Chapter 717: “Cruotis Prime’s Consciousness” II
[Zerstörende Apokalypse!]
Bewússtsein’s body erupted in a horrifying spectacle of destructive energy. Blood-red and black tendrils of energy surged out from his body, twisting violently like chains as they tore through the surrounding space, preventing any spatial escapes.
Spiralling arcs of Slaughter and Destruction law energies erupted from the fissures in his flesh, exploding outward in a dome of apocalyptic destruction.
The blast ripped through everything in proximity, the ground fracturing and disintegrating into dust as the wave expanded with hypersonic speed.
Evan barely had time to react to the warning from his Danger Sense skill. He summoned his shield instinctively, holding it squarely in front of his chest.
The shield absorbed the brunt of the attack aimed at his heart, but the rest of the destructive energy engulfed him. His outstretched arm, still thrust forward with his sword, took the full brunt of the blast. The flesh on his arm was obliterated, the bones underneath fracturing instantly as blood sprayed into the air.
His legs were caught by the shockwave, their flesh torn and burned, leaving deep gashes that exposed muscle and bone. A portion of the blast scraped his face, searing off part of the skin and leaving a grotesque wound.
Jamie obviously wasn’t spared either.
On contact, the destructive energy in the attack shattered his spatial intangibility, preventing him from being able to phase through it.
The destructive energy surged toward him, and as it made contact, it shattered his spatial intangibility in an instant.
It then tore into his suit, shredding the material which was durable enough to withstand strikes that would pulverize most, like paper.
The tendrils of slaughter law energy coiled around his left arm, nearly tearing it apart from shoulder to elbow. His flesh was stripped away, leaving behind only charred bone and a torrent of blood.
His right arm, mid-swing, was caught in the vortex of destruction. Every bone in the arm cracked audibly, shattering one by one, as the flesh and muscle were burned off completely, leaving behind a skeletal framework dripping with blood and seared remnants.
The flesh and muscle in his chest were burned away instantaneously, exposing his ribs. The blackened remnants of bone barely held together, with the destructive energy stopping just short of his heart.
Bewússtsein staggered, coughing blood as his body bore the price of the technique. What followed his series of coughs, was an annoyed tongue click.
’I was aiming for their hearts...’
His gaze turned to Jamie, who was visibly more injured, and his hand shot forward, intending to fire a focused blast of destruction energy at Jamie’s exposed chest, targeting his heart.
But before he could release the blast, Arthur’s sword slashed down, striking the top of Bewússtsein’s wrist and redirecting his palm toward the ground.
In that split second, time slowed to a standstill, and Arthur, who had flown in horizontally with his sword, propelled his left leg forward.
His kick collided with the side of Bewússtsein’s head, sending the man flying off into the distance.
Using his gravity manipulation, Arthur reversed the gravitational pull acting on Evan and Jamie, sending their bodies soaring upward.
Time then snapped back to normal, and the beam of destruction energy that Bewússtsein had fired slammed into the ground with an explosion, but Evan and Jamie had been lifted just in time to avoid the brunt of it.
Mid-air, Evan coughed out blood as he began to heal. The green flames of life ignited around him, lighting up his body like a human torch.
A blue ring of time energy appeared around his neck accelerating the ’time’ of his healing.
Unfurling his wings, Evan morphed into his full dragon form, immediately unleashing a full-powered breath attack of destructive frostfire and lightning toward Bewússtsein, who had been knocked back by Arthur’s kick.
As for Jamie, despite the catastrophic wounds he had sustained, his body began to regenerate within seconds.
His flesh stitched itself back together, the torn muscle and burnt skin swiftly regrowing as though they had never been damaged. His bones realigned, each shattered piece returning to its original state.
Even his charred clothing was replaced instantly by a fresh set, seamlessly morphing into place as if the battle’s toll had never occurred.
One might think Jamie’s choice to change attires in the middle of a fight was misplaced, but his suits were no ordinary garments. They were crafted from the threads of deity-level spider-type monsters, their inherent durability transforming them into a powerful form of armour.
With his body whole once again and his attire restored, Jamie unhesitatingly teleported directly to Bewússtsein, who had raised a shield to block Evan’s breath attack.
Azure light flashed as Jamie’s sword cut downwards, carving through space with lethal intent.
Bewússtsein’s eyes instantly darted toward Jamie, and he opened his mouth, spitting out a literal curse.
[Fluch der Seelenzerstörung!]
A dark wave of death energy surged, attempting to latch onto Jamie’s soul. But before it could take effect, Jamie vanished again, and the curse, unable to find its target, latched onto empty air and dissipated into nothingness.
In that split second, with Bewússtsein’s attention momentarily distracted by Jamie, Arthur slid in from below, landing a powerful kick that knocked Bewússtsein off his feet.
At the same time, Jamie reappeared above, his right fist crackling with azure flames and lightning as he drove it down toward Bewússtsein.
|Azure Flare Thunderstrike|
The strike collided with Bewússtsein, who managed to cross his arms at the last moment, attempting to block the blow. But the impact slammed him into the ground, creating a massive crater as shockwaves rippled outward, fissures spider-webbing across the earth.
