Chapter 326: Scaredy Malevolents

Three airborne creatures swooped down towards her but she only raised the gun in her hand and fired once, releasing a single bullet that exploded upon collision with one of them, with the blast taking out the other two on its sides.

Taking a glance to the side, she saw there were monsters trying to flank her from the side. She ducked to avoid their claws and spun around in a circle, slicing the legs of the monsters and forcing them to fall over.

She then disappeared before their massive frames could collapse onto her, appearing mid-air and firing another bullet towards them.

**BOOMM!!

Her wings unfurled and spread out, giving her air coverage as she boosted forward, beelining straight towards one of the Epic Realm half-gods.

But to her surprise, the moment her target saw her, he turned tail and ran to another part of the battlefield.

This happened three more times and at this point, Layla wasn’t foolish to realise that they were scared of her.

According to the original plan of the Malevolent camp, they had decided that Layla and Nicole, the two who they had sensed to be the most powerful of the Alien Demigods were to be faced by the Main Malevolent gods themselves, however, said gods were currently occupied by the other Benevolent gods as such, they could not face Layla in battle like planned.

"It’d be annoying if they keep running."

With that thought Layla roused her ether and began charging up a spell, her casting time reduced to near zero as she circulated the energy through her wings.

A massive black-coloured spell circle array consisting of more than a dozen tier 3 spells circles spread out above the capital city, radiating outwards from her position.

"Dark Magic: Eclipse Annihilation."

Layla muttered the activation words, with each circle unleashing concentrated beams of darkness that descended upon the battlefield at incredible speed.

The destructive power of the dark ether obliterated the target behemoths, leaving nothing but scattered remnants in their wake.

Also targeted by the dark beam emissions, were the demigods who fled from her earlier, colliding with their bodies and sending them crashing down onto the ground while dealing multiple instances of debilitating darkness energy damage.

Even so, this amount of damage was not enough to kill Epic Realm Existences.

"Seems like even my strongest Tier 3 Spell can’t kill Epic Realms easily."

Undeterred by this discovery, Layla turned her gaze in the direction of one of said Epics, activating blink as her body was wreathed in a spatial light.

She reappeared above the demigoddess who was staggering to her feet, and pointed the mini railgun at her forehead.

"Wa-!"

**BOOMM!!

Her attempts to plead for her life were cut short as Layla pulled the trigger without hesitation, firing a point-blank range shot that blasted her skull to bits.

By the time her corpse had dropped to the floor, Layla had already teleported away to another demigod’s location, releasing a powerful dark slash loaded with a dense aura that carved the ground on its way to him.

The attack impacted his body and knocked him back to the ground, but it failed to deliver the fatal blow.

However, Layla immediately followed it up with a single shot from the railgun, the resultant gaping hole in his chest sealing his fate in an instant.

Right after this, Layla rose a brow with light surprise, before jumping back a few metres, in time to avoid the body of another demigod that came crashing down from the skies, causing a cloud of dust and smoke to billow towards the skies.

She generated a gust of wind to clear it up and looked towards the sky, seeing the person responsible for sending the demigod crashing down waving at her lightly.

Layla casually walked back up to the demigod, swinging her sword to knock his weapon out of his hand before stabbing the blade into the chest of the poor fellow.

With a smile on her face, she waved back to Nicole while brandishing the gun towards his head and firing another shot.

***BOOOMM!!!!

Looking at the girl who casually needed an inferior stage’s life with a single hit while having a smile on her face, Undine chuckled lightly before turning her gaze in the direction of Layla’s gun and running a small analysis.

[I see. Each bullet in that gun has a small amount of universal law energy stored within it. I can sense the laws of Metal and Lightning at first glance, but there’s also tinges of Fundamental Forces within them.

Who the heck made that thing...?]

The Great Spirit was genuinely shocked at this fusion of universal law essences, especially that of the Fundamental Forces as this law was one that was a direct derivative of a Concept.

