“Suna, keep your distance from the Sanctuary. Don’t come any closer yet!”

Yang Yi glanced at the sea chart and confirmed that the Nightmare Star was less than a nautical mile away from the Sanctuary, so he sent the warning.

“What are you planning to do?”

“I’m going to try to get this ticking bomb out of here.”

“It’s that big, and it’s electrified. You—”

Yang Yi didn’t reply further. He moved immediately.

With the protection of the Penitent Armor, he could operate within the electrified area. He quickly climbed onto the Rat King’s head.

The enormous, shattered rat head had already been partially cooked by the electric current. A nauseating burnt stench hung in the air.

A tongue slipped out through the tear in the armor on Yang Yi’s abdomen and brushed across the Rat King’s face, instantly curling back with a chunk of meat.

“Delicious… tingling and crispy~”

A muffled voice came from Yang Yi’s abdomen. He knew the seal on the Gluttonous Maw had loosened, probably cut open by fragments from the railgun blast.

But there was no time to deal with that mouth that only cared about eating.

He swung his sword repeatedly, hacking and digging, until he cut the ten metre wide rat head free and kicked it down.

Without the head, the esophagus and internal cables were exposed, sparking with electricity.

“Let’s try it.”

Yang Yi stood where the Rat King’s head had been, crouched down, and placed his left hand against the enormous rat nest, attempting to activate Limb Restoration.

Honestly, Yang Yi didn’t know if it would work, since he was still wearing the Penitent Armour .

But a miracle happened.

The effect of the spell seemed far more powerful than he had imagined. Countless incomprehensible runes flowed along Yang Yi’s limbs and spread onto the rat nest, transforming into swarms of tiny spiders.

They immediately got to work, pulling out threadlike neural networks from the nest and connecting them to tiny barbs on the surface of Yang Yi’s armor. More and more threads formed, growing denser and denser.

Even the tongue of the Gluttonous Maw sticking out of his body was not spared. It was directly stitched to the rat nest.

“No, I want to eat~”

The tongue could no longer retract. The tiny spiders had sewn it firmly into the flesh of the nest.

In the end, except for his right hand which wasn’t touching the nest, Yang Yi’s left hand, both legs, and even the lower half of his body were wrapped in the flesh, replacing the original Rat King.

An overwhelming flood of fragmented information poured into Yang Yi’s consciousness. It seemed to be the lingering memories of the individuals that made up the rat nest.

Memories of ordinary settler rats.

Memories of rat thralls.

Memories of becoming part of a conjoined rat nest.

Even memories of former players.

[Your memory is contaminated. Your sanity is continuously decreasing.]

The torrent of information overwhelmed him. Yang Yi’s expression turned blank as his sanity dropped rapidly, soon reaching 1, where it stayed for more than ten seconds.

During that time, his consciousness was scattered by the massive flow of information. He nearly forgot who he was.

But at the crucial moment, a series of flashing private messages caught his attention.

“Yang Yi, what are you doing? Don’t do anything stupid!”

“Yang Yi… Right, my name is Yang Yi!”

He snapped awake immediately and regained his sense of self, then checked the time.

There were 213 seconds left before the generator exploded.

That should be enough.

He took out his flintlock pistol with his right hand and aimed at the ceiling above.

This was the central warehouse, composed of underwater levels four through eight, five levels in total, with a height of more than forty metres.

Above it, only four ceilings separated him from the upper level above the water.

Using Roaring Mode, he could punch through them, possibly even blasting straight through multiple floors.

Yang Yi had used Roaring Mode inside the Sanctuary before and understood its power. The projectile could push forward more than a hundred metres even under the pressure of a corridor. Piercing these metal ceilings would be no problem.

With the hole created, Yang Yi could drag the generator upwards from the bottom level to the surface, then throw it into the ocean to resolve the crisis.

In fact, he didn’t even need to throw it into the sea. Tossing it onto another floor would also solve the problem.

Bang!

The gun fired. Roaring Mode activated.

A massive projectile burst from the flintlock’s barrel, expanding as it shot upward. It slammed into the metal ceiling, tearing open a huge outward bulging hole.

But the projectile didn’t stop there. It continued upwards, smashing through several more layers before finally stopping at the ceiling of the fourth level above the water, leaving behind a massive bulge before disappearing.

“That should do it. Move!”

Yang Yi acted immediately while sending a prepared message to Suna.

“I’ve got a way. Don’t approach the Sanctuary, especially not the breach where I entered earlier. I’m going to throw the generator out.”

After sending the message, he moved at once.

He controlled the rat nest’s serpentine body, coiling it tightly before unleashing a powerful upward thrust, surging into the shattered ceiling.

The snake-like body of the rat nest was incredibly agile. Yang Yi controlled it with ease, just like his own body.

He could even manipulate it with fine precision, down to the fingers on a single arm.

This strange structure gave him mobility similar to a centipede, even more agile in fact. He had far more limbs than a centipede, arms and legs scattered all over his body, each one providing traction as he climbed upwards.

Meanwhile, out at sea.

Suna steered the Nightmare Star towards the Sanctuary.

Suddenly, a series of explosions erupted inside the Sanctuary. The top of the structure even began to bulge outwards. Suna could hear it clearly from hundreds of metres away.

“Did it explode?”

She froze for a moment, panic flashing across her face. She quickly checked Yang Yi’s status and saw that his vitality was still above seventy. Only then did she calm down and prepare to send him a message.

But Yang Yi’s message arrived first.

“That generator is huge, and it’s connected to a lot of cables and components. Can you even move it?”

She sent the message back, but Yang Yi didn’t reply at all.

Suna frowned and checked his status again. She discovered that his sanity had dropped to 1 point.

Her expression darkened.

She knew he must be doing something only a madman would attempt again, and his corruption level would probably rise even further.

After several seconds of silence, she turned the Nightmare Star towards the docks of Area C. At the same time, she began thinking about finding something to treat Yang Yi’s dangerously unstable mind.

About one hundred seconds passed.

Using his countless limbs, Yang Yi climbed up to the second level above the water.

At this height, he could simply wedge the rat nest in place and secure it. The explosion would then be contained between floors and would not reach the bottom level.

But there was still enough time, so Yang Yi wanted to try throwing the generator directly into the ocean. That would reduce the damage to the Sanctuary.

His current body was about fifty metres long, resembling a severed worm. From the tail, hung countless strands like curtains of cables, carrying various components and the runaway generator.

And that was after the Rat King’s body had been torn apart. Otherwise, it would have been even longer.

Yang Yi prepared to blast through the ceiling again. Fortunately, he was carrying plenty of weapons.

The rat nest’s limbs withdrew into its body and quickly rummaged through the mass of equipment, pulling out firearms.

Then they began firing upward.

All kinds of guns appeared, even grenade launchers.

Under the barrage of countless weapons, the already badly deformed ceiling shattered again. Yang Yi burst out through the top of the Sanctuary.

From Suna’s perspective:

She saw a thick, elongated monster burst out from the top of the Sanctuary.

Because of the lighting, she could only make out its general outline.