Immediately after the strike, Jamie grabbed Bewússtsein’s arms and tried to throw him into the air. However, as he was about to let go, Bewússtsein caught Jamie’s arm, and death-law energy surged from his palm into Jamie’s hand.
In an instant, Jamie’s arm withered, vitality draining from it until it crumbled to dust.
Bewússtsein landed on his feet and stomped the ground, sending rocks shooting up to block Evan’s charge in his dragon form.
Evan morphed back to his human form and teleported behind Bewússtsein, delivering a swift kick to his back. At the same time, Arthur teleported in front of him, landing a kick to his face.
Bewússtsein twisted his body, catching both their kicks with his hands, and as he did with Jamie, death-law energy began flowing from his palms into their legs.
But the two boys had anticipated this move after seeing it happen to Jamie and were prepared.
Immediately, the gravity around Bewússtsein intensified by two hundred, causing him to drop to his knees.
In that same instant, Lostvayne shot downward from above of its own volition, piercing Bewússtsein’s hand and cutting off the flow of death-law energy that had been seeping into Arthur’s leg.
This also broke Bewússtsein’s grip, allowing Arthur to escape.
As for Evan, his legs were engulfed in his yellow flames of purification, and they burned away the death energy that had tried to enter his legs. Those flames surged up Bewússtsein’s arm, burning the death energy within, causing him pain as well.
Seizing the moment, Evan twisted his body, using the leg Bewússtsein still held as leverage and threw a kick with his free leg to Bewússtsein’s face.
A rose of flames blossomed upon Bewússtsein’s face, and Evan’s other leg was surrounded by golden lightning.
His leg collided with the rose, the shockwave reverberating as the impact of the skill mixture doubled the damage and sent Bewússtsein’s body lurching backwards.
With his leg freed, Evan raised it and performed a dropkick, activating his Collapse skill as he slammed it down onto Bewússtsein’s chest—still weighed down by Arthur’s enhanced gravity.
The force of the impact sent Bewússtsein’s back slamming into the ground, cracking some of his ribs.
But before Evan could follow-up, the ground around him cracked open, and grotesque, skinless arms coated in death energy erupted, reaching for both him and Arthur.
The two immediately teleported away, narrowly escaping their grasp.
But just as they reappeared, all the skinless arms were torn apart, shredded by Jamie, who had regenerated his arm and swung his sword to cleave through them. Reversing his grip on the sword, Jamie delivered a powerful slash downward that ripped through space.
In response, Bewússtsein conjured dozens of fleshy walls to block the attack, but Jamie’s slash cut through them with ease.
Left with no other option, Bewússtsein released a burst of destruction energy to ’destroy’ the gravity laws pressing him down and threw a fist coated in destruction energy toward Jamie’s slash.
The collision tore apart the space Jamie’s sword was cutting into, causing a spatial collapse.
Meanwhile, Life-Law energy seeped into Bewússtsein’s body, healing his wounds, though at a slightly slower pace than before—a subtle detail Arthur noticed.
’Just as I thought, his healing is slowing.’
At the same time, Bewússtsein was keenly watching them, particularly Jamie, who had fully regenerated his arm.
’His regeneration is troublesome. Even worse when combined with his spatial powers.
Even if he’s an ’Immortal,’ there’s no way he can regenerate infinitely. The typical approach to dealing with regenerators like him is to target vital organs—like the brain or heart.
I’ll start aiming for the heart.’
As those thoughts crossed his mind, Arthur, Jamie, and Evan charged toward him to unleash a combined attack. But before they could reach him, the ground beneath him suddenly caved in, and he fell through, the earth sealing back up immediately after.
Moments later, Bewússtsein erupted from a nearby pool of lava, his body rising with it, surrounded by swirling elemental laws: flames, lightning, ice, earth, wind, water, light, shadow, and death energy.
All of these elements spiralled around him as he unleashed them in torrential, pressurized torrents moving at hypersonic speeds, hurling them toward the three of them.
|Void.|
Jamie snapped his fingers with that command and the space before him distorted, twisting open into a blue-rimmed portal with an abyssal all-consuming void devoid of light or substance within it.
All of the pressurized torrents of energy were drawn towards with a gravitational force Bewússtsein could not fight against, and they disappeared into the endless darkness.
Arthur and Evan dashed in from the sides, their swords swinging through the air towards Bewússtsein.
Evan led with a wave of prismatic flames, engulfing the area in a surge of heat that melted Bewússtsein’s hastily created barriers. He followed it immediately with a trio of serpentine lightning dragons through the air, the electric arcs dancing and snapping towards their target’s head.
Bewússtsein twisted his body to dodge, with the prismatic flames searing his side. At the last second before the lightning dragons hit, he immediately conjured earthen barriers to neutralize them and redirect their lightning into the earth.
But Evan wasn’t finished. He swung his sword, suddenly unleashing a wave of ice that surged up like a mountain, reaching Bewússtsein up in the air and freezing his feet in an attempt to trap him.
Before the ice could fully reach him, Arthur closed in from the other side, his sword glowing with his signature silver aura.
But just as he released flames to melt Evan’s ice, and conjured an orb of destruction which he launched at Arthur, Arthur suddenly vanished, swapping places with Jamie who snapped his fingers once more.
