Chapter 434: Chapter 434: The First Mage of the Northern Territory
Susan wanted Li Wei to explain what he had been doing inside the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm.
Naturally, Li Wei wasn’t going to explain.
He had no need to.
"This is my private business. It has nothing to do with you."
"You’re looking for information related to Dragon Fall Slope. Don’t pry into my private affairs."
Hearing this, Susan wanted to press on and demand a clear explanation from Li Wei.
However, her reason told her that she couldn’t keep pushing.
For one, even if she did, Li Wei wouldn’t necessarily tell her.
For another, Li Wei had the power to refuse her questions.
He had already refused once.
Susan didn’t want to make it impossible to ask her other questions.
Seeing this, she decided to ignore what Li Wei had been doing inside Dragon Fall Slope.
Susan moved on to questioning him about her mission objectives.
"Your Excellency, Grand Mage Li Wei, have you seen the Giant Dragon within the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm?" Susan asked.
Li Wei’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at Susan and asked, "Who sent you?"
Susan said, "Your Excellency, Grand Mage Li Wei, you need only answer my question."
"If you insist on knowing who dispatched me, then I can only tell you it was Your Majesty."
Li Wei recalled his last experience inside Dragon Fall Slope.
’The matter of the Giant Dragon probably can’t be hidden.’
Li Wei shook his head and said, "I haven’t."
Susan’s gaze sharpened. She was certain Li Wei was lying.
Just as she was about to speak, Li Wei continued, "I haven’t seen a Giant Dragon, but I have seen the traces it left behind."
Hearing this, Susan quickly pressed, "Grand Mage Li Wei, please elaborate."
Li Wei said, "There’s not much to say. You’ll see for yourselves when you go in."
"I suspect that a long time ago, there might have been a Giant Dragon in the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm. But too much time has passed. That dragon may have died, or perhaps it left."
"In the deepest part of the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm, there’s a collapsed cave. Inside, there are some traces left by a Giant Dragon."
"I can’t describe the specific situation to you. If you insist on knowing, you can go see for yourselves."
Susan looked at Li Wei and made a request.
"Then, we must ask Your Excellency, Grand Mage Li Wei, to help us open the passage to the Secret Realm."
It was a trivial matter for him.
But Li Wei had no intention of helping her so easily.
Li Wei said, "This is not my obligation. By answering your questions, I’ve already been very cooperative."
"Don’t push your luck."
His tone made it obvious what he thought of her polite ’please’.
If a simple request was all she had to offer, then there was nothing to discuss.
’Who can’t say a few nice words? Did she really think just asking nicely would get me to help her?’
’That’s underestimating the status of a Grand Mage far too much.’
Susan’s heart sank. She didn’t know what to do.
She couldn’t force Li Wei, either.
Even if her entire Beixuan Dark Guard Squad attacked at once, they might not be able to defeat Li Wei.
Seeing this, Susan turned to James and said, "Mage James, do you have a way to open the Secret Realm?"
James felt like he’d just been caught in the crossfire.
He cursed inwardly, ’Why are you dragging me into your conflict?’
He snuck a glance at Li Wei and saw him smiling faintly, as if enjoying the show.
James then knew that Li Wei was, in fact, capable of opening the Secret Realm Passage.
He just wasn’t willing to.
James quickly shook his head and said, "You give me too much credit. If I had the ability to open the Secret Realm Passage, the Mage Association wouldn’t have been guarding the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm for a year."
"Forget the Mage Association—in all of Maple City, in the entire Northern Territory, only Grand Mage Li Wei possesses such an ability."
Li Wei shot James a look.
He was speechless. ’You’re laying it on a bit thick, aren’t you?’
’The entire Maple City, the entire Northern Territory...’
Susan was now in a difficult position.
With no other choice, she bowed her head again, adopting a more sincere attitude to beg for Li Wei’s help.
"Your Excellency, Grand Mage Li Wei, I apologize for my previous offense. Please be magnanimous and forgive my rashness."
"I implore Your Excellency to help open the Secret Realm Passage. This matter is of great importance. Afterward, I will report your great contribution to Your Majesty."
Li Wei was getting goosebumps just listening to her.
He really wasn’t used to being flattered.
Li Wei thought to himself, ’Forget it. The sooner this is over, the sooner I can leave.’
He looked at Susan and said, "Let me make one thing clear. I can help you, but after I’m done, this has nothing to do with me. Don’t come looking for me again."
Hearing this, Susan quickly replied, "Of course. Thank you for your help, Your Excellency."
But she was thinking something else entirely.
’There’s no way I’m just letting Li Wei walk away.’
’He still hasn’t explained so many things. I can’t just let him go like this.’
However, Susan didn’t plan to keep pestering Li Wei either.
Li Wei’s power was too great, and his background was too profound.
Susan felt she couldn’t afford to provoke him.
She prepared to report the matter of Li Wei to her superiors and let them worry about it.
Li Wei performed a Space Ripping Spell, making a casual slash with his hand.
The space beside him ruptured, revealing a passage leading to the Secret Realm.
Li Wei said, "This is a temporary passage. It will only last for three minutes at most."
Susan was about to enter when she heard Li Wei’s words, and she found herself in a dilemma.
’What if I go in and can’t get out?’
James’s eyes lit up when he saw Li Wei open the Secret Realm Passage and heard what he said.
He hurried forward and said, "Don’t worry, you can leave this to me. I can stabilize this spatial passage."
Ever since the Mage Association lost its chance with the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm last time, they had been trying to find a way to claim it for themselves.
The most important part of claiming it was having a stable Secret Realm Passage.
Therefore, the Mage Association had long since prepared the Magic Items needed to maintain a Secret Realm Passage.
And James had brought them with him.
Hearing this, Susan looked at James and said, "Then I’ll leave it to you."
James gave an order to the people behind him, who quickly spread out, taking out various items and beginning to set them up.
Time was tight, and James was afraid the spatial passage would disappear within three minutes.
He looked extremely tense as he worked.
Five minutes later, all the Magic Items were in place.
The spatial passage had not yet disappeared.
Li Wei glanced at the Magic Items that James and his people had set up.
A Space Stabilization Array and a Space Teleportation Gate.
James checked the time and gave Li Wei a grateful look, knowing that Li Wei was helping maintain the spatial passage.
Otherwise, it would have disappeared long before they finished their setup.
James activated the Space Stabilization Array.
The rapidly fluctuating spatial rift gradually stabilized.
He seized the opportunity and pushed the Space Teleportation Gate into the spatial rift.
He activated the Space Teleportation Gate, and the spatial rift automatically conformed to the gate, taking on its shape.
With that, a stable spatial passage to the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm was established.
A smile spread across James’s face. "It worked! Hahaha..."
It was his first time doing something like this.
Before this, everything had only been theoretically possible.
The joy of success made James momentarily forget his purpose for coming to Dragon Fall Slope.
But Susan had not forgotten her purpose. She sent her people into the Secret Realm to explore and search for the cave Li Wei had mentioned.
As for Li Wei, he slipped away quietly after the Space Teleportation Gate was stabilized.