And laws that were direct derivatives of concepts were very...very difficult to fuse, yet the creator of this weapon was able to combine all multiple together with ease.

(A/N: Direct Derivative Laws include, Laws like Space, Time, Creation, Destruction, Weak Nuclear Force, Strong Nuclear Force, and major stuff like that.)

Just when she was about to send a message to Layla to ask her if she could study the gun later, a loud explosion rang out at the eastern part of the Capital city, radiating outward and devastating everything within miles of its position.

Narrowing her eyes lightly, Undine held out her palm over her mouth and spoke.

[The one called the Benevolent god of Shadows just died, and in a quite brutal way too.]

Her words prompted Nicole, along with many others on the battlefield to turn in the direction of the explosion.

The lifeless form of the Benevolent god of Shadows lay sprawled on the ground, bathed in an eerie aura that seemed to echo his former power. His once regal figure now bore the marks of a savage struggle, with deep gashes and oozing wounds marring his corpse.

Blood-stained thorns of twisted wood pierced his chest and protruded from his gaping mouth, while his left arm hung broken and torn, as if it had been ripped apart by the jaws of a beast of some sort.

Not too far from him, was the Benevolent god of wind, down on one knee, his features marred by the golden stains of his blood.

Luckily for him, the Malevolent god of wood wasn’t in a much better state either, with deep gashes marring his form and his right eyes rendered sightless.

The residual wind elemental energy in the slash that crossed half his face showed who was responsible for depriving him of half his sight.

Shadow seeped from his other wounds, filled with divinity that prevented his regenerative factors from working properly.

Seeing that he was at a disadvantage and in no state for further combat, he chose to retreat, fleeing with a desperate swiftness that the Benevolent god of wind could not catch up to in his wounded state.

Realizing the futility of giving chase, the wind god relinquished his pursuit, turning his attention to the task of healing his injuries instead.

But while the wind god let him escape, a certain teenage devil had intentions on the opposite end of the spectrum.

She rose her bullet lance high, pointing it in his direction and unleashing a torrential beam of pressurized water that crashed onto the fleeing god’s back.

**BOOMM!!

The impact caused a tremendous explosion of water, and steam for some reason, obscuring the true outcome of the attack.

As the steam dissipated, the wreckage was revealed, with the notable absence of a wood god’s corpse, leaving his vital status uncertain.

Nicole looked in that direction for a few moments, the ambient spirits around her lashing out at the shadow harrier that tried to attack her stationary form in mid-air.

She then turned around and waved her hand, releasing a wave of energy that slapped the creature to death before moving to aid Esna who was now combatting the Malevolent god of Metal along with the aid of Edward and the Benevolent god of Space.

The Benevolent god of Lightning returned to fighting against his Malevolent counterpart, tag-teaming with his Earthen brother to pressure the latter greatly.

As for the malevolent god of Wind who was fighting the Benevolent Earth, he was now stuck in battle against five Benevolent demigods who were beating the shit outta him.

Multiple explosions rang out in quick succession, buildings of the grand capital city being blasted to pieces, cries of pain, joy and agony ringing out simultaneously from various points across the battlefield.

Clouds of smoke and flames billowed to the skies, with lightning flashing across the heavens.

The voices of the soldiers of the allied armies rang out, with them shouting their various battle cries and chants to psych themselves up.

Layla and the rest made sure to keep announcing the deaths of any Malevolent gods or demigods, an effective tactic in keeping morale high despite the heavy casualties.

The Malevolent god of Wind also perished, leaving only the gods of Metal, Shadows and Lightning on the battlefield.

As for how the god of Metal managed to survive this long, it was simply because he had broken through to the Inferior Stage of the Legendary Realm mid-battle, and his nonstandard nature gave him power that eclipsed that of ordinary inferior Stages.

Nevertheless, against the combination of Edward, Esna, and the Benevolent gods of Space and Fire, he was being suppressed easily.

The fact that he even managed to last long against them was a testament to how powerful he was.
