Chapter 124: CH. 124 | Dual Cultivation Candidate

Lin Tian clearly saw them being welcomed by a crowd of sect elders. The elders of the Yunlan Sect came out to greet the group’s arrival, a stark contrast to how he’d been treated.

That made sense to Lin Tian, since he’d come to the Yunlan Sect uninvited, without notice, and in a fairly rude manner.

The golden robed sect delegation flew straight into the main hall area of the sect, personally escorted by the elders.

Lin Tian felt curious about what was going on. Still, it wasn’t his goal to dig into whatever the Yunlan Sect had planned.

Relations between the Lingxian Sect and the Yunlan Sect were good right now, and finding a sect worth talking to was hard enough as it was, especially for the Lingxian Sect.

I’d better not get mixed up in their business and just stay focused on my own goal.

He waved his hand to the side and shifted the look of his robe from the plain white and gray one to the black robe he used for his usual disguise.

Just as the elder had told him earlier, Lin Tian would wait at the guest house until it was his turn to meet Li Qingxue.

Lin Tian went inside the house and sat down on the cultivation altar. Even though the Yunlan Sect didn’t have an overflowing amount of spiritual qi, there was more than enough to pass the time with.

While the man focused on cultivating, the sect’s formation gate kept opening again and again to welcome the arrival of other sect delegations.

Besides the two sects that had arrived earlier, about eight more delegations showed up.

The elders and outer disciples were run off their feet that day, since these were all allies of the Yunlan Sect who’d come specifically to meet Li Qingxue.

Lin Tian figured their talks would wrap up in a single night, but as it turned out, they were still deep in discussion all the way into the third night.

He had no idea when his turn would come, but the longer he waited, the more curious he got about what they were actually discussing.

Not wanting his curiosity to keep gnawing at him, Lin Tian opened his eyes and paused his cultivation for a moment.

I need to know what’s going on.

He raised his hand and activated his spiritual qi, pressing down on the restriction seal planted in Han Xin’s body.

Elsewhere, Han Xin, who was in the middle of chatting with elders from other sects, was suddenly hit with a sharp pain in his body.

He faintly heard a whisper in his ear, a voice only he could hear.

Meet me at the guest house. There’s something I need to talk to you about.

Han Xin fell silent, clicking his tongue, irritated that Lin Tian was messing with his life again through that restriction seal.

"Forgive me, fellow elders. I need to step away to handle something," Han Xin said.

"Of course, Fellow Daoist Han. We’ll stay here and enjoy the feast," another sect elder replied, letting Han Xin go without any suspicion.

The middle aged man clasped his hands together and left the main hall. In the blink of an eye, he arrived at the guest house where Lin Tian was waiting.

"Can’t you just wait?! You keep messing with my life, Lin Tian!" Han Xin complained.

Lin Tian stepped forward coldly as he opened the door, letting off a powerful qi aura befitting a Perfect Nascent Soul cultivator, right in front of Han Xin.

Sensing it, Han Xin immediately shut up and stopped overreacting.

"Is there some kind of event going on at the Yunlan Sect?" Lin Tian asked.

"That’s right."

"What is it?"

"A banquet to choose a dual cultivation candidate for Sect Leader Li," Han Xin answered.

"Oh... dual cultivation? Isn’t her cultivation base already at Nascent Soul?" Lin Tian asked, confused.

Normally, the process of dual cultivation, or marriage, happened for those still at the Core Formation stage.

The benefits of merging and combining energy would be far more effective for them while breaking through to Nascent Soul, rather than doing it after already reaching Nascent Soul.

In short, doing dual cultivation now was already too late. Still, that didn’t mean it was forbidden.

"Li Qingxue is a Perfect Nascent Soul cultivator. Dual cultivation won’t help her toward comprehending the dao," Lin Tian answered.

"You wouldn’t understand. This is an obligation," Han Xin explained.

Lin Tian’s eyes sharpened, narrowing the moment he heard the word obligation come out of Han Xin’s mouth.

"What obligation?"

"You’re not part of the sect. You don’t have the right to know," Han Xin said.

Lin Tian let out a slow breath, raised his hand to chest height, and stretched it forward, palm open, qi aura gathering above it.

With just a gesture of his fingers closing around that gathered qi, Han Xin instantly dropped to his knees on the floor, clutching his tight chest, his breathing short and ragged, sweat soaking his whole body.

"Stop... please," Han Xin begged, helpless, coughing up blood.

Lin Tian stopped what he was doing and let Han Xin’s pain ease. The man got back to his feet, still clutching his tight chest, the aftereffect of Lin Tian’s restriction seal.

"Actually... it’s an obligation from the three main sects of the Qin Sect Alliance."

"They want Sect Leader Li to undergo dual cultivation with one of their best disciples, someone still at the Perfect Core Formation stage," Han Xin explained.

"If Sect Leader Li agrees to it, the Yunlan Sect will gain major influence within the Qin Sect Alliance," Han Xin said.

The man looked a bit startled, then turned to look toward the main hall with sharp eyes, "So what’s your decision?"

"We don’t know. Sect Leader Li’s torn over it too, because..."

"Because what?" Lin Tian asked, glancing back at Han Xin.

"Because if Sect Leader Li agrees to marry one of them, she’ll have to leave the Yunlan Sect and join their sect instead," Han Xin said quietly.

Lin Tian listened closely, then let out a small laugh, both hands resting on his hips. Honestly! The problem Li Qingxue was dealing with was seriously messy.

If she got too caught up in something like dual cultivation, she’d never get the chance to reach heavenly enlightenment and grasp the true concept of the dao.

"Good grief. Do I really have to get involved in this mess?" Lin Tian asked, sighing in irritation.

"Y-You... you’ve got a plan to shut this whole thing down?" Han Xin asked, looking eager, like an elder who didn’t want to lose Sect Leader Li.

Obviously they didn’t want to lose Sect Leader Li. Li Qingxue was the founder of the Yunlan Sect and a Perfect Nascent Soul cultivator, incredibly valuable to a sect like Yunlan.

There was a good chance the other elders felt the same way. None of them were on board with the mandatory proposal from the Three Main Sects of the Qin Sect Alliance.

Lin Tian stepped forward, making Han Xin flinch. He came to stand right beside him, tilting his head back to look up at the sky over the Yunlan Sect.

"You said Li Qingxue’s being matched up with their best disciple, right?" Lin Tian asked.

"T-That’s right."

"Well then," Lin Tian said quietly, turning to speak softly to Han Xin, "I’ll just have to kill them all."
