Chapter 81: Delegate
The Hunger Beyond accelerated.
Reality did not merely fracture under its momentum; it actively screamed. The creature did not move through space; rather, space itself folded, crumpled, and unraveled around it. Entire sections of the broken sky collapsed inward as the void entity advanced toward the mortal world. Mountains crumbled to dust, clouds ceased to exist, and the fundamental parameters of existence deteriorated with every passing second.
For the first time since the seals had begun to fail, genuine fear spread through the academy grounds. It wasn’t the chaotic panic of a disorganized crowd, but the cold, paralyzing dread of witnessing an inevitable end.
The elite Hunters moved instantly. Twenty figures vaulted into the air simultaneously, their movements a blur of gold and black. Runed spears materialized in their hands, and ancient combat formations ignited around their bodies, making the air tremble under the sheer, concentrated pressure of their cultivation.
Lyra took the lead, her silver hair whipping in the violent wind. "Formation Nine!"
The other Hunters responded without a millisecond of hesitation. Years of ruthless, agonizing training condensed into a moment of perfect synchronization. Twenty spears pointed directly toward the approaching void, and the sky exploded with power.
A massive, dark-silver runic circle materialized over the rift, throwing down millions of ancient symbols older than the empires of man. Colossal chains erupted from the formation, slamming directly into the shifting mass of the Hunger Beyond.
For one brief moment, the entity stopped.
*Interesting. Very interesting.*
The mortal combatants could actually affect it. But the victory lasted less than three seconds.
Deep, jagged cracks raced across the silver formation, and the ancient chains shattered into harmless light. Half of the strike force was thrown backward like broken dolls. Several spat blood, and one fell trailing a severed arm. The Hunger Beyond continued its forward march—completely untouched, utterly unimpressed.
Lyra’s expression went deathly pale, but her eyes burned. "Again!"

The remaining Hunters immediately began to reform the line.
### The King’s Heart (35%)
Orion watched the struggle from the plaza floor. The transfer continued to surge.

◈ ◈ ◈
The Sovereign Core inside his chest had transformed into something entirely unrecognizable. Golden authority flowed through his spiritual veins—not as wild energy or standard mana, but as pure, immutable law.
*The King’s Right* pulsed rhythmically in tandem with his heartbeat, like a second existence slowly waking up within his soul. The system notification remained floating in his periphery, counting down the metric.

The Old Bastard stared at the numbers, then at Orion, and then back to the interface. "Oh, this is going to be incredibly stupid."
The Founder projection looked suspicious. "What flavor of stupid, exactly?"
"The highly dangerous, highly experimental kind."
"Ah. The usual kind, then."
"Precisely."
Neither of the ancient entities seemed remotely pleased.
Beside them, Caelum coughed violently, his body swaying. The lock surrounding the sky seal flickered, and the golden chains holding the rift groaned under the strain. The black-haired cultivator’s face was completely bloodless, yet he was still wearing that infuriatingly peaceful smile.
Orion wanted to punch him. Possibly more than once. Heroes were exhausting.
Caelum met his gaze through the chaos. In that quiet second, Orion realized the man wasn’t smiling because he lacked fear; he was smiling because he had already accepted his death as a settled transaction. The realization made Orion’s stomach twist.
The transfer climbed.

### The Sacrifice of One
A new memory struck him like lightning, and the ruined academy vanished.
Darkness swallowed his vision, replaced once more by an endless field of cold stars. Standing before him was the First Sovereign—uncorrupted, human, and looking unspeakably tired. He looked centuries older than he had in the previous memory. These visions weren’t random; they were sequential.
The First Sovereign sat alone on the grass. No throne, no divine light, no grand display of power. Just a weary man sitting beneath an infinite void.
After a long silence, a second figure approached: the Old Bastard. He looked younger here, wearing a look of annoying, youthful confidence.
The First Sovereign let out a soft laugh. "You were right."
The younger version of the founder looked surprised. "About which specific disaster?"
"There have been multiple?"
"Oh, dozens."
The First Sovereign smiled weakly, pointing toward the stars. "I shouldn’t have continued climbing."
The Old Bastard sat down beside him, and the two remained quiet for a long time. Finally, the founder asked, "Do you regret it?"
The First Sovereign stared at the countless worlds spinning in the deep. A long moment passed before he whispered, "No."
The answer surprised Orion. It seemed to surprise the founder, too. "Why?"
"Because they survived," the First Sovereign said softly. The smile faded, replaced by hollow eyes. "They just had to survive me, too."
The vision shattered, and the battlefield rushed back.
Orion finally understood. The First Sovereign wasn’t a villain or a tyrant who sought dominion. He was simply a man who had made a single mistake too massive for reality to support. He had tried to carry the weight of existence entirely on his own shoulders, and the burden had crushed him.
### The Core Principle (40%)
The Hunger Beyond lunged forward, accelerating with terrifying speed.
The Hunters’ defensive formations shattered like glass, unable to keep pace with the localized gravity of the void. The creature ignored them entirely, its massive, empty gaze locked onto a single target: Orion.
The System flickered to life.

