Chapter 549: Ultimate Seeds and Skills

| You have acquired a Gravity Ultimate Seed. |

|Conditions for Transcendence (8/10) |

Arthur’s surprise increased even more with the second message that showed up. For whatever reason, there were Conditions for his Transcendence that even he didn’t know, and he’d met 8 of these conditions.

The question now, was what were the remaining two?

’But first, let’s deal with this Ultimate Seed matter. I recall seeing ’Ultimate Skills’ on Jamie’s status so it might be related.’

Turning his focus outward, he asked.

"Explanation, please."

"An Ultimate Seed is the first step toward acquiring an Ultimate Skill. Well, that much was obvious."

Jamie held up his both fingers and condensed spatial law energy atop them before he continued.

"When someone comprehends a law and gains an Authority, they can enforce their will over that law’s power. You already know that.

But in some situations, there’s a twist."

He moulded the masses of law energy atop his fingers into orbs that resembled Origin Cores, then spoke.

"But there are certain authorities that are UniqueEsoteric Authorities, stronger than the others."

Arthur also knew this. His mother was a holder of one of these Unique Authorities. So were his maternal Uncle, and his Grandfather.

Cattleya’s ’Authority of Destruction’ wasn’t just that. It had a slightly different name, born as a result of her ’Annihilation’.

Chaotic Destruction Authority.

When Arthur mentioned this, Jamie confirmed that what Cattleya had was indeed what the System of this Universe termed as ’Ultimate Skills’.

"The Devour Class System makes acquiring Ultimate Skills a lot easier.

To gain an Ultimate Skill, one must first create an Ultimate Seed, which you have done.

This seed has the potential to bloom into an Ultimate Skill, granting you a power that can only be opposed by another Ultimate Skill. In other words, gaining an Ultimate Seed does not guarantee you get the Skill.

There’s always a 1% chance of failure."

This whole Ultimate Seed talk was news to Arthur, but not to Evan. He knew a lot about Ultimate Skills; the person who sent him into the past even had one of those!

"Normally, someone with a Higher Ranked Authority can override the decree of someone with a Lower Authority.

An example would be if you, with a Basic Rank Authority were to stop time, someone with a Mid-Rank Authority in Time can override your command and there’s nothing you can do about it.

But with an Ultimate Skill, even your Basic Authority can make a decree that a Mid-Rank Authority holder cannot violate.

Even if they do succeed by some force of nature and plot armour, the energy cost would be astronomical as they would be going against the entire Universe itself."

The weight of Jamie’s words sunk in as Arthur envisioned the glowing seed within his Pseudo-Origin Core.

He’d never heard about this part of Unique Esoteric Authorities from his mother, probably because she didn’t see a point in telling him until he became a Deity.

’Being able to override a Higher Rank Authority? That’s crazy! It’s a contradiction to the laws of existence!

But these things are also supported by those same laws of existence...so the Cosmos allows a certain level of contradictions to exist or what?’

"And this is all because of the mutation?"

Arthur asked, still trying to grasp the fact that he had just gained something pretty powerful and Jamie nodded, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

"Yes. The Anti-Divinity didn’t just mutate your origin core; it created something entirely new. Maybe you’d get an ’Anti-Divine Gravity Authority’ or something."

"Haha, I’d definitely rename it if I get something like that."

Thinking about how he had renamed ’Gravitemporal Harmony’ from ’Celestial Gravitas’, he felt he should be able to do that for this as well.

"Damn, just having an Ultimate Seed boosts your damage by a fuck ton. I wish I had one too..."

Evan gave Arthur an Envious look when he said this, and hearing him, Jamie turned towards him with a confused gaze.

"The heck you talking about?"

"Huh?"

Arthur, observing the back-and-forth, could already see where this was headed. He sighed and leaned back

"He already has an Ultimate Seed, doesn’t he?"

"I DO?!"

Evan blurted out, his eyes widening with a mix of hope and disbelief. He leaned closer to Jamie, searching his face for confirmation.

And Jamie’s next words certainly didn’t let him down.

"I thought you already knew?"

"I most definitely did NOT!"

Evan was surprised and happy at the same time. He didn’t think he had an Ultimate Seed within himself and had been under the impression that he would have to gather three similar Unique Series Skills to create one—a daunting task, to say the least.

Jamie had once mentioned that gaining Ultimate Skills was somewhat streamlined by the Universe’s System. The method provided involved combining Unique Series Skills, which were rare abilities a few levels above normal Unique Skills. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Examples included Alvey’s ’Child of Light,’ Sigesi’s ’Child of Ice,’ and Jamie’s own ’Child of Space’—all part of the ’Child Series.’

Evan’s ’Harbinger of Ice’ was from the ’Harbinger Series’. Artemisia’s ’Queen of Evolution’ and ’Benevolent Lightning’ were from the ’Queen Series’ and ’Benevolent Series’ respectively.

Many other Series existed; ’Mystic Eye Series’, ’Breath Series’, ’Incarnation Series’, ’Blessing Series’, ’Herald Series’, and so on.

