October 8th

Year 717 of the 50th General Calendar.

The aftermath of Layla and the other three’s battle against the Malevolent god of flame, Gilbalar, had wrecked everything in sight for kilometres, leaving giant clouds of smoke and flames rising into the air.

As for the rest of the Malevolent god’s monster army, part of it had been routed by the combination of Vako’s Knights, their Count, Ady and the other top adventurers who stayed back.

However, most of the work was done by the person who arrived when they were almost annihilated by the thousands of monsters.

Someone whose mere presence triggered Esna’s racial abilities for the second time today.

From the way Sakaala was looking at him with stars in her eyes, they were able to instantly figure out who he was.

Looking at Layla stepping on Gilbalar’s corpse, his eyes widened in shock as he more than anyone else knew the true strength of the Malevolent god of flames.

But he quickly snapped out of his shock a few seconds later as he saw Layla suddenly unsheathe her sword and pull out a strange weapon, before pointing both of them at him.

A dense amount of black aura encased the blade and he sensed magic power coalescing in the nuzzle of that strange weapon, enough to make him instantly go on guard.

"No one told me there were TWO Malevolent gods of flames."

Her words snapped Sakaala out of her daze as she hurriedly ran in front of Layla while waving her hands and screaming out.

"NO! He’s not a Malevolent god!!"

"Oh, so he’s the Benevolent one then."

The girl threw a glance at Esna who nodded and spoke.

"Same thing. Genuine god race member."

The man’s gaze went from Sakaala to Layla and then to Esna, his eyes narrowing as he instinctively sensed the most ’danger’ from Esna despite the fact that she was the weakest of the group.

’And my overall power has been reduced ever since she got here...’

Layla sheathed her sword with a shrug, tossing her gun back into her interspatial ring before stretching lightly and saying.

"Now then, Mr Benevolent god of flames. Let’s talk."

Hearing her words, the god looked at the four teenagers in front of him with wary eyes as he could sense they were all existences in the same realm as he was.

’So young!’

More importantly, there was the fact that the residual energy he could sense from the wounds on Gilbalar’s corpse was similar to the energy he sensed from Layla just now, and turning his gaze around, he saw dozens of elementals, mostly water-attributed ones, glaring at him.

’This quiet-looking girl...the Elementals are all crowding her. Even that cat in her hands is a grandmaster elemental.’

He then turned towards Edward and sensed a weaker version of the aura possessed by his fellow god of the lightning element.

Looking at Gilbalar’s corpse once more, he saw the hole in his torso and his head, along with the way his chest had been carved open, his expression turned strange upon thinking that had been done by mere teenagers.

’Teenagers or not, they are strong enough to kill Gilbalar. And I am not confident in beating him.

Especially because of this red-eyed girl who makes me unable to use my full strength just by being near her. Her mere presence unsettles me the most.’

All these thoughts only took him a few seconds with the fast thought speed of a Superior Stage Epic realm existence, heaving a sigh as he opened his mouth and spoke.

"Okay...let’s talk."

"Good to know you’re someone capable of dialogue, Mr Benevolent god of Flames."

"Actually, I have a name. It’s-"

"Mr Benevolent god of flames."

Layla cut him off once more, addressing him by his title while having a smile on her face. Before he could say anything again, Edward suddenly blitzed beside him and swung his hand over the man’s shoulder before saying.

"Give it up bro.

You’re just a side character who’s only going to appear in this arc so the Author doesn’t want to bother giving you a nam-OW!!"

A bolt of red magic power flicked from Esna’s fingers smacked the boy’s head before he could finish speaking, with the godslayer girl proceeding to drag him away and smack his head once more.

"Ignore his foolishness."

The flame god could not care less about her and Edward’s little banter, instead, he was more focused on the fact that her mere presence was causing his existence realm to drop by more than half a stage.

"Can you kindly stop whatever it is you’re doing?"

"Can you kindly stop breathing?"

The man frowned upon hearing the question Esna asked him back, but the red-eyed girl simply continued speaking.

"Do you now understand how your request sounds to me?"

Leaving that line, she went on to join Nicole in healing the wounded combatants, while Layla discussed some things with the knight captain, Ady and the Count.

Those who had deserted upon the appearance of the Flame god Gilbalar were to be captured, but they were at a loss on how to deal with them.

The Count and the other higher-ups could understand their desire to flee, considering they were faced with one of the Malevolent gods of Gade, the Villains in the World’s myths.

Even so, it did not change the fact that most of them which were knights and soldiers, deserted their posts in the line of duty and as such, they had to be punished.

Layla left that whole matter for the people of Gade to deal with at a later time, before calling all the higher-ups and her companions to come over for a much-needed discussion.

As for the location, it was naturally the Count’s residence where they had been talking before Gilbalar’s attack interrupted them.

"First things first. Introductions."

Layla took charge of the meeting, starting with proper introductions, from where she learned the Benevolent Flame god was called Ayaan.

When she introduced Undine who was seated on Nicole’s shoulder, the man’s eyes widened in shock as he was able to instinctively tell that the spirit was by far the strongest entity in the room.

"Now then, our intentions.

The four of us, having been randomly targeted by the leader of the Malevolent gods, whoever that is, have decided that we are going to take him out before we leave this world and return to where we were meant to go.

Hopefully, we can find our remaining companion by then."

"Remaining companion?"

"Yeah. Our group was originally a group of five but things happened and we got split up from the last person."

Hearing that there was another one of these Epic Level teenagers, whom from Sakaala, he found that they were grandmasters just a few hours ago, Ayaan developed a genuine curiosity about the fifth of their group and the world they came from.

"Was he also a grandmaster like you?"

"He was. And is most likely also an Epic Realm by now.

Side note, he’s the most ridiculous among us five."

"Yeah, and if you feel suffocated just by being near me, then you might as well be half-dead near him, because we are of the same race, and his racial abilities are leagues more powerful than mine."

Ayaan’s brow twitched repeatedly upon hearing Esna’s words and just before he could reply, Layla beat him to it.

"Alright, enough about Arthur.

Let’s deal with the current situation here; Which is planning how we’re gonna defeat the Malevolent god of Darkness and his army of thousand-year-old monsters."

".... Defeat him? Even if he has not revived fully, he’s still a Legendary Realm Existence. The peak of this world."

"We’ve already guessed that much.

What I want to know is how many Benevolent gods are around?"

Ayaan frowned lightly in response to Layla’s question, his gaze moving around to the denizens of Gade in the room as a reluctant expression appeared on his face.

"Is there a problem of some sort? Just say how many of you are around."

"Aren’t they ten?"

"That’s their total number. What I want to know is how many of them we can get to help us in dealing with the malevolent gods,

Basically how many of them are in fighting condition.

And from his reluctance to answer me immediately, I can tell it’s’ definitely NOT ten."

Seeing as he had already been seen through by the teenage devil, Ayaan heaved a deep sigh and finally spoke.

"You’re right. We are not ten anymore.

The Benevolent god of Water...is dead."

His words sent ripples of shock through the minds and bodies of all the people of Gade in the room, while one of them who was a particularly devout believer felt his whole world crumbling upon this realization.

"Who was responsible?"

"Gilbalar. He was taking revenge as it was both I and the god of water who vanquished him a thousand years ago."

"That’s one less Epic Realm existence on our side."

Layla’s voice lacked any form of concern for the dead god of water, after all, it was just another Epic Realm existence to her.

"...that’s your reaction?"
