Chapter 482: Breaking Limits
"Phew...that was close."
Evan glanced at his hand and saw the Illusory Imperial Scales on his forearm were broken, with blood spilling from the wound caused by the Aqua Breath.
"It’s not as much damage as I expected."
With such a statement, he activated his Paladin Skill’s Limited Healing to mend the injury, watching as the wound slowly began closing.
Turning his gaze to the charging sea serpents, Evan’s eyes glowed.
"It’s MY TURN now."
Opening his mouth, he began to condense energy into an orb. Within seconds, the energy coalesced into a beam of prismatic light, burning through the air.
Evan’s Dragon Breath shot forth, incinerating the weaker sea monsters in its path. They disintegrated into ashes, unable to withstand the sheer power of the prismatic flames.
As for the Sea Serpents, they tried to dodge, but Evan rotated his head, following them with his breath.
The first two serpents were consumed by the prismatic flames, their bodies burning away in an instant. The third serpent was split in twain by the beam, its halves falling into the water.
The last two attempted to submerge themselves, but the heat of Evan’s flames caused the surrounding water to evaporate rapidly. Even submerged, the esoteric flames burned through the water, albeit with barely half of its original power.
It was enough to reach the submerged Serpents and wound them, but not severely.
Finally, Evan halted the breath, exhaling a plume of smoke from his lips.
"Could only kill 3 of them, huh?"
Just as he said that, he sensed a surge of energy and looking up, he saw an ash-coloured almost liquid-like matter dripping down from the sky to form a barrier wall around them in the shape of a half-sphere.
’They’ve activated the concealment formation? Did they send an SOS already? Arthur destroyed that Gravity Well so it should not be distorting the Radio Signals anymore...’
"Oh well, I guess I can go all out now."
Evan slotted a few magic stones into the Forearm guard of his right hand, before summoning his sword and looking up at the hundreds of monsters charging towards him.
One of his multitude of skills was activated, tripling his stats as he spoke.
"Let’s start Breaking Limits."
◇ ◇ ◇
Backtracking a few minutes ago, to right after Evan kicked that unfortunate fishman’s head right off.
Arthur watched the Rogue Hero unleash his Glacial Annihilation technique with an impressed gaze.
’His power control is good.’
He scanned the water and saw that there was something ’large’ underwater which was headed right for their fleet, and it seemed to be on a direct collision course with Evan.
’It’s strong, but it’s not a Legendary so Evan can handle it.’
With that thought, he turned his gaze back to the waters in front of him, at the angry Leviathan who was now glaring at him.
’I’m a bit curious about how he got his Pseudo-Authority.’
Crarox rained spears of light down onto the ship, but Arthur snapped his fingers and used the power of gravity to bend the light as he questioned internally.
’Did a god bestow him one?’
The answer to Arthur’s internal question was a NO.
Referring back to Chapter 404 when Alvey killed Yedrist; an orb of faint blue light had emerged from the body of the deceased Leviathan and dashed off into the distance at literal light speed.
That ’orb of Light’ was Yedrist’s own Pseudo-Authority of Water, and the direction it went to was that of his son, Crarox.
As such, the Pseudo-Authority Arthur was facing right now was not ’bestowed’ but ’Inherited’. Hence the reason why this Leviathan had the titles of ’Inheritor’ and ’Legacy of Yedrist’.
The ginormous forked tail of the leviathan tore through the air at supersonic speed, bending space around it due to the immense gravitational law energy.
It tore a massive fissure in the ship’s deck as it blitzed towards Arthur, however, the Progenitor calmly held up his left hand and caught the forked tip with his bare hand.
His arm was coated in dense time law energy, so the powerful gravity that bent space had zero effect on him.
Just as Crarox was about to use another ability, the Leviathan’s instincts screamed ’danger’ and he quickly pulled back his tail.
When he saw the expression of light surprise that appeared on Arthur’s face right after, it knew it had made the right call.
"You’re sharp, I’d give you that."
Arthur remarked as he retracted the silvery energy of NULL from his palm back into his body, seamlessly switching to his gravitational law power.
Crarox, surprised to see Arthur wielding gravity as he did, barely had time to react. Arthur kicked off the ship’s deck and dashed into the air, reaching Crarox’s long neck with blinding speed.
"Gravitemporal Harmony: Weighed Impact."
Arthur’s fist, enhanced by gravity, seemed to carry an unimaginable weight. As it collided with the Leviathan’s neck, the force was so immense that the colossal creature was sent hurtling backwards through the air.
Crarox crashed into the ocean with a thunderous splash, sending massive waves surging in all directions.
