Chapter 406: Off to Whitboro.

"You are correct. It is just one I favour, as such, I keep it up as my ’default’."

Arthur wasn’t surprised at the reply he received, having guessed this would be the case after seeing the man’s race and titles.

"By ’Mimic’...is it the kind I see in stories that look like treasure chests but when you get close, they spring up with arms and legs and try to devour you?"

"Indeed."

Jabberwocky confirmed Arthur’s words, before taking a glance at Alvey. Upon seeing that he was still going through the files, Jabberwocky took the opportunity to give Arthur a short note on how the demon breed with ’Mimic’ in their name came to be.

Basically, the very same Mimic monsters that usually appeared in dungeons, masquerading as treasure chests, reached a high existence realm and gained the ability to transform into humanoid form.

One of them went on to surpass Transcendence, climbing the ladder up to the High Tier Deity Realm, and after a little tryst with an Archdemon, the ’Mimic Demon’ breeds were born.

However, with more descendants, it soon turned out that the Demon race factors were just too strong and most of the time, they ended up suppressing that of the Mimic monsters, resulting in the children simply taking on the same breed as their Demon parent.

Nevertheless, the children were carriers of the gene which had become recessive, and occasionally, it manifested itself down the line.

Only when two Mimic Demons had children was the child guaranteed to be a Mimic Demon.

Due to these circumstances, Mimic Demons were quite rare.

As for the Name-Title ’Jabberwocky’, that was what was used to refer to the leader of Gozon’s Clan of Mimic Demons, who were very reclusive and elusive.

The fact that said leader was working for Alvey, meant that Alvey had the entire clan under him.

While Jabberwocky was speaking, Sigesi was wondering why Alvey revealed the fact that he had connections to the Mimic Demons, but the man revealed the answer right after.

"Going forward, I’m going to be using Jabberwocky a lot.

I let you know about him so you do not get confused when you hear about me being in Two Places at once.

Or if someone tells you I was spotted in a place you are sure I’m not supposed to be in."

After speaking, he then turned toward Jabberwocky and continued.

"Good work. Everything is perfect so far."

"Thank you.

May I ask how much General Thorneheart is aware of?"

"Only the basics. Go ahead and continue your work."

Jabberwocky bowed to Alvey, before packing up the files and leaving the room.

As soon as he left, McEnda looked towards Alvey with narrowed eyes.

’He’s sending a Mimic Demon who’s so good at his job that even I had a mistook him for the real thing to the Triton’s Ark? And there’s that ’Fake Aramisian’ title as well.’

It didn’t take the Archdemon a few seconds to figure out Alvey’s plan, and he turned towards Sigesi with a strange request.

"Can you create a helmet of ice for me?"

"...okay?"

She did as he said, though the look in her eyes clearly stated she had zero idea why he was asking for such. McEnda smiled and thanked her, before taking the helmet and placing it on Alvey’s head.

"...I’m going to give you a chance to explain yourself before I inevitably punch you back to Torten."

Clearly, Alvey didn’t seem to take kindly to McEnda’s joke, but it was soon quickly revealed that the Archdemon wasn’t playing around.

"You need to cool that head of yours, Alvey.

Concurrently moving different plans at once is going to bite you in the back. Reduce the things you’re focusing on."

McEnda got up from his seat and walked towards the door as he continued.

"You cannot be dealing with Gledea, whilst also summoning more demons, also working on sabotaging the Triton’s Ark in the Umhiz Ocean and doing whatever the hell it is you’re doing in the Chatane Ocean.

Cool your head and deal with one thing at a time, either that or delegate it.

You made a point about getting competent subordinates for yourself...put them to use."

Leaving those words of advice for his best friend, McEnda stepped out of the room with Sigesi trailing behind him, bowing in Alvey’s direction and turning the helmet of ice into water vapour.

Alvey was surprised that McEnda knew he was in Chatane, but after thinking about it, he realised that the other man had most likely seen him when he was placing the Concealment Buoys in the ocean.

