Chapter 121: CH. 121 | Ocean Mirror Barrier Technique
***
The next day.
Life at the Lingxian Sect returned to its usual rhythm, but not for An Yue. After her short conversation with Lin Tian the night before, her heart felt lighter and more spirited than ever.
It was because the two of them had made a vow tied to immortality together, and An Yue was certain Lin Tian would never break that vow for another woman.
With her heart in a good place, An Yue’s training progressed remarkably. As she began practicing her profound-grade technique through direct hands-on training, she needed an open stretch of land to use the technique at full strength.
The reasoning was simple: avoid anyone getting hurt while practicing a profound-grade technique.
An Yue swung her sword hard enough to shake the surrounding trees.
In the back courtyard, Ya Fei’s runes lit up one after another in sequence.
From the pill hall, the occasional small explosion could be heard from Luo Mei’s training.
Yun Yun and Ji Xue stayed in the front courtyard, focused entirely on their cultivation.
Lin Tian smiled. His disciples had found their purpose in cultivation. He was certain they would only keep getting stronger from here.
He was outside with Cao Ying, some distance from the Lingxian Sect grounds, specifically in the area behind the sect. He opened the Earth-grade technique scroll given to him by Li Qingxue, the Ocean Mirror Barrier Technique.

There was a good reason for him to study it. He had only ever learned offensive techniques up to this point, and defense mattered just as much as attack.
He summoned an orb of white spiritual qi at his fingertip and sent it into the technique scroll. Gradually, a stream of spiritual qi flowed out from within the technique and made its way into Lin Tian’s forehead.
Cao Ying stood nearby, watching closely as Lin Tian absorbed the technique through his comprehension ability.
Thanks to the Absolute Dao Emperor Comprehension he possessed, he grasped the core of the Ocean Mirror Barrier technique in under two hours.
A powerful burst of white qi went off, kicking up strong gusts of wind in every direction. Cao Ying quickly stepped back, recognizing that Lin Tian was ready to take an attack.
"Are you ready?" Cao Ying asked.
Lin Tian stood and opened his eyes, turning to face Cao Ying, "Go ahead."
The woman moved fast. Both her hands formed technique seals, summoning a large red rune in front of her face.
With a forward thrust of her arm, she sent a spear of flame hurtling toward Lin Tian.
He watched the strength of Cao Ying’s technique carefully. Drawing on his understanding of the technique, he formed his own seals and activated the Ocean Mirror Barrier.
A blue rune appeared, accompanied by a massive mirror and a powerful surge of water, the momentum of qi forming flawlessly.
The flame spear shot forward and struck the mirror, immediately shaking the water’s surface but ultimately held back by the water mirror.
Cao Ying narrowed her eyes sharply, watching with certainty as the strength of her flame spear was successfully contained.
Not wanting to let it end there, she manipulated the water current and began wrapping it completely around Cao Ying’s flame spear.
Cao Ying’s flame spear stopped advancing, its power trapped, its qi momentum gone. With a single clenched fist, he shattered the flame spear entirely.
A massive burst of qi went off, catching her off guard. Cao Ying was pushed back slightly, clutching her chest as it tightened.
He swept his robe sleeve aside, ending the Ocean Mirror Barrier technique, and saw that Cao Ying was hurt.
"Are you alright?" Lin Tian asked.
"I’m fine," Cao Ying replied, "I didn’t expect the mirror’s strength to be that powerful."
"Li Qingxue gave me a strong technique. Of course I wasn’t going to let it go to waste," Lin Tian said.
Cao Ying stepped closer to Lin Tian, "Do you have any plans for finding your dao concept?"
Lin Tian went quiet for a moment, glancing toward the wide stretch of land behind the sect. There were plenty of Nascent Soul cultivators around, but very few Soul Formation cultivators.
The reason wasn’t because they had gotten too comfortable. A dao concept was simply hard to come by. It required a true alignment between one’s mind, body, and cultivation path.
"With your ability, you could take on at least an Early Soul Formation cultivator and seize their dao concept for yourself," Cao Ying said.
"That’s the fastest path to reaching Soul Formation."
Lin Tian listened, letting out a breath. Many cultivators went that route, but he worried that a stolen dao concept might end up holding back his cultivation path instead of helping it.
A great deal of mismatch could happen when a dao concept was forcibly taken from someone. The taker only gained the cultivation base, not the actual strength of the dao itself.

