Chapter 67: You Have Obtained Jealousy Points

Luellen frowned at Leander first before throwing it at Beckett. Because of what Leander called a cute face, her anger couldn’t intimidate the younger brother. She said, "Is that true? Please don’t give my friend’s number to a womanizer. That’s cruel, Beck. I will get upset if you do that."

Beckett giggled and waved his hand lightly. "Just doing due diligence. That guy is still going to ferry us back, remember? I’ll only tell him that Summer likes commitment. He will surely vanish like smoke around her."

"The audacity..." Houston huffed in between cookie bites. Beckett only pressed his palms together and did an apologetic gesture at the male secretary.

"Sue!" As if making Beckett feel guiltier, Luellen called Summer as soon as the other woman reached them. She easily got out of the seat through a gap between her chair and the wall next to her.

Luellen held Summer’s vacant hands and slowly pulled her to the back, where the kitchen was. The two servers stayed on one side, so Luellen could bring Summer to another. It didn’t help that Summer giggled at Luellen’s puffed cheeks.

The pretty friend smiled at the maiden. "What’s wrong, Lue? Did Mr Beckett tease you too much?"

"Not really..." Luellen continued holding Summer’s hand. She glanced at the servers who were busy with a movie they were watching on someone’s phone. She turned to Summer again. "Uhm, the plane’s owner... Beckett said he was asking for your number."

"Hm? Yeah, I already exchanged numbers with him." Summer’s smile didn’t even change. It made Luellen pout.

The maiden looked down at her hands on Summer’s. "That guy is bad news. He’s entertaining other women. Does he want to go out with you? He sounds like a heartbreaker..."

Summer raised her brows. She rubbed the side of her neck. "Lue, don’t worry about it. It’s not like I can’t vet men. They come around and ask for my number all the time. I have my own guards against them. However, Mr Lyle is our ride to and fro. I can’t upset him all that much.

"Of course, he can only do things within reason." Summer chuckled and patted Luellen’s head. "If he acted out of line, I will complain to Mr Beckett. Mr Leander doesn’t like his brother having problems, so I might benefit from that just the same. I think I got my bases covered!"

"Huh?" Luellen flinched. "You... You’re not planning on going out with him, even if you gave him your number?"

"No." Summer’s word was soft, wary of being gossiped about by the two servers. She then laughed. "It’s fine, Lue! I’m so used to these pretty girl problems. I have enough wits to solve them...!"

Luellen nodded and slowly released Summer’s hand. "That’s a relief, to be honest. I... I must have overreacted..."

Summer giggled and stroked Luellen’s head. "Let’s find a good excuse to stay here longer. Hmm... there should be a few biscuits or fruits here."

"Why? We have cookies at the table..."

"I’d rather reserve the cheat day energy when we get to the hotel buffet. That means low-calorie food for me before then." Summer chuckled and looked through the fridge. "Those cookies are sweet and made without modifications. I don’t want to feel guilty after eating it."

"What are you talking about?" Luellen watched her friend ask the servers for the watermelon slices inside the fridge.

Summer snacked on one and handed Luellen another. "I worked so hard getting you to eat for the last few months. If I didn’t, you’d be skin and bones in weeks. You’ve returned to normal. I had to work on getting my ideal weight back now. Don’t worry. I won’t starve myself."

Luellen received the watermelon. However, she only stared at it. "Oh... I’m sorry about that, then."

...

Loud gasps of awe came from Luellen and Summer as they entered the luxurious convention center. One massive floor was allotted for the entire business convention, where exhibitors showcased their products, hoping to attract investors or build a network with suppliers. Instead of hawking voices, most exhibitors used music and light-up banners to call attention. Too much noise would land them some penalties.

Leander didn’t come here for that, but the bidding was part of the program. Perhaps the organizers would like to let the amateur entrepreneurs see what happens during such events.

However, the bidders knew full well that the big project just wanted to tell everyone who to blame if it failed.

"Oh, my God... is that Leander Wentworth?" A whisper started a cacophony of voices. Luellen could hear Leander’s name all over as they passed. More and more gazes landed on them, making Luellen shiver.

"Maybe we shouldn’t have walked around instead..." Luellen let out a breath. She glanced at her sides, seeing how many necks stretched and eyes grew clearer at Leander’s image. She turned to Leander, who walked beside her. "Uhm, I’ll just go around with Summer before we leave..."

"Do they make you nervous?" Leander pulled her closer to him, his arm wrapping around her shoulders protectively. "No one will hurt you."

Luellen’s eyes grew wide at the obvious favor. She figured it was normal since Leander was her fiancé now. However, she only wore her regular office clothes and makeup today. Wouldn’t these people look down on Leander’s choice upon seeing her?

[You have unlocked a Super Task! Reap 100 Jealousy Points in one hour! Time limit: 00:59:59 (0/100)]

’Jealousy points? Right now?’

Luellen flinched at the sudden Super Task. Worse, it was time-limited to just one hour! However, instead of panicking, she frowned and looked around the place some more.

’Jealousy points... Is there another Love Interest in the convention? It can’t be Leander... I’m right next to him...’

"What’s wrong, Luellen?" Leander asked from beside her. "You slowed down. Did you see something you want to check out? We can break off the group. The bidding doesn’t start before one."

Luellen looked up at him and nodded with a smile. She linked their arms together and pulled him to one exhibitor’s booth. "Look! They’re selling orthopedic seat cushions. I was thinking of buying one for my chair. I just never had the time to shop. It looks... cutting-edge!"

Leander almost snorted, but he didn’t fight Luellen’s tug. He even smiled at the strange action. "The seats in the office are already the best you can find in the market. You still need an orthopedic seat cushion?"

"Humph..." The maiden pouted toward Leander. "I get so stiff every time I clock out. My thighs ache, too."

"...? Do they?" Leander only chuckled. He pulled Luellen back with a gentle tug, making her lightly collide against him. Her head got so close, so he planted a kiss on her crown. He then said, "I’ll buy you one, then. Let me know which one you like."

A blush ran across Luellen’s cheeks at the overt action. Even her ears reddened. She could only smile to relieve her shyness. "Sure..."

[Double damage! Critical Hit! You have obtained Jealousy Points +20!]

Luellen’s smile lessened.

’...don’t tell me Nathan Chrome is here!’
