Chapter 522: godslayer vs Dragonslayer [Monthly Bonus 2]

Evan landed softly, his eyes immediately locking onto the source of the attack—A half-armoured young woman who swung an ice blade to behead the horse he was on a moment ago.

Her gaze met his and she charged at him and Evan activated his Draconic Transformation, causing horns to sprout from his head and illusory scales appearing on his neck and vitals.

Magic power coated his hands, and he raised them just in time to catch the woman’s blade. The force of her strike made his legs dig into the earth, creating a crater beneath his feet.

"Evan?!"

"I’m Fine! Focus on that guy!"

Evan responded to Arthur’s voice filled with concern as the young woman who attacked him wasn’t just any Dragonslayer, but a High-Breed.

But despite the woman’s blade cutting through the scales on his hands and digging into his flesh, Evan remained composed.

"I’d run my tests with this one. Why don’t you test out that new slash too?"

His eyes glowed with a gold light, and a surge of destruction law energy burst from his body, releasing a blast wave that knocked the female Dragonslayer away.

He glanced at his wounded hands, green flames enveloping them as he attempted to heal the cuts.

Arthur, hearing Evan’s words, laughed heartily as he turned his full focus back to the Dragonslayer he was clashing blades with.

"Talking with someone else despite there being a higher-level opponent before you. You’re an arrogant one, godslayer.

But I see why you might be. I heard you have the power to defeat Sovereigns despite being a Legendary. I wonder how much of that is an exaggeration?"

"Oh, so you want a fight? I’ll give you one then."

Arthur responded to the Dragonslayer’s sneer, his voice calm and confident as he infused his blade with his silver aura. He didn’t bother to correct the man’s misconception of his strength, the outdated intel of the Aramisians working to his advantage.

He charged at the Dragonslayer, their swords colliding in a clash of power that shook the air and crumbled the earth beneath their feet. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the battlefield, causing the ground to crack and shatter.

The force knocked back thousands of Gozonian soldiers within range, their formations scattering as the sheer power of the duel between the two Slayers overwhelmed them.

The Demon Army Generals commanded their soldiers to steer clear of the area where Arthur and the Dragonslayer were fighting to prevent them from dying as collateral damage.

All around them, the battle raged on. The ranged attacks of the Gozonians battered the Aramisian defences, but the Aramisians, fortified behind the East wall, retaliated with a relentless barrage of divinity-based attacks.

Beams of searing light, bolts of lightning, and shards of ice hurtled towards the Gozonian forces. Elemental storms brewed above, and torrents of water cascaded down, while powerful winds sought to scatter the Gozonian army.

The Demon mages responded with their own arsenal of ranged attacks, sending fireballs roaring through the air, colliding with barriers of light and dispersing in showers of sparks. Arrows enchanted with demonic energy arced towards the wall, detonating on impact in explosions of flame and frost.

Dark Dragons joined the fray, their roars echoing across the battlefield as they sprayed poison on flames on the Aramisians atop the walls, while some others clawed and battered at the barriers of the East Wall.

But despite the ferocity of their assault, the Gozonian attacks had a hard time penetrating the divinity-based barriers that shimmered across the East wall, absorbing and dissipating damage with ease.

This made the Aramisians grow confident of repelling the Demons’ siege, but it was then that a sudden, blinding light erupted from behind enemy lines.

A single sleek missile tore through the sky at sub-relativistic speed, faster than any spells or Anti-Air strikes could intercept it.

It pierced through the divinity barriers with a thunderous crack, the anti-divinity payload within it igniting on impact. A massive surge of energy erupted from the missile, a blinding explosion that rippled omnidirectionally across the walls, consuming the divinity barriers in an instant.

It was a special Anti-Divinity missile, a creation of Arthur and Alvey designed for the sake of dealing with Plomux High Command’s barriers.

The resulting explosion from the divinity barriers shattering ignited the magical barriers layered under them, and naturally, the walls themselves could not withstand the double explosions.

Stone and metal crumbled, with an entire section of the East Wall collapsing in a cloud of smoke and flames.

With the barriers down, the attacks from the Level 800 demons quickly demolished the other parts of the walls and the demon foot soldiers surged forward like a dark tidal wave.

Pouring in through the gaps, they clashed with the Aramisian defenders in a brutal melee, the sound of steel on steel and the cries of battle filling the air.

Though quickly stunned by the destruction of their defences and the deaths of all those on the walls where the attacks hit, the Aramisians quickly rallied.

Divinity-imbued swords and shields met the demonic horde with a fierce resolve, turning the battlefield into a chaotic whirl of combat.

However, the powerful Divinity of the Aramisians suddenly began flickering dangerously as a powerful force blanketed the battlefield, sapping the strength from the limbs of the Divines.

The moment this happened, the Aramisian Commanding Generals all turned in the direction where two beings were clashing with waves of power that affected the entire battlefield.

