Chapter 350: Reason for the War
"This one over here is Jack McEnda III. But nobody really calls him Jack, everyone calls him McEnda. Even his father, Demon King McEnda II.
From his uniform, you can see he’s a General like I am."
Turning to McEnda, he continued.
"And this is Arthur Vaughn, the son of a god and a devil who can use divinity; something I’m guessing you sensed on your way here, given how your speed suddenly increased."
"Sup."
Arthur gave a very casual greeting while Alvey turned towards the servants and had them bring in dessert.
"Can you give me a proper explanation on how ’this’ happened?"
"Do you want the long version or the short version?"
"Obviously the short version."
McEnda replied matter-of-factly, and in response, Alvey held up three fingers and gave spoke three lines, dropping one finger after each.
"I was summoning demons and I ended up summoning him.
We got attacked by a bunch of humans and flugels, and he assisted in dealing with them.
We realised we both hadn’t had lunch afterwards, so here we are, having lunch."
"..."
The other demon General silently raised his palm to his face and pressed his temples with his fingers, sighing softly before he spoke.
"Give me the long version, please."
"Thought so."
Alvey’s reply to his request made it blatantly obvious that he had abridged things a bit too much so McEnda would have no choice but to ask for the ’long version’, but the man held back the urge to smack his friend in the back of the head and listened to the proper explanation of how they arrived at the current scenario.
◇ ◇ ◇
Said proper explanation, didn’t take as long as one would expect, since in the end, Alvey ended up displaying a projection of everything that had happened with light magic.
When he saw Arthur using a Pseudo-Authority and casting a Bounded Field in the air, McEnda gave the boy a strange gaze, wondering what universe they pulled an anomaly like him out of.
As for the recipient of this strange gaze, he was currently learning how to use the Law of knowledge’s power to simulate the appraisal skill.
"So that’s how it works..."
Arthur muttered to himself as he tested it out on his teacher, Alvey, but due to the realm difference between the two, what he could see was greatly limited.

’A 46-year-old transcendent? That’s impressive.’
Given that Arthur had seen thousand-year-olds who still hadn’t broken through the realm of transcendence, Alvey achieving that in less than half a century was definitely a feat in itself.
Especially since he was a Demon, a race of beings with ridiculously long lifespans and tended to have slower time perceptions.
He tried the same thing on McEnda and the result he got was not much different from Alvey’s.

’Greater Demon, Arch Demon? I understand the ’Arch’ Breed, but I never really got why some demons were ’Greater’. The traits they exhibited were all exactly the same as ’High Demons’.
Arthur put all that at the back of his mind since it did not really matter, deciding to broach upon a more important issue.
"My information about this planet is at least 12,000 years old—very obviously outdated.
So, mind informing me how there are demons here now? Even more so as the indigenes of this planet don’t seem to like the lot of you."
Arthur and Alvey did not kill all of the attackers from earlier, meaning there was a very high chance that information about him had gotten back to whoever their higher-ups were.
So, since he had been involved in the war, whether he liked it or not, he wanted to at least know the reason for the war.
This was also so he’d know whether to side with the Demons or go to the other side, and given his ability to use divinity, he could pose as a divine human and get accepted in their ranks pretty quickly.
Alvey had also considered this possibility, and knowing how valuable divine factor bearers were to the people of Aramis, he understood more so than the boy, how much of a valuable asset he was.
Similarly, the boy was also valuable to the demons due to his ability to weaken beings with divine factors—something he had informed Alvey about earlier.
Long story short—Arthur was telling Alvey to give him a reason to stick with them.
"How we ended up here, huh?
For starters, the people of this world, the Aramisians, were the ones who had originally summoned demons from other worlds into theirs, using the demons as servants and disposable familiars.
They did this for hundreds of years until they eventually over-summoned demons and the amount in their world was enough for the demons to rebel with.
After rebelling and breaking free from their contractors, the Aramisians didn’t like that as to them, demons were equivalent to disposable slaves.
So, they set out to eradicate the demons since controlling them was now very difficult.
Outnumbered, the demons had little choice but to call for reinforcements. Using the same summoning magic circles that brought them into this world, they summoned more demons from their home worlds to join the war.
Some of the more powerful demons sacrificed themselves to cast myriad interstellar summoning, something that caught the attention of one of our world’s—Gozon’s Demon Kings, Olveth."
This was the first time Arthur had heard about the name of their world, Gozon, and when he cross-referenced with the information about Valmone he got from Lucifer, he found the planet’s basic info.
It was a Prime World like Aramis, one that was very close to evolving into something higher. However, according to Lucifer, that evolution was one doomed to fail.
Arthur didn’t know what happened when a world failed to evolve, but at the very least, he knew it wasn’t going to be destroyed.
After skimming the basic info of Gozon, he put his full focus back to Alvey’s narration.
"When Gozon came into the equation, things changed.
Our Demon Kings broke open a dimensional rift into this world and led our interstellar armies to conquer, kickstarting the war we are currently fighting.
This happened a few decades ago.
Other Demon worlds were involved in this, but as we are undisputedly the strongest in the Orithyia Galaxy, we were able to take charge of the invasion, leaving the other worlds to have no choice but to fight with/under us."
"And I’m guessing that you guys stand to get the most benefits."
"Of course, we do.
We would not be here if we didn’t."
McEnda replied as he finished his meal and began tackling the dessert, however, neither he nor Alvey spoke of what Gozon stood to get from this world’s invasion.
"What are this planet’s resources that catch your attention?
Rare metals? Special Wood? Or is it the human resources?"
"Those are nice and all but they’re all worthless compared to what we really want."
Arthur was about to ask what that was but McEnda continued talking, shooting down the question before the boy could ask it.
"Don’t bother asking. That’s information for the ears of Gozonian High Rank Demons and above, only."