The transfer metric hit 39%. *The King’s Right* pulsed violently, causing the ground beneath them to tremble.
The First Sovereign’s projection looked alarmed. "No..."
The Old Bastard, however, let out a sharp, wild grin. "Oh, yes."
The Founder groaned. "Oh, no."

It seemed everyone knew exactly what was about to happen—except Orion.
The metric rolled over.

Reality exploded into brilliant, blinding gold. The sky, the crumbling academy buildings, the strained seals, and the distant mountains were completely submerged in a sea of radiant light.
◈ FUNCTION UNLOCKED ◈
*THE KING’S RIGHT*
*Authority Two: DELEGATE*
*Description: The King Does Not Rule Alone.*
◈ ◈ ◈
Instinctive understanding flooded Orion’s mind. The system didn’t give him instructions; the Authority simply explained itself directly to his soul.
*Command* allowed him to impose a singular law upon reality. *Delegate* allowed him to share the burden of that law.
*Interesting. Very interesting.*
The Old Bastard pointed frantically at the dying cultivator. "Do it! Now!"
"What am I doing?" Orion demanded.
"Delegate!" the founder roared. "The lock!"
The pieces clicked together in Orion’s mind. The celestial lock was actively killing Caelum because a single human soul was attempting to anchor the weight of a dying dimension. *Delegate* changed the rules of the transaction. The Sovereign Path wasn’t meant to create a single god; it was meant to build a network.
The First Sovereign had failed because he tried to hold the sky alone. *The King’s Right* existed to make sure no one ever had to do it again.
The Hunger Beyond roared, the sound splitting the remaining sky as the seal began to rupture. Caelum fell to his hands and knees, blood pouring from his eyes.
Orion stepped forward, the golden authority within his blood boiling. For the second time, he spoke to the universe.
"Share."
Golden chains of pure, conceptual light exploded from Orion’s chest. They shot across the battlefield instantly, linking him directly to Caelum, to the Founder, to the Old Bastard, to Lyra, the Hunters, Selene, Vale—and every single person on the field who carried the will to stand.
The lock trembled, and then stabilized.
Caelum gasped as the crushing, lethal weight was instantly lifted from his shoulders. It wasn’t gone, but it was split, distributed, and anchored across dozens of strong souls. The impossible burden had suddenly become bearable.
The golden chains surrounding the seal flared with blinding, rejuvenated light. The broken sky began to knit itself back together, forcing the rift closed.
For the first time since it had breached reality, the Hunger Beyond looked deeply unsettled.

The Old Bastard burst into a loud, triumphant laugh. The Founder stared in disbelief before joining him, and even Caelum let out a ragged chuckle of sheer relief. They were actually winning.
Then, the void creature stopped thrashing.
Its colossal, faceless head slowly turned away from the seal, looking at something directly behind Orion—something invisible to the rest of the battlefield. The massive entity began to tremble violently.
For the first time, the Hunger Beyond showed genuine, primal fear.
◈ WARNING ◈
*Additional Authority Detected.*
*Unknown Presence Approaching.*
*Designation: [REDACTED]*
*Status: AWAKENING*
◈ ◈ ◈
The Old Bastard’s laughter died in his throat. His face went completely white.
Orion slowly turned his head, realizing that whatever was waking up next... might be older than the Sovereign Path itself.