As for Arthur, he silently went back to reading the newspaper, trying to figure out why his fate law energy was thrumming as he looked at the Serial Killer News.

◇ ◇ ◇

Arthur spent the week that followed quite leisurely. He spent some time comprehending the law of summoning, and thanks to the Third Magic, Arthur was already approaching the 5% despite it just being 2 weeks.

The boy casually did something that would make people go crazy.

His days were split between Law comprehension sessions, occasional spars with Sigesi and refining all his techniques that involved his Time and Destruction energies.

Arthur also took a day to strengthen his Bounded Field whilst working to create the true Bounded Field he had envisioned. One that contained the powers of Time and Destruction.

He was planning to go about this in 3 simple steps. First, he’d strengthen the ’Hall of Fractured Time’ to the peak, then he’d create a Destruction energy-based Bounded Field, and after, lastly, he’d merge the two together!

Eventually, Sigesi had to take her leave midway through the week as McEnda had to return to Torten in South Western Gledea.

This gave Arthur more time to comprehend the law of Summoning, and he was able to finally achieve that 5% milestone by the weekend.

And when emerged from his assigned room after this, Alvey was waiting outside.

"So? What’s the big news?"

Given that Alvey was waiting for him, Arthur guessed that it had to be something important and he was not far off the mark.

"It’s time for us to get to Whitboro."

"Whitboro?"

For a moment, Arthur was confused as to what Alvey was referring to. It was only after a few seconds that he remembered that they indeed had plans like that.

"Is this for that ’Triton Ark’ stuff you told me about?"

"Indeed."

The Triton’s Ark was the name borne by one of the Aramisians’ greatest magi technological creations. It was an artificial mega-floating island fortress that travelled across the Ocean to seek and destroy Demon Colonies.

The Threat Level of the Triton’s Ark was high enough that the Commander in Chief of the Demon’s Forces on Aramis assigned Two of the Four Star Generals to handle it.

Simply because the Triton’s Ark existed, the Demons had not been able to make landfall on the Continent of Zefesh that lay on the other end of the Umhiz Ocean.

When the Aramisians still had full control of Gledea, the Triton’s Ark occasionally docked at the Whitboro Wharf, and after the Demons took over with a land-based invasion, the Floating Island Fortress had not come close to the Southern Part of Gledea.

However, due to the need for maintenance, there were blueprints of some parts of the Triton’s Ark in Whitboro and the Demons got their hands on it when they took over the Wharf.

With this and Alvey’s secret planning, a strategy to take down the Floating Island Fortress was formed and Five Star General Orkorin sent Alvey to work with Sylvan and the Demon’s Navy to take it out or commandeer it—whichever was more feasible.

Since Arthur was now officially a part of the Demon Army, he was to follow Alvey in the plan to take out the Triton’s Ark and the boy was all for it.

"More fighting = More Kills = More Levels."

Arthur had zero objections to this so he just tossed his uniform into his subspace and followed Alvey so they could board their Airship.

There were dozens of Demons on the Airship along with them, manning the various departments on it, while more soldiers were going to travel via road to the Wharf.

According to Alvey, the airship they were on was carrying some large-scale teleportation gate parts or something.

Some certain parts would distort his subspace if they were to be put inside so he had to carry them physically, along with a few demonic energy missiles.

The Airship glided through the sky peacefully, with a serene atmosphere enveloping the vessel.

Suddenly, a deafening roar shattered the tranquillity, reverberating across the skies. Shockwaves rippled through the air, assaulting the airship’s envelope, and causing the entire structure to quiver violently.

Arthur who was half asleep was startled awake by this sudden noise, and he got to his feet and walked over to the front of the gondola to see what the disturbance was all about.

He arrived at the same time Alvey did and was met with the sight of a golden-scaled creature with massive wings beating rhythmically as it soared through the air.

Its piercing black eyes were fixed intently on the airship, its gaze unwavering as it locked onto the demons within the gondola.

"Great, now we have to deal with a goddamn wild flying lizard."
