sect, from repairing the protective formation to assessing which disciples had been injured and which buildings had been damaged.

She raised her hand and lifted the cultivation pressure from Han Xin. Han Xin stood up, still clutching her tight chest, her eyes fixed ahead as Li Qingxue approached.

"Sect Leader Li..."

"Tell me. Did you already know that he was Lin Tian?" Li Qingxue asked.

Han Xin took a long breath and let it out slowly. She lifted her head and looked Li Qingxue directly in the eyes.

"I’m sorry I didn’t tell you this before. But he wanted me to keep it from you until the fight had truly ended," Han Xin replied.

"I don’t understand. This was none of his business. The matter of dual cultivation has nothing to do with him. He and the Lingxian Sect have no standing in the Qin Sect Alliance," Li Qingxue said, confused.

"I can’t say for certain what his reason was either."

"Is it possible... that he was trying to help you get out of that dual cultivation obligation?" Han Xin asked.

Li Qingxue stepped to the side and looked straight toward the sect’s main hall. She saw the sky above the sect once again covered by the formation dome, while the other elders and core disciples worked together restoring the damaged buildings inside and treating those who had been hurt.

"He’s not even part of the Yunlan Sect," Li Qingxue said. "So what was his real reason for helping me?"

"I think only Lin Tian can answer that question, Sect Leader Li."

Curious about Lin Tian’s condition, Li Qingxue and Han Xin flew toward the Pill Refinement Hall to see how things were up close.

They arrived and found Lin Tian floating above a water pool in the Pill Refinement Hall’s medical treatment room. When they entered, the other elders immediately bowed their heads in greeting.

"What’s his condition?" Li Qingxue asked.

"His body has sustained a great deal of damage. Many of his bones are shattered and his meridians have cracked. In a condition like this, recovery will take a long time," one of the elders said.

"How long?" Li Qingxue asked again.

"My estimate... three to four years here, but it would be significantly faster if treatment were carried out somewhere with an abundance of spiritual qi and natural elements that match his own," the elder replied.

Cao Ying listened to the explanation and turned to speak to Li Qingxue. "There’s only one place with a dominant wind element, and that’s Lingxi Hill."

Li Qingxue turned and looked at her. "You mean... he would recover at his own sect?"

"That’s the best option. Not only is that hill rich in wind elemental energy, the spiritual qi there is also plentiful," Cao Ying replied.

The Pill Refinement Hall elder turned and had to agree with Cao Ying. For the best recovery, Lin Tian needed to be brought back to the Lingxian Sect as soon as possible and treated intensively there.

"If we force him to be treated here, it will take far too long, and I’m worried his condition will only get worse," the hall elder said.

Li Qingxue went quiet for a moment, feeling a mix of frustration and embarrassment that neither she nor her sect could be the one to restore Lin Tian’s condition, even though he had done so much to help her, for reasons she still didn’t fully understand.

But Li Qingxue couldn’t afford to be selfish. Either way, the advice they had given was sound and sensible, a perfectly reasonable response to Lin Tian’s current situation.

With a heavy heart, Li Qingxue took a long breath and gave her permission for Lin Tian to be taken.

"I and Elder Han will accompany you to make sure you’re safe. I’ll see to it personally that Lin Tian gets back safely and begins his recovery."

Cao Ying gave a flat nod. "Thank you, Sect Leader Li."