With a snap of his fingers, Arthur halted the waves in time, freezing them before they could reach the Scout fleet. He then leapt back onto the deck and headed straight for a Fishman who was locked in combat with a Level 800 Demon.
The world seemed to glitch as Arthur moved, and the next moment, the Fishman’s neck soared into the air, spurting blood, the creature having been beheaded by an Extinction slash.
With blood still dripping from Celestia in Arthur’s hand, he calmly addressed the Demon.
|¬Inform Alvey that we have an opponent with a Pseudo Authority. It’s Yedrist’s son.
Tell him I’ll handle it, but he should have the High Ranks sent out to scout return to the Triton’s Ark and have the whole armada go full speed ahead and make landfall on Plomux now.
There’s a possibility that Crarox may have sided with the Aramisians, and they may know of our invasion, so we should move before they can gather their forces to resist.
Crarox might just be here to buy time for them to do just that.
Even if that’s not the case, I’ll use the Leviathan to start the commotion as planned. In my battle with him, we’ll wreck the naval bases to prevent the Aramisians from being able to respond properly.
Go do it NOW. ¬|
Despite being of a higher level, the lower half Rear Admiral was obliged to listen to Arthur due to his superior military rank. Additionally, everyone knew Arthur was part of Alvey’s inner circle, despite not being a demon or a Transcendent.
Without objection, the demon hurried to execute Arthur’s orders. Arthur then turned to another nearby demon and beheaded his opponent who was about to use an attack which would surely have sunk the ship before dishing out another order.
"Activate the concealment formation after I take Crarox out of range."
The demon nodded, complying with Arthur’s command unhesitatingly.
The progenitor barely had the time to compute another order before he sensed the incoming danger.
He turned around and saw as the giant head of the Leviathan surged from the water, and the creature lunged at him with his maw wide open, trying to snap him right up in his jaws.
Arthur, however, twisted his body to dodge, before spinning around and throwing a punch to the side of the head of the Leviathan who had bitten empty air.
However, his normal punch met with fierce resistance the closer it was to Crarox’s body, and he quickly understood that he was being pushed back by the Leviathan’s gravity barrier.
He could use his energy to break it, but ’too much time’ had already passed by the time he had this realisation so he quickly unfurled his wings and used them to give himself a boost into the air.
As he expected, Crarox ignored the ship and turned to Arthur, unleashing a breath of luminous energy which Arthur dealt with via Hades’ teachings.
The progenitor barely had time to issue another order before he sensed the imminent danger. Spinning around, he saw the giant head of the Leviathan surge from the water, jaws wide open, aiming to snap him up.
Arthur twisted his body, dodging the attack, and spun around to throw a punch at the side of the Leviathan’s head. However, as his fist approached Crarox’s body, he encountered fierce resistance, quickly realizing it was a gravity barrier surrounding the Leviathan’s body.
Understanding he couldn’t waste any more time, Arthur unfurled his wings and used them to boost himself into the air.
As expected, Crarox ignored the ship and focused on Arthur, unleashing a breath of luminous energy which Arthur dealt with via Hades’ teachings.
He infused his sword with gravity and extinction law energy, waiting for the right moment before swinging his sword at an inclined angle and parrying the beam.
[What the fuck?!]
Crarox who had been silent since the beginning couldn’t help but let out an exclamation of shock when he saw the absurd feat Arthur had performed, only to hear Arthur’s words.
"Damn, I was aiming for the Kraken. I missed."
A momentary glance in the direction Arthur had redirected the beam showed the half-disintegrated body of one of the Krakens which had been attacking the other ships.
However, Crarox quickly paid the price for taking his eyes off his opponent in a fight as Arthur blitzed in beside him and threw another Weighted Impact punch, nearly knocking the Leviathan’s head into the ocean.
’He’s sturdier than last time...’
Crarox roared and an array of magic circles formed around him, each one releasing a beam of luminous energy. This was a pointless attack, however, as Arthur could manipulate gravity, a force capable of bending even light.
As such, all the beams in the barrage were bent off course, ending up either in the sky, ocean or in the heads of Crarox’s sea monster subordinates.
"Hey, Leviathan."
After sending Crarox’s light attack off course, Arthur called out to him with a question.
"Why are you attacking us anyway? I thought you and your dad maintained Neutrality, and yet you’re attacking a Gozonian Naval force.
Does this mean you’ve sided with the Aramisians?"
Arthur’s sudden statement caused a vengeful light to flash in Crarox’s eyes as he roared out in rage.
[YOU FIENDS KILLED MY FATHER AND YOU DARE TO ACT OBLIVIOUS?!]