But it would be a different story entirely if Lin Tian reached Soul Formation by forming his own dao concept. He would gain two advantages at once: his cultivation base and a stable dao strength of his own.
"I’m not going to rush into that. So there’s no need for you to keep asking."
"When the time comes, I’ll find my own dao concept," Lin Tian said.
"Alright. But I’ll warn you. Finding your own dao concept could take up your entire lifespan."
Lin Tian listened carefully, since Cao Ying was the only Soul Formation cultivator in the Lingxian Sect. She knew far more about dao concepts than he or any of the other disciples did.
A disciple came running from the front of the sect, arriving at Lin Tian’s training ground. The young man told Lin Tian that a sect had come knocking at their door.
Knocking at the door was the common term for another sect arriving to issue a challenge.
"Looks like I can put this technique to use against them," Lin Tian said.
"I’ll come with you."
Lin Tian and Cao Ying flew off quickly and arrived in front of the Lingxian Sect. Lin Tian’s eyes narrowed sharply, taking in the sight of the purple-robed sect that had come to pay a visit.
These were the ones who had kidnapped An Yue the night before, the sect of the seductive woman with the charm-laced eyes.
This time, they had come with a large group, flying through the sky on their qi swords.
Lin Tian stopped and stood on the sky floor, walking forward with Cao Ying beside him.
"I figured you’d come, the moment one of you started following me," Lin Tian said.
"Now, I don’t have to hold back anymore," Lin Tian added.
He raised his hand and activated his spiritual qi, making the sky above the Lingxian Sect rumble with thunder and crackling lightning.
The disciples of the visiting sect panicked, gripped by fear. But one of the women in a purple gown flew forward toward Lin Tian.
"My apologies for the sudden visit. We have no intention of attacking you," the woman said, the same one from the day before.
"You?"
"We are the Yingzun Sect. We’ve come to propose working together with the Lingxian Sect," the woman replied.
Lin Tian was a little taken aback hearing that, "Working together? Do you know how our sect is viewed by the Qin Sect Alliance?"
"Actually... the Yingzun Sect was rejected by the Qin Sect Alliance."
"We’re not part of them."
Lin Tian looked somewhat surprised and let the thunder in the sky fade away, "That’s unexpected."
"If you want to speak with me, you should have your Sect Leader come herself."
In the middle of their exchange, a beautiful woman stepped forward from the crowd of cultivators.
She stood with elegant poise on the sky floor, dressed in a striking purple gown with a draped sash, a purple crown resting in her hair.

"Goodness, why are you so harsh with me, Sect Leader Lin?"
Lin Tian looked at her. The momentum of her qi aura felt familiar, on par with an Early Nascent Soul cultivator, clearly weaker than his own.
But that wasn’t her real strength. Her true power lay in her aura of charm and allure.
"It would be far better if we could speak somewhere quiet, calm, and private, just the two of us."
"Because what we need to discuss is going to be quite long and tiring," she said.
"Who... are you?" Lin Tian asked.
"How foolish of me, I forgot to introduce myself," the woman said, smiling temptingly.
"I’m Si Lingxi."
"And I’ve come... to offer a deal to the Lingxian Sect."
"What?" Lin Tian asked.
Si Lingxi stepped closer to him with graceful poise. Lin Tian stood his ground, not moving, letting her come close enough to whisper beside him.
"Have you ever heard of the Saintess Spring Valley?"