Arthur had activated his Progenitor Authority, and he wasn’t limiting the effects one bit

With his massive leap in strength, Arthur’s range had grown so much that he could engulf the entire Khever Region with its power!

Putting it in figures, that was approximately 1 million km²!

Alvey, McEnda and the other High Rank Demons bombarding the main gate could feel the effects of his Progenitor Abilities.

Spreading it out over such a wide area naturally diminished his effects, so Arthur limited its range to cover Plomux High Command alone, which was somewhere around 90,000-100,000 km² in area.

Since his strength was now closer to theirs than ever, Arthur was capable of reducing the Existence Realms of Transcendents by a complete stage.

Unlike before where the most he could do was take the Intermediate Stage Duskhand from Level 942 to 930—just 12 levels—right now he could reduce a Level 942 down to 909!

If his target was an Inferior Stage Transcendent, Arthur could actually bridge the massive gap between realms and drop them to somewhere a bit above Peak Sovereign, but still a bit far from Inferior Transcendent.

He’d bring them down to the limbo between the two Realms—the same limbo Arthur was currently in.

But although he had that kind of power, against his Level 850 Elder-Breed Dragonslayer opponent, Arthur was actually...on par with him?

[Master...what are you doing?]

Celestia’s exasperated voice rang out in Arthur’s head and the boy chuckled internally as he replied.

’I’m obviously playing around.’

[Thought so...]

The Sword’s response came right as Arthur swung it to meet the Dragonslayer’s longsword, sending sparks of law energy flying through the air.

Arthur dabbled in the law of swords, but his proficiency in it was abysmal. In a way, he could say that despite having 1% comprehension in the law, this Dragonslayer was actually better at using it than he was.

’What’s this guy’s name anyway?’

Asking himself this, Arthur used his Appraisal and discovered the answer to his question—Rael.

[Sounds like the name an Angel would have.]

’I know, right?’

Despite the light-hearted conversation he was having with her, Arthur was swinging Celestia at supersonic speeds, darting through the air faster than far too many eyes could see.

Rael’s longsword sliced through the air as he lunged forward, but Arthur parried his strike with a fluid and controlled movement, redirecting the force of Rael’s attack to the ground where it sent shockwaves through the battlefield.

Not giving up, the Dragonslayer pulled his blade back and released a descending strike aimed at Arthur’s shoulder, but the godslayer deflected the blade and thrust Celestial towards Rael’s midsection.

Twisting his body to evade the thrust by a hair’s breadth, Rael responded with a lightning-fast horizontal slash targeting Arthur’s flank.

However, in Arthur’s vision, Rael’s attack was moving at a glacial pace so he easily stepped back and intercepted it mid-swing, their swords clashing with an impact that resonated through Rael’s arms.

He thought the same was the case for Arthur, but the progenitor barely felt the impact. This was evident as while Rael needed a moment’s break, Arthur was easily able to transition into a diagonal slash aimed at the Dragonslayer’s chest.

Rael just barely managed to meet the attack with a perfectly timed strike, where he reversed the direction of his blade.

The duel between the two Slayers continued, each combatant displaying a profound understanding of swordsmanship.

Rael’s style was aggressive, his strikes powerful yet precise. Arthur, on the other hand, combined speed and finesse, however, the weight behind his strikes was nothing to scoff at.

With his superior speed, he was able to use feints to create holes in Rael’s defence which he explored with pinpoint accuracy.

Rale attempted a moulinet, spinning his sword in a circular motion to generate momentum for a powerful strike, but Arthur saw through the manoeuvre and closed the distance in a flash.

He stepped inside Rael’s guard and delivered a strike to the Dragonslayer’s chest with the pommel of his sword, forcing him to stagger back. Without missing a beat, Arthur followed up with a thrust aiming for Rael’s throat.

Rael recovered quickly, his eyes narrowing as he sidestepped the thrust and ducked low, sweeping his blade at Arthur’s legs, but Artur easily evaded the attack with a light jump and countered with a downward slash aimed at Rael’s head.

Luckily for Rael, he raised his sword just in time, the force of Arthur’s strike pushing him down but not breaking his guard

[Master, that was the perfect time to use Mountain Split!]

’Celestia, I’d kill the Level 800 Demon 100 metres behind him if I did that! I know collateral damage is unavoidable, but I’d like to at least avoid it if I can.

Besides, the one Aravae is waiting for hasn’t made a move yet.

The other High Ranked Demons have found their opponents but the Commanding General isn’t out yet.’

Arthur responded to Celestial as he cut through the air with the sword, meeting Rael’s blade in a series of rapid exchanges that left no room for error.

’This guy is skilled!’

Rael had this thought cross his mind as he faced Arthur. He heard that the boy was a summoner who ’occasionally’ did close combat, but this kind of skill wasn’t from someone who used close combat occasionally.

’He’s very experienced! Those guys gave me so much wrong intel.’
