Chapter 470: Chance to “Stretch your legs”

"You haven’t had a chance to ’stretch your legs’ since you got here, right?"

That single question was all Evan needed to figure out what Arthur was planning and he certainly wasn’t a fan of it.

"Dude, she’s an entire Existence Level above me!"

Margaux was a Level 714, and with the aid of her Vengeful Spirit, she could display power even higher than that.

Evan on the other hand, was just Level 576.

Inferior Epic vs Inferior Legendary.

The winner was clear before the fight even began!

"Don’t worry, you won’t die. I assure you."

"That does NOT assure me one bit!"

"I’m just curious about your fighting style. I also want to see that ’Blessing of Destruction’ skill of yours in action.

It sounds the same as something I’ve been working on recently."

Arthur ignored Margaux who was silently using rune magic under the ground, trying to bore an escape path as he continued speaking with Evan.

"Since you’ve got your own Blessing of Destruction, I’d give you a ’Blessing of Anti-Divinity’ instead. Very effective against Divine Humans like her."

The Progenitor bestowed his blessing on Evan, along with another silent buff that the Rogue Hero didn’t recognize.

However, he felt its effects clearly.

"Come on, if you were curious about how I fought, then there are less dangerous ways to find out! The kinds that don’t involve me risking my life!"

Evan had thought Arthur would handle the fighting if it came down to it, but he had underestimated the silver-haired boy’s unpredictability.

"You wouldn’t give it your all in a ’less dangerous’ situation so I decided against that."

Arthur clapped after he said that, disappearing and reappearing beside Margaux as he touched the ground and spoke.

"You know this barrier extends underground, right?"

The woman instantaneously leapt over 50 metres away from Arthur, her eyes narrowing as she saw the boy use Earth law energy to repair the ground she had made hollow.

The next thing he did was to warp himself outside the barrier and take a seat in the empty plains, increasing the barrier’s transparency as he watched both Evan and Margaux in the middle.

While Evan was shouting something at Arthur, Margaux looked at the Rogue Hero’s ’unprotected’ back and narrowed her eyes.

"If I can take this Level 500 boy hostage..."

The moment she muttered this, her eyes glowed with light and she roused her divinity. In an instant, she closed the distance between her and Evan, her palm glowing with the light of four Tier 3 pale blue Magic circles.

"?!"

Evan sensed the danger and turned around immediately, surprising Margaux with his reaction speed as he summoned a shield which he used to block her hand from touching him.

A surge of ice spread out from the point her palm made contact with his shield and seeing this, Evan raised a brow.

"Ice? Against me?"

A golden symbol glowed in Evan’s grey irises as the boy activated his Hero Unique Series skill for the first time since coming to the past.

Simultaneously, he released a surge of golden ice that nearly enveloped Margaux’s entire body in an instant.

The woman’s eyes widened as she jumped back to escape his range, her surprise increasing when she saw how everything within 100 metres of Evan had frozen solid.

’Was that the Ice Nova spell? A Nova Magic with no chant or magic circle?’

Marguax increased her evaluation of Evan, taking note of the golden glow in his eyes and attributing it to some skill of his.

Outside the barrier, Arthur smiled as he noticed the glow in Evan’s eyes as well. It looked like some sort of writing, so he employed the law of languages to translate it.

In a few seconds, he gained his answer.

’This...it’s the same language that I saw Artemisia writing in. An Aidosian shorthand language...

Its meaning is...Mimicry.’

With this, Arthur had figured out what the censored word in Evan’s Unique Skill tab was, as well as the full name of Evan’s first Unique Series Skill.

’Mystic Eye of Mimicry’

"I can sense the energy of a Universal law swirling within his eyes. That’s most likely the law of Mimicry itself. So that’s how he was able to replicate that teleportation circle so fast..."

While Arthur thought to himself, Evan unsummoned the shield he used to block Marguax’s sudden attack, taking a deep breath as he cursed.

"Fucking hell!

Too many things have not been going my way recently."

His right hand stretched out and a weapon appeared in his grasp. It was a Sword with a cylindrical hilt and a blade of pure black-gold energy.

Kinda like a Light Saber.

’No...there’s a metal blade inside that thing. The black-gold energy is only covering the metal blade.’

Arthur thought as he studied the weapon closely, activating Appraisal on it to see its details. The majority of the contents, such as the sword’s unique abilities were obscured from view, but he was able to at least see two important things.

’It’s called the Unforged Vale, and it’s actually a fusion of two swords into one.

Secondly, it was created by a ’Race Queen’.’

Race Queens were all Deity Realm existences, so Arthur wasn’t too bothered when he found he could not see the details about the Sword’s abilities.

He watched as Evan held the sword up and drew his left hand across the blade, muttering two words under his breath.

"Burn, Mesarthim."

