Chapter 469: Margaux Bonnet

All those present had different reactions towards this, mainly finding it funny or being slightly intrigued.

"Oy! Wait for me!"

The other High-Rank Demon who wanted the crystal rushed forward to make his bet as well and amongst a few groups of demons, they placed smaller scale bets on this.

Watching them, Evan shook his head before returning his focus to the Magic power marks on the Demons.

’No movements yet.’

He sensed some enormous presences approaching, and he, along with everyone else, looked towards the doors.

Some moments later, the double doors swung open and the new group of Transcendents sauntered in, with some wildly flaring their auras as if trying to intimidate everyone present.

It worked on the Demons below Level 900, but the High Ranked Demons serving Alvey and McEnda shrugged off the pressure like it wasn’t even there.

As for those two, they calmly remained seated, their gazes fixed on the new entrants, scrutinizing them closely.

It was a group of over 50 Vampires, Demons, Dark Elves, Fallen Angels and even Dark Dragons—an unexpected bonus McEnda II sent along.

’Unexpected but welcome. Would have been nice to get some slayers too...’

McEnda III thought to himself as he saw that all the Dragons were at least Level 950, nodding in satisfaction at this.

Just like they were scrutinizing the newcomers, they were also being scrutinized. The newcomers cast their gazes around, and those with appraisal skills appraised everyone in sight.

There were some whom their appraisals didn’t work on, but they didn’t mind as they expected one or two people to have artifacts that blocked analysis skills and magic.

A lot of them noticed Arthur as well—kinda hard not to as he was the only Two Star General seated with Three Stars, and he was the only one who had his head down as he was busying himself with his game.

Arthur had only come here because he wanted to see if there was anyone amongst the newcomers who’d give him the same feeling Artemisia, Beatrix and Evan gave him.

However, so far there had been nothing.

The law of fate did not respond, and his Parallel Paths did not show any signs of change either.

’Guess I was too optimistic.’

The teenager sighed softly as he continued playing his game, his interest in the newcomers falling with each passing second.

It was then that one of the High Ranked Demons who had just entered and was scanning the Three Star Generals, noticed Arthur who was seated close to where Alvey and McEnda were.

"Huh? Why is that boy here?"

His expression turned dark and his lips curled down as he asked this, and before anyone could answer, he stepped forward and spoke with a loud voice.

"I’d heard this place meant to be filled with ’Elites’? So, can someone tell me why there’s an auraless child sitting here with two stars on his uniform?"

The man’s loud voice drew attention from all over the hall, and for a moment, the sounds of voices quieted down.

Some of the newcomers gave Arthur a second glance, before turning towards Alvey who was looking at this situation with furrowed brows.

The High-Rank Demon who spoke was answered with silence, both from the other High-Rank Demons and from Arthur who was more concerned about finishing the game he was playing.

It was one thing to be ignored by High-Rank Demons his age, but to think the child in front of him was ignoring him as well?

"Hey, you!"

Arthur continued ignoring him in favour of his game, and this made him livid as he walked up to the boy.

"I’m talking to yo-!!"

For a moment, a slight trace of hostility leaked from the man’s body. He had done this to forcefully grab Arthur’s attention, but the moment he did so—

"?!"

—the heavy gazes of more than half the High Ranked Demons present fell on him, nearly crushing him with the pressure.

’What the fuck?!’

The man was Transcendent himself, at Level 950 too. However, the gazes of over 100 other Transcendents had completely immobilized him, it was almost as if they were daring him to do anything to Arthur.

It was then that Arthur finally finished his game. He put his console back into his subspace before finally looking up at the man before him.

The three stars on his uniform caught Arthur’s gaze and the boy finally spoke.

"Lieutenant General...If you have a problem with my rank, then take it up with your Demon Kings.

Last I checked, they were the ones who gave it to me."

The Progenitor got to his feet, buttoning his cuffs as he continued.

|¬And I’m pretty sure they did it for a good reason. ¬|

As he said that, he simultaneously activated his two Pseudo-Authorities and let the energies of time and destruction surge across the room.

Arthur was internally grateful for this guy, as he had provided a chance for him to pull off what he wanted without alerting anyone.

In the moment Arthur activated his Pseudo-Authorities, the burst of energy he released was felt differently by all.

Normal Transcendents saw it as an energy burst.

The Transcendents with high law comprehension and those with Pseudo-Authorities felt something off for a fraction of a second. However, the time that feeling lasted was just too short, so by the time they could even try to understand what it was, it was already gone.

Only Superior Stages, who also had Pseudo-Authorities like Alvey and McEnda noticed that Arthur had scanned all the Transcendents in the Hall with his Pseudo-Authorities.