Each of these Series Skills held a fragment of an Ultimate Seed, and by combining three of them, there was a chance to birth an Ultimate Seed.

However, this was easier said than done, as the chances of success diminished with each skill from a different Series or Type.

For instance, if Alvey were to gain the ’Herald of Light’ and ’Harbinger of Light’ skills, his chances of birthing an Ultimate Seed would be 99% since all the skills were of the ’Light’ type. But if he obtained ’Harbinger of Fire’ instead, his chances would drop to 66% since it was not only from a different Series but also a different Type.

Evan had three Series Skills, his ’Mystic Eyes of ȳ̸̘r̷̤͑c̴͍̅i̸͖͂ḿ̵̼į̴͐m̷̨̕ ̴́͜’, ’Harbinger of Ice’ and ’Mesarthim: Prismatic Inferno.’

But they were all from different Series and Types, making the likelihood of successfully creating an Ultimate Seed slim, let alone awakening it into a Skill.

"You have flame abilities, right?"

"Yeah... Are you saying my ’Mesarthim’ has the Ultimate Seed in it???"

Evan asked, leaning in even closer and Jamie gently pushed him back to a comfortable distance before explaining how his Mesarthim Skill has hints of an Ultimate Seed within it.

From Jamie’s perspective, if Evan split his Mesarthim Skill into its components, he’d get 7 Unique Series Skills out of it.

That was how powerful each of the 7 colours of the Prismatic Inferno were.

But for some reason, it was as if when they were fused together, someone pressed the pause button when the Ultimate Seed was at 99.99% formation.

"So, you don’t need to search for an Ultimate Seed. You already have one, built-in."

"Built-in?"

Evan raised a brow in confusion at Jamie’s words, and the man nodded as he asked.

"Yeah. Weren’t you born with it?"

"..."

The Rogue Hero went silent. Jamie’s words just now meant that the man believed he was born with his skill. But as far as Evan knew, he only gained that skill a few years ago and it was caused by an external force.

When he explained this, Jamie shook his head and replied that he thought wrong.

"From what I can see, the Skill Rune on your soul... It’s as old as your soul itself."

That was why Jamie believed Evan had this skill since birth.

"Well, let’s leave your Ultimate Seed talk for now and focus on something more important."

"Something more important than an Ultimate Seed?"

Evan asked, intrigued by what Jamie could possibly consider more pressing, and in response to his question, Jamie leaned forward and spoke.

"What I want to focus on is how you were sent back in time. I’m curious, you see?"

The atmosphere in the room turned a bit more serious as Jamie continued speaking.

"You arrived on Aramis on March 31st, right?"

"Yeah. Alvey told you?"

Evan assumed Alvey had mentioned the date in his report to the Demon Kings, but Jamie’s next words revealed something unexpected.

"He did mention it. But I knew about you before he did."

Evan blinked in surprise. Alvey had made his report the same day Evan arrived, right after their interrogation. Yet Jamie claimed to have known about him even before Alvey.

"Let’s rephrase. I knew someone—or something—had been sent through spacetime. I just didn’t know where, and I didn’t have the time to investigate since I was busy."

"You sensed the Spatiotemporal Magic?"

Evan guessed, understanding this was the only way Jamie could have known. He was proved correct when Jamie nodded in affirmation before asking a question.

"What’s your main attribute? Elemental, Laws and the like."

"Fire and Destruction. Maybe Ice?"

The Rogue Hero placed his hand on his chin and thought about the third one for a bit before shaking his head and continuing.

"Fire and Destruction. My Ice is the result of a Skill I got."

Jamie nodded then turned to Arthur and asked about his, which were pretty obviously Time and Destruction. After this, Jamie pointed at himself and spoke.

"My main attribute is ’Space’.

The reason why people call me the ’Demon King of the Void’ and the reason I identify by that title are vastly different.

I call myself that because of my ability to manipulate the true ’Void’—Nothingness. Just like Arthur can."

Arthur raised his right hand, coating it with a silvery energy that made Evan’s Danger Sense scream in warning. It was then that the Rogue Hero fully grasped what Jamie meant.

Leaning back in his seat, Jamie retrieved a bottle of wine and some glasses from his subspace. As he poured himself a drink, he continued.

"But I’m also called that because my control over space trumps even the Main Entity of Space. When people think of the void, they imagine the ’Void of Space’—the emptiness outside the atmosphere. But Void and Spatial manipulation are distinct, though often confused.

My Spatial prowess is so advanced that people have woven it into the title they’ve given me. It’s almost as if the law of Space is sentient and completely in love with me."

Jamie said such a thing without blinking as he poured his wine to drink, before passing the bottle to Arthur who poured some for himself.

"Because of this, on March 31st, Rilene Xagna—the goddess of Space-Time—came to me. She wanted my advice on something we both detected: a massive Spatiotemporal disturbance that we sensed despite being on opposite ends of the galaxy.

After meeting with me, she traced the trail to find its source, but it vanished before she could pinpoint its exact origin."