The black gold blade swiftly lit up with bright multicoloured flames, shimmering like the lights of a prism. Seeing this, Margaux frowned. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Esoteric Flames? This just got even more troublesome."

She roused her divinity and drew in ambient law energy, and in response, Evan activated another skill.

"Blessing of Destruction: First Activation."

A burst of crimson gold aura surged from the boy’s body and both Arthur and Marguax were surprised to see his overall power increase by 300%!!

"Oh wow...this is even better than my Blessing of Destruction spell!"

Arthur exclaimed with an excited gleam in his eyes as he activated his Pseudo-Authority of Destruction and began deconstructing Evan’s skill right there and then.

Evan wanted to activate another skill, but there was no way Margaux was just going to stand there and watch him do this.

She charged at him at supersonic speed, wielding a spear that materialized in her hands and thrusting it directly at his head.

However, Evan suddenly vanished, leaving only empty space for her spear to pierce through.

’That was the Blink skill, wasn’t it? Then why didn’t I sense the activation!’

Those above Level 300 could sense skill activations, yet Margaux had not sensed the activation of Evan’s Blink Skill.

’Come to think of it, that Ice ability he used earlier was also a Skill but I didn’t sense when he activated it.’

That thought came to her in the same second that Evan reappeared behind her, his blade glowing with hot prismatic flame.

He spun his body counter-clockwise and unleashed a wide slash towards her unguarded back.

"Mesarthim; Red: Hell Unleashed."

***KAABOOOMMM!!!!

The air and earth trembled violently as the prismatic flames crashed into Margaux, engulfing her before she could turn around and igniting with the ferocity of a nuclear strike.

Seeing this, Arthur manipulated the barrier and expanded it, increasing its 100-metre radius to 500 metres in an instant.

Meanwhile, Evan glanced at the mushroom cloud of smoke and fire where Margaux lay, a single thought crossing his mind.

’This woman’s a Living Legend...Hell Unleashed alone is not enough to take her out.’

With that thought the boy’s magic power and his power increased even more. At this point, it’d be very easy to mistake him for an Intermediate Epic at Level 630.

Horns sprouted from his head and a pair of white-gold wings emerged from his back. Illusory scales appeared over his arms, joints, neck and chest, completing his dragon-mode transformation.

Opening his mouth, he unleashed the signature attack of Dragons.

’Dragon Breath!’

Faster than the speed of sound, a hyperbeam of prismatic flames poured out from his maw, tearing through the air as it headed for Margaux.

The woman jumped out of the way to evade, however, Evan turned his head and continued firing the breath like a laser beam, chasing after Margaux who was running at sonic speed.

’Shadow Bind. Hydra.’

Suddenly, her own shadow came alive and grabbed her legs, making her fall to the ground. Simultaneously, three giant serpentine dragons emerged from the ground behind Evan and charged towards her with their maws wide open, swirling breaths of flame, ice and lightning respectively.

They bit onto her fallen body and unleashed their breaths, holding her in place long enough for Evan’s laser-like Dragon Breath to reach her.

Divinity surged from her body as she tried to block the breath, but her hastily made shields crumbled under the power of the breath infused with the Blessing of Anti-Divinity.

"Kats!"

She screamed out that word and summoning law energy converged in front of her, creating a giant illusory tortoise that blocked Evan’s breath with its shell.

Evan cancelled the breath at that point, heaving a deep breath as magic power escaped his body in the form of steam.

He manipulated this expelled magic and used it to power up his next skill.

"Hammerfist."

A giant fist of crimson-golden aura materialised and punched down on the tortoise shell, breaking it to pieces in one hit.

"How d-? Destruction essence!"

Margaux instantly realised the reason why Evan’s attacks were so effective on her despite their difference in power—his Blessing of Destruction enabled him to use Destruction essence which had the effect of ignoring durability!

As such, her ’X1’ Durability stat did not matter much as Evan’s attacks ignored a huge percentage of it and directly depleted her vitality.

The Hammerfist struck down a second time, but Marguax raised her hand and caught it with her bare hands, infusing her reddish-brown aura into her arm as she squeezed down and shattered the construct.

Crimson-gold lame particles filled the air as Marguax leapt to her feet and charged at Evan, but the boy just pointed upwards with his left index and middle fingers.

’Vindiction’s Strike.’

A portal rimmed with crimson gold energy manifested beneath her feet and unleashed a beam of destruction aura that engulfed her body whole. It knocked her up into the air and following this were a dozen aura slashes released in an instant.

Margaux flipped around mid-air and swung her spear, blocking all the slashes, but she missed the golden chain that wrapped around her ankle and only noticed it when it was too late.

’Everlasting Chains.’

Evan dragged the chains with all his might, pulling Margaux down to the ground and slamming her body into the earth with so much force it bounced back up.
