Chapter 433: Chapter 433: Life Potential Potion
"You’re Li Wei?"
Susan’s sharp question took Li Wei by surprise.
He felt like she had some kind of problem with him.
But he didn’t even know Susan.
Li Wei looked at her and asked, "I am Li Wei. Who are you?"
"Susan, Great Knight and captain of the Beixuan Dark Guard’s sixth squad."
Susan stated her name and title to Li Wei with a stern expression.
Hearing Susan’s name, Li Wei found it vaguely familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before.
But he couldn’t recall where.
It probably wasn’t important, which was why he couldn’t remember.
Susan looked at Li Wei, her expression grave, and said, "Mage Li Wei, please come back with us to be investigated."
Li Wei’s brow furrowed slightly. He looked at her and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Have I done something wrong?"
Susan said, "His Majesty is investigating an incident related to Dragon Fall Slope. Since Mage Li Wei has just been inside the Dragon Fall Slope Secret Realm, you will naturally need to explain the situation to us."
Li Wei let out a short laugh, then said seriously, "What I do is my business, isn’t it? It has nothing to do with you."
"Besides, what does your investigation of Dragon Fall Slope have to do with me? If you want to investigate it, go right ahead. The Secret Realm is right here. Go inside yourselves if you’re so capable."
"I have other matters to attend to. If you’ll excuse me."
Li Wei turned to leave.
Susan drew her Knight’s Sword and pulled down her visor, preparing for battle.
"Stop. I must ask that you cooperate with us. Otherwise, you will be dealt with for violating the laws of the Beixuan Kingdom."
Standing behind Susan, Lanya felt a pang of regret seeing how things had escalated.
However, she didn’t dare say anything.
The military regulations of the Beixuan Dark Guard were extremely strict.
As the squad captain, Susan had made a decision, and Lanya could only obey without question.
Once Susan was ready for battle,
the others drew their weapons and aimed them at Li Wei.
Li Wei glanced at the group and laughed out loud.
"You’re all so brave!"
Susan said grimly, "This isn’t bravery. This is the duty of the Beixuan Dark Guard. We will press forward, even in the face of death."
"Is this your knight’s spirit?"
Li Wei retorted.
"Truly a dedicated Knight."
He chuckled.
The mention of the so-called "knight’s spirit" suddenly jogged Li Wei’s memory of who Susan was.
Back then, Reina had ventured out of Maple City in the middle of winter to search for the missing Susan, only to be ambushed by roaming Beastmen.
Li Wei had even gone to help.
He had heard Susan’s name from Reina.
He glanced at Lanya. It seemed the Professionals who had gone missing back then had all been recruited by Otz as soldiers.
Since Susan was determined to do this the hard way,
Li Wei didn’t mind showing them the difference in their strength.
A Grand Mage was not someone just anyone could provoke.
Li Wei released his Spiritual Perception and got serious.
After perceiving Susan and Lanya’s strength, he was slightly startled and a little surprised.
It wasn’t that he was shocked by how strong they were.
Never mind a Tier Four Great Knight; Li Wei had even faced Legendary Level enemies.
What surprised him was the sheer speed of Lanya and Susan’s improvement.
If he remembered correctly, Lanya had only been a Tier One Swordsman a year ago.
In just one year, she had actually become a Tier Three Swordsman.
That rate of growth was simply absurd.
Susan and Reina had been classmates, so their strength should have been roughly the same.
In other words, Susan had also been a Tier One Knight a year ago.
In just one year, she had already broken through to Tier Four and become a Great Knight.
Such a rate of advancement was almost unbelievable.
Suddenly, Li Wei sensed that the Life Force emanating from the two of them seemed a bit too vigorous.
Their Life Force was so abundant it was practically overflowing.
His Spiritual Perception swept over the other members of the Beixuan Dark Guard.
He discovered that every single one of them had the same overflowing Life Force.
Li Wei’s gaze sharpened; he realized something was wrong.
He carefully perceived Lanya’s physical condition.
He discovered that the vigorous, overflowing Life Force was just a false appearance.
On the surface, her Life Force was exceptionally strong, but internally, it was depleted and hollow.
In other words, her Life Potential had already been exhausted.
Li Wei suddenly understood why Lanya had been able to advance to Tier Three in just one year.
She had paid a terrible price.
She had used some special method to stimulate her own Life Potential.
Her strength had increased with extreme speed, but her lifespan would be shortened, and she would also hit her Level cap much more easily.
It would be difficult for her to advance any further.
Lanya’s Life Force was already showing signs of depletion.
This meant that stimulating her Life Potential could no longer grant her rapid increases in strength.
Once her Life Potential was fully exhausted, her strength would decline at an incredible rate.
Countless times faster than the rate of decline for a normal Extraordinary Professional.
After seeing through to the true state of Susan, Lanya, and the others,
all that remained in his heart was pity.
He couldn’t be bothered to argue with these short-lived ghosts.
Li Wei lowered his right hand and said, "Fine. Ask what you want to ask, but I don’t have time to go back with you for some interrogation."
"Besides, you don’t have the authority to interrogate a Grand Mage from the Elemental Tower."
Hearing this, the group finally noticed the Grand Mage’s Magic Badge on Li Wei’s chest.
A look of astonishment crossed Susan’s face.
Lanya was shocked. She never would have thought that the genius Mage from back then had already become a Grand Mage.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she couldn’t help but stare at Li Wei for a few extra moments.
’Did he also use a Potential Activation Potion?’ she wondered.
’But aren’t Potential Activation Potions useless for Mages?’
Potential Activation Potions were mainly effective for Extraordinary Professions that relied on physical prowess.
They could drastically increase the rate at which a Professional’s physical attributes improved.
For Mages, who needed to accumulate Mana and Magic Knowledge,
the effects of a Potential Activation Potion were next to nothing.
When James heard Li Wei call himself a Grand Mage, he finally confirmed that the person before him was the same Grand Mage who had visited the Mage Association that morning.
The legendary genius Mage of Maple City, Li Wei.
A strange light flashed in James’s eyes. He couldn’t believe Li Wei had actually become a Grand Mage.
The last time he had met Li Wei,
Li Wei had apparently only been a Tier One Mage.
At that time, Li Wei’s official status was that of a Tier One Mage, but in reality, he had already become a Tier Two Mage.
Only Torresta knew about this.
Publicly, he was announced as a Tier One Mage.
Therefore, James had believed Li Wei was still just a Tier One Mage when he saw him.
How much time had passed since then? And yet, Li Wei had already cultivated from Tier One to Tier Four.
James couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. ’Comparisons are truly odious.’
He had been stuck at Tier Three for nearly ten years and still hadn’t found the opportunity to break through to Tier Four.
Whether he could ever break through to Tier Four and become a Grand Mage in this lifetime was an open question.
After learning Li Wei was a Grand Mage, Susan’s attitude immediately became much friendlier.
She was well aware of the kind of power a Grand Mage possessed.
If Li Wei were to get angry, he could probably wipe out their entire group by himself.
Seeing that Li Wei was unwilling to go back with them for questioning, Susan had no choice but to question him on the spot.
She said, "Before I begin my questions, could Your Excellency, Grand Mage Li Wei, please explain what you were doing just now?"
