Chapter 576: Crossover Logs, Log 2: Jamie Westley
Crossover Log: Jamie.
Now then, where do I start?
What? I used that intro in the last log? It’s probably your imagination.
Moving on...
’Jamie Westley’, the Immortal Hybrid from another Universe.
I first encountered him through the rumours and legends that preceded him.
To the people of this Universe, he’s a ’Supreme Demon King’, one so powerful that he could even fight Race Emperors to a standstill, but given that he comes from a universe so far removed from this one, it’s hard to grasp the full scope of his influence.
Personally, I feel that the titles he has don’t do him justice. After all, he’s a Cosmic Being; a higher life form beyond the comprehension of most beings.
The ’Jamie’ in this universe is nought but a projection, an avatar-like body housing only a fraction of his power and consciousness. And yet, even that small piece is enough to make the strongest beings in this universe hesitate.
Jamie’s arrival in this universe wasn’t born out of necessity or desperation—it was whimsy. He came here because he was bored while sleeping; because he could.
Knowing that this Deity Realm avatar of his could come to a Universe far away and become one of its strongest beings, I can only imagine what the full scope of his power is like in his home universe.
THE Alpha Hybrid, Irregular, Leader of the Hybrids, ’Azure Void Paragon’, Myth of Estea, Envoy of Balance.
Titles like that only show just how much of a Legend the man is. He even has a title that calls him a ’Myth’.
His ’Envoy of Balance’ title did get my attention. I wonder if this Balance is the same Balance I’m after. The one who can end that future I saw in my dreams.
But anyway, we’re talking about Jamie here.
Jamie’s personality reflects his power. He’s nonchalant, with a devil-may-care attitude that makes him seem almost carefree. It’s not that he doesn’t care about what’s happening around him, but rather that he’s so far beyond it all that it doesn’t really matter to him.
That’s one thing I like about him. He doesn’t conform to the norm and doesn’t operate by the same rules as the majority.
Gozon, this universe—it’s just a playground to someone like him.
Hedonistic? Absolutely. But again, it feels like more of a conscious choice than a flaw. Jamie behaves like someone who’s experienced the entire universe and decided that the only thing worth doing is enjoying himself.
That might really be the case, given that I’ve heard him make some statements that insinuate he’s at least a billion years old.
He seems like the kind who despite enjoying the moment, is always looking for the next source of amusement.
His connections to the gods of this universe are also interesting, especially his relationships with Artemisia’s and Beatrix’s parents. Despite being a ’Demon King’, he’s on friendly terms with god Kings and Queens.
That alone tells me a lot about him. Most demons, even powerful ones, would avoid forming relationships with gods, let alone maintain friendships with them.
But Jamie doesn’t seem to care about those boundaries. He speaks about them like they’re old drinking buddies, completely ignoring the traditional animosities between demons and gods that are prevalent in like 90% of the Cosmos.
That’s Jamie in a nutshell—he doesn’t care about what’s "supposed" to happen. He does what he wants when he wants.
I guess we are kind of similar, even with the hedonistic side too.
My lifestyle is one where I live guided by my pleasure and displeasure. If it pleases me or amuses me, I go for it, if not, I try to get it out of my sight.
As for his relationships with others, I don’t think there’s much to be said.
He treats Alvey and McEnda III like children with potential and I heard he even taught them for a while. Conversely, they both treat him like they would any other Demon King—nothing special there.
When it comes to the McEnda II, the dynamic switches up. They seem like friends, perhaps even rivals. I expected a subtly hostile relationship given Jamie came out of nowhere and is dragging the position of Supreme Demon King that would’ve belonged to McEnda II alone, but I guess the man doesn’t care much.
He’s close with Beatrix and Artemisia, obviously because of their parents. They’re close enough that Beatrix even calls him ’Uncle Jay’—if that isn’t because of Beatrix’s default attitude.
Then with Evan, Jamie finds his situation amusing and is more interested in him because he’s a Singularity, than anything else.
Oh, did I mention about us being the P̷r̵o̵t̶a̸g̷o̷n̷i̸s̴t̶s̷? Yeah, you didn’t hear that from me.
Now then, onto the power aspect.
I’ve said this a lot, but the man is on a completely different scale. Even this version of him, with only a piece of his soul, is still ridiculously strong. As strong as my mother, at the very least.
Of course, I’m going to completely ignore the part where he’s immortal and can regenerate from virtually any physical and soul-based damage.
Did I talk about the part where he can erase people from existence? Well, now you know.
Then for weapons, I normally shouldn’t know anything about this since I’ve never seen him fight, but Celestia and Lostvayne gave me a little hint.
Jamie has a Rule Breaker, and according to Lostvayne, it’s a Single Digit one!
What are the chances?
Lostvayne says that the particular Rule Breaker Jamie has is one that doesn’t talk much, even to its wielders. Kinda the opposite of Lostvayne who talks so much Celestia gets tired of translating.
How does a sword even get tired?
Anyway, though it doesn’t talk much, it doesn’t change the weapon’s power.
Looking ahead, though he doesn’t seem to have a grand plan—at least not one that’s obvious, I’d like to believe Jamie has some sort of ultimate goal in this universe; besides having fun, that is.
The man would surely continue to be a wild card on this universe’s interstellar stage.
Although he’s here for his own reasons, his presence is intertwined with mine and Evan’s fates. After all, he’s also a key piece in the Nexus event coming up soon.
Knowing him, he’d surely invest himself fully into it, whether through calculated action or whimsical play.
It’s just a matter of seeing which version of him shows up when it really matters.
