Chapter 338: Divine Spark Candy

"This is a ’little’ lesson for you four, for when you are faced with opponents who can use the powers of Universal Laws.

To show you that between two people who can ’Use the power of laws’, there’s still a difference in proficiency.

Take this god of darkness for example, he was good enough to deduce you four would be related to his doom, but that was all he could find out.

Someone who could use more of the Law’s power would have been able to discern much more, perhaps how you four may have caused his doom, even though they would not have discovered His Highness’ existence."

Number One coalesced an orb of Fate essence in his palm before continuing.

"Someone even more proficient would have been able to tell how to prevent you from causing his doom, which was to simply let you four be and not do anything, though he or she may not know the real reason for this."

"And if the person had comprehensions in the law, they would have been able to tell that by not antagonizing you in the first place, you four would have simply left the planet on your own and be none the wiser of the events that transpire after your departure.

They would have been able to discern that antagonizing you, would result in keeping you four here long enough for His Highness, the true threat, to get here."

Layla’s Maid added as she placed an extra-large serving of Chocolate Mousse and Vanilla Ice cream in front of the teenager devil.

"...Is it possible for Devils to get diabetes?"

Edward couldn’t help but blurt out that question upon seeing the ton of sugary stuff Layla was snacking down on.

Number One only smiled lightly upon seeing this, deciding to end his little lecture so Layla could enjoy her snacks in peace.

He took a minute more to basically tell them not to get ’arrogant’ when they finally become able to manipulate the powers of ambient law energies, something he had a feeling was going to happen, very, very soon.

After this, Layla’s Maid also prepared meals for the others and it quickly turned into a late lunch where they chatted and discussed a few things about their experiences so far.

"Just when we finally managed to get to the Epic Realm and thought we could catch up a bit, you went ahead and boosted your strengths to new heights."

"Hahaha. You guys really should not compare yourselves with me, you’re plenty fast as is.

Besides, don’t forget the ’Magic’ I used; I would have been a lot higher if I didn’t spend hundreds of hours comprehending laws instead."

Hearing Arthur’s reply to her words, Layla finally understood why Edward had previously stated she was sounding a lot like him during their initial meeting with Count Vako.

"See what I said?"

"I sure do, Ed."

When Arthur was about to question what they were talking about, Nicole who was beside him lightly tapped him on the shoulder and asked.

"Where were you these past few weeks? Did you get what you were looking for all this while?"

"Yep, Sure did. And more.

I can’t really say much considering a lot of what happened are secrets that should only be known by indigenes of the Hell Universe for now."

He momentarily glanced over at the Great Spirit on her shoulder while he spoke, before returning to her and continuing.

"But I did manage to get what I was after, and more.

Compared to you guys, the past few mont-weeks, were a lot less interesting though."

"You keep saying ’months’, what is that about?

"Well..."

At Nicole’s insistence, he informed them about how he discovered the Domain of Lucifer’s Vestige, leaving out the existence of the Vestige himself, and a few of the things that happened there, especially with the arrival of the rest of the Vaughn Family.

"You went through quite a lot on your end too. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if I were to see the kind of battles you were describing just now."

"There’s also the talk of the realms above the Monarch Realm too. Just the Monarch Realm is already so far away, something that’d take us thousands of years to achieve."

Arthur only shrugged in response to Layla and Edward’s words, silently pulling out the Divine Spark he had gotten earlier from the Malevolent god of Wood before questioning Esna.

"This adventure of yours should have netted you quite a few Divine Sparks, right?"

"Yeah, I g-PFFFTTT!!!! THE FUCK?!!"

Just when Esna was about to tell Arthur about how many divine sparks she had gotten, the boy casually did something that nearly made her spit out her food in shock.

Even the others present were no less shocked than she was.

The reason was quite simple.

Arthur had used magic to ’disinfect’ the divine spark in his hands before casually holding it up and taking a bite out of it.

Indeed.

The boy bit the divine spark like it was a piece of candy.

"What the fuck?!"

"Dude! Spit that out!"

Seeing their reactions, Arthur burst into laughter while redirecting the energy from the divine spark into strengthening his physical body, making it more powerful and sturdier than it already was.

"Worry not, there would not be any problems for me.

Don’t do though, Esna; you could die."

"No need to tell me that, no fucking way I’m ever putting anything like that in my mouth!"

"Huh? But it’s actually kinda sweet, tastes like chocolate."

"...Are you trying to convince me to do it, or to NOT do it."

"...Don’t do it."

Arthur replied before taking another bite out of the Divine Spark in his hands, leaving the other godslayer sighing in light exasperation.

As for Nicole, the girl was only silently leaning on Arthur’s shoulder while scrolling through something on her phone, knowing fully well that Arthur would not attempt to eat a Divine Spark if it was ever gonna have any negative effects on him, hence, she was not as surprised as the others were.

[Hmm? This aura...A giant?]

Undine who was on her shoulder suddenly turned her gaze to the side and spoke, her words catching Arthur’s attention as the boy was certainly expecting someone with a giant’s bloodline to be here.

"Seems like Lewis has arrived."

He got up and turned his gaze towards the side, a mere moment before two bright red streaks of light shot across the skies and straight towards their position.

The Benevolent gods nearby were shocked and thought it was an attack, but even though they could see the light, it was far too fast for them to do a thing about it.

The streaks of light eventually crashed down on the ground a few metres away from Arthur, kicking up a little cloud of smoke which was blown away by the wind, revealing the appearance of two men down on one knee.

One of them was a familiar brown-haired and red-eyed devil dressed in a black-themed knight uniform, and beside him was one of his cousins.

"Sup, Lewis. You arrived faster than I expected."

"We were already within the Realm, so It was easier for us to come over after hearing your message."

"Oh, I see. By the way, you can stand up already."

After getting them to his feet, Lewis looked at Arthur and had his eyes widen in slight surprise as the Mid-Tier Deity noticed that the boy had attained a Pseudo Authority in Time with a glance.

"It should not be this easy to discern that someone else has an Authority, right?"