The thing is, they didn’t know which one he used to scan since he had released similar bursts of energy with each one.

They didn’t know which one was doing the scanning.

Arthur used this to scan everyone with his Pseudo-Authority of time one last time to confirm there was no anomaly, and no one who made his Parallel Paths respond.

At that moment, Evan’s eyes suddenly widened and he called out to Arthur.

"Arthur, we got a hit."

"Already?"

"Yeah. One just moved 20 km in an instant."

Hearing Evan’s reply, Arthur turned towards Alvey and McEnda who were seated not too far from him and spoke.

"The fish has caught the bait. I’m gonna go reel it in."

"Don’t kill it. We need to know how it got its hands on that platoon’s information."

"No problem."

Arthur nodded in affirmation as he wrapped his cosmic energy around Evan unbeknownst to the boy.

He then turned towards the other High-Rank Demon who had a bet with McEnda, pointed at him and spoke.

"Also, McEnda won the bet."

"Why’d you have to remind him?!"

All those who knew of the bet Arthur spoke about burst into laughter at the sight of this interaction, while McEnda silently opened his palm and gestured for the Demon to come pay up.

Arthur laughed along with them as he silently used Greater Teleportation and warped him and Evan out of the hall, to the surprise of the newcomers as they could barely tell when the boy’s magic started activating.

Seeing their reactions, the others laughed even more and spoke to them.

"Hahaha! Don’t worry, you’d get used to his antics."

◇ ◇ ◇

Arthur directly teleported Evan to the target location where they had planned to send whoever was caught in the Conditional Spell.

There was a Spatial Barrier created around the area, courtesy of Alvey, so unless Margaux had a Deity Realm artifact on her, there was no way she was going to be able to break out.

As such, when they arrived, they were met with the scene of a figure in black coveralls, surrounded by a white half-transparent wall, and an unconscious demon not too far from them.

Having been given control of the barrier by Alvey, Arthur easily warped him and Evan into the barrier and their sudden appearance drew the attention of the figure who was trying to use strange rune magic on the barrier.

"Margaux Bonnet."

"?!"

Arthur called out her name as he strutted towards her with his hands in his pocket. She realised she could not sense a lick of energy from Arthur, and that only made her wariness increase even more.

"You don’t know me, do you?"

Naturally, there was no way Margaux could know who Arthur was as the Aramisians did not have data on what he looked like.

He then dipped his hand into his subspace as he continued speaking.

"You’re about to."

Arthur’s hand emerged from the subspace with a featureless mask in its grasp, and the boy placed the mask on and turned off his aura concealment.

"?!"

’Silver hair, glowing odd-coloured eyes and that mask...he’s the ’Silver Summoner’!’

Though he could not see her expression, Arthur could almost feel Margaux’s surprise. As for Evan on the side, it finally made sense to him why Arthur could waltz into Aramisian territory without hiding his face.

’He uses a mask when with the Demons...’

Arthur took off the mask and tossed it back into his subspace before speaking.

"Now you know what I look like, how about you return the favour?"

Evan was about to say there was no way that she’d obediently take off her own mask when Arthur continued.

"Oh, that wasn’t a request, by the way."

The moment he said that, Evan blinked. When his eyes opened, Arthur didn’t appear to have moved from his location, but there was now a very familiar-looking gas mask in his hand.

Margaux, whose face had been revealed, took a moment to realise that the mask in Arthur’s hand was hers.

’How did-?!’

The woman’s face scrunched up into a frown and Arthur laughed lightly as he tossed the mask aside and spoke.

"Now then, you’re wanted for the Deaths of 20 Demons whom you and your son have murdered pretty gruesomely..."

Despite having revealed the secret about the Vengeful Spirit she used to take out those Demons, the woman didn’t show any surprise, perfectly controlling her expression.

She could sense that both Arthur and Evan weren’t demons, she could also sense that the only person who’d be a threat to her would be Arthur whose power she knew of well.

As she had a bit of spatial attunement, she could sense that Arthur was the master of this barrier and was the only one who could release it.

The boy proceeded to prove her right as he had Evan grab the unconscious demon she had targeted and warped him out of the barrier before bringing him back in.

"...I wonder what I should do with you?"

Arthur wasn’t going to kill her, but he didn’t exactly know what to do here. She wasn’t going to give up without a fight and Arthur wasn’t feeling like fighting now. He was also curious about that Vengeful Spirit Summoning of hers.

’Maybe I should use Core Absorption on her? No wait, I already have the law of summoning, so it doesn’t matter.’

Just as he thought that, he had an idea which made his eyes gleam!

"Hey, Evan."

"Huh?"

"You haven’t had a chance to ’stretch your legs’ since you got here, right?"
