Chapter 302: Eight left.... Not for long though
Check out my entry for the WPC August: Beyond the Bloodline.🔥
♧♧♧
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept across the area with the ferocity of a storm, blowing away the smoke and residual flames while rapidly cooling the molten earth.
The demigods surrounded Arthur, their figures only having a few light wounds save the one who had his arm ’deleted’.
The Superior Epics who survived had grave expressions on their faces as they had to sacrifice their trusted defensive artifacts to do so.
On a side note, the Intermediate Epics also did this, but they were either not fast enough or were too close to the centre of the explosion.
"You guys are still alive and kicking as expected."
They all remained silent despite Arthur’s words, but they were all silently shocked at the way his injured flesh squirmed about before his body forcefully expelled the foreign energies impeding his regeneration and healed in seconds.
The massive burn wound, along with the cuts and gashes all over from the rocks and earthen splinters sent flying around healed before their very eyes.
’I planned to get to Layla and Nicole today, so I’m going to have to end this quickly.
My destruction comprehension has increased and I’m one step closer to a Pseudo Authority in Destruction.
As for Time, I feel like I’m infinitely close to surpassing one large milestone. My comprehension of the law stopped increasing after the first day of my comprehension session and didn’t budge even though I had burned through all of my energy once.’
Just as he was getting lost in his thoughts, the Legendries suddenly shot forward, crossing the distance between him and them in less than a second.
They threw out attacks at lightning-fast speed, intending on catching him as they noticed his light absent-mindedness, but he activated blink at the last split second and escaped, reappearing beside one of the Superior stage Epics.
The man reacted instantly, throwing out a fist covered in divinity towards Arthur and knocking him through the air, in the direction of one of the Legendries who blitzed towards him with their body covered in divine lightning.
**BZZZTT!! ***BOOOMM!!!
An eruption of golden lightning tore through the air with a deafening crack, illuminating the surroundings with its radiant brilliance.
The explosion unleashed a cascade of electrifying energy, scattering sparks like celestial fireworks.
However, it didn’t last long as a contrasting wave of silver anti-divinity manifested, colliding with the golden lightning in a clash of opposing forces.
The collision didn’t last long, but it left a dazzling display in the sky as the two powers intertwined and neutralising each other, leaving behind only remnants of fading light.
Arthur flew up into the skies, clicking his tongue as he noticed that his shirt had now been turned to nothing more than rags and the golden energy of the law of lightning was impeding his regeneration.
’This lightning is more potent than that guy’s destruction...I should get his divine spark.’
He looked down at the incoming legendries and folded his wings, using his law energies to aid gravity in pulling him back to the ground.
The boy’s body shot back down to the earth, a thick barrier of distorted gravity surrounding him and bending all the magical light attacks that came his way and crushing the earthen projectiles.
He released the effect of the law energy and flipped his body before landing on his feet at the last moment, taking a deep breath as he looked up at the incoming Legendries and thought to himself.
’I’ve reached my limit. I can’t hold it back any more.’
"Defeating Five Inferior Legendries who are really trying to kill me is a bit hard for the current me."
**BOOMM!!!
Arthur dodged the barrage of flaming lances that came his way as he continued his words.
"I can win against 1 if I play my cards right. But against two, I’d have to start thinking about how to book it just in case."
**BZZZTT!!!!
**SWISHH!!! *CLANGG!!
Celestia flashed and collided with the sword of one of the Legendries, barriers of earth erupting behind him to block the lightning projectiles coming from behind while he controlled Lostvayne to send two overhead destructive slashes at the other two Legendries who tried to flank him.
"Against 3 or 4? I normally would have either pulled out my special artifacts, or I’d have long teleported away."
Sparks flew through the air as he and the demigod clashed blades with enough force to turn the ground under them to mush.
The sounds of metal clanging echoed across the area, each strike accompanied by the sound of shuffling feet as they moved with incredible speed, their movements turning into a blur as they parried and countered, inflicting serious wounds on each other.
"But 5? I’d die if I get hit by even one Simultaneous attack from them all. Heck, even your earlier stunt would have taken me down for the count if I was hit head-on.
I’m kinda special, so it would not have killed me though."
The boy kept talking as he swung his sword; immense power being carried in the blade as the law of swords turned his every slash into a deadly force capable of cleaving through armour and bone.
Like before, their clash was too fast that the other demigods found it hard to interfere without risking injuring their ally.
However, this clash ended shortly, as Arthur suddenly backflipped and took distance.
They took advantage of this and tried to rush forward, but the boy only gazed at them calmly and spoke.
"Since I can’t kill you easily as you’re Legendries, I’m gonna need you all to become Superior Epics okay?"
His words didn’t make sense to them, and before they could rationalize it, a profound sense of weakness washed over them, as if a heavy weight had been placed upon their shoulders.
Their vibrant magic and auras went dim and their divinity waned in potency.
It was as if their very essence had been drained, their powers diminished by an invisible force they could not comprehend.
The law energies they had condensed into their attacks fizzled out into nothingness as the nodes on their souls that allowed them to use law energies were shut off.
"?!!"
A sense of alarm and danger erupted within them, forcing them to cancel their attacking motions and pull back instantly.
It was then that they realised that the powerful auras of Inferior Stage Legendries were no longer exuded from their bodies.
They had fallen back into the Epic realm and the Superior Epics had fallen back to being Intermediates.
Before their brains could even try to compute what was happening, Arthur erupted with a burst of speed, appearing right beside one of the Intermediate Epics and thrusting out his fist.
The universal law of time bent to his will as the half-god’s movement was slowed by a great margin, allowing Arthur to easily punch a hole through her chest.
His hand burst out from her back, with golden blood and fragments of her shattered spine, with her still beating heart in his hands.
"Oh, you’re quite tenacious."
Arthur spoke as he watched the light go out of the demigod’s eyes while she coughed out blood and bone fragments.
He then pulled his arm back, tossing the heart to the ground and her corpse into his subspace.
"YOUR CURR!!!!"
"WAIT!!!"
One of the demigods screamed out in rage while another tried to stop her, but Arthur only used blink to teleport right in front of her, his outstretched fist coated in anti-divinity and the energy of destruction.
**BOOOOMMMM!!!!
His bloodied fist collided with the head of the dashing demigod, the impact echoing through the air, distorting the surrounding space as her momentum was abruptly halted and her body was propelled violently to the ground.
An explosion erupted, remitting omnidirectional shockwaves that knocked back the others who were dashing towards him, sending dust and dirt billowing and obscuring the battlefield in a swirling tempest.
The earth beneath them groaned and cracked, unable to bear the weight of the devastating force behind his fist.
As the dust settled, a gruesome scene revealed itself. The demigod’s skull had been obliterated, with golden blood and brain matter painting a macabre tableau on the ground.
"Hmm? They both had wolf tails...maybe they were siblings."
He wiped the golden blood off his face and then looked down, seeing that there was now a dagger embedded in his torso, evidence of the demigod’s last resistance in the face of her incoming death.
The purple blade of the dagger glistened as Arthur felt an external force invading his body.
"Poison that works better on devils, huh? Pity it’s quite useless on me."
The boy calmly pulled out the dagger, silver blood spurting out of the wound as he turned the weapon to ashes with his powerful flames while speaking to the soul of the dead demigod.
"You tried to kill me first. So, you can’t blame me for retaliating, regardless of the manner in which I did so."
The energy of the law of death receded from his pupils as he ignored the floating soul, damaged by his law of destruction’s energy to the point where reincarnation or revival was impossible.
"Eight left.... Not for long though."
