Chapter 250: Explanations and Picnics
"Why so surprised? I’m just a fragmented piece, how did you think that I was able to last this long?"
Although Inglis and Creusery could not sense cosmic energy, they could tell that something was up given how the energy concentration in the room nearly doubled within just a few seconds.
Even Cattleya who was occupied with Arthur turned around warily.
"Hmm? What’s going on?"
"Nothing serious."
"Are you for real, right now?"
Arthur asked while narrowing his eyes at the vestige, however, Lucifer had no intentions of telling him what was actually happening, leaving the boy no choice but to heave a sigh of exasperation.
He picked up the memory gem that had dropped on the ground at some point, before walking up to Creusery and fist-bumping him.
"Sup."
"Tired of dealing with the problems your disappearance caused."
"I can see that."
Arthur chuckled a reply at his uncle, before turning his gaze to the watch in his hands and asking.
"Have you guys found where Layla and the others are?"
"Yeah. They’re in the galaxy right next to this one.
We found them some time ago but they seemed to be embroiled in some situation there which they requested they deal with before they come back to where they were supposed to be."
"I see..."
An expression of relief momentarily flashed across Arthur’s face as he confirmed the well beings of his companions, before turning towards Inglis who had at some point, had begun dissecting what was left of the golem that Diablo eliminated.
’Guess I’ll leave her alone.’
The boy then turned around and was walking back to his mother, only for an idea to pop into his head, with a mischievous smile appearing on his face right after.
Cattleya who was facing Arthur, noticed this and instantly understood that her son was about to pull some sort of bullshit...again.
And this time, the unlucky victim seemed to be her elder brother.
Just as she was about to speak, she felt the essence of a particular threatening law move ever so slightly.
"Huh?"
Creusery also noticed this and turned his head, only to see a thin line of silver light heading straight for him, causing him to dodge it reflexively.
Looking at the thin slash of silver light that went on to slice through the sturdy walls of the room that they were in, the Devilian Crown Prince’s jaw couldn’t help but drop in shock.
"Tsk...I didn’t even manage to get a few strands of hair."
His nephew’s annoyed voice brought him out of his shock, turning his gaze back to see the sixteen-year-old who was now holding a semi-transparent sword in his hands.
Cattleya on the other hand, abruptly grabbed the boy’s hands and pulled off the concealment ring he was wearing, allowing all those in the room to be able to perceive the boy’s true realm of existence.
"Epic Realm..."
"This was supposed to be a surprise, you know?"
"I think it still ended up being one either way."
Lucifer replied to Arthur’s words while tapping his shoulder, only to feel a glare coming from the boy’s mother.
However, before she could speak, Arthur already took the liberty of explaining the meaning of her glare.
"This is the part where we begin to explain why she can sense the auras of multiple laws from me, as well as why I can suddenly use the destructive trio."
"Destructive trio?"
"Destruction, Extinction and Annihilation."
"Ohh...
Well...in that case, we have to fill her in on the past two weeks’ events then?"
"Yes, we do."

October 8th
Year 717 of the 50th General Calendar.
While Arthur and Lucifer were beginning their explanation to Cattleya, the quartet of Layla, Nicole, Esna and Edward were currently seated in a garden, basking in the morning sun while having what could only be called a picnic.
The scene would have been picturesque, if only you ignored the director and the four other academy officials who were cowering on the floor a few metres away from them.
"Can you stop pressuring them already? It’s not their fault that this happened."
Layla calmly spoke to the reason why they were cowering in fear, a black-clothed man who was silently sipping tea from a small teacup while emitting an aura that brought the five mid-tier deities to their knees.
"Even so, they should have reacted faster.
Why was I, who was in a different realm with the Lord, able to reach this place faster than they who got the information hours before I did?
The tracking devices on your watches were not damaged so they should have still been able to see your locations, yet they got to you all later than I did even though I received the information on your disappearances a good five hours after they did."
The man, one of Grand Duke Eryrth’s direct subordinates who Layla knew as ’Number One’, replied as he sent a glare towards the academy officers on the floor.
"My Lady, your Blueberry Crisp Yogurt Granola Parfait."
"Oh, thanks."
A maid wearing an orthodox Victorian-style maid uniform spoke to Layla while placing the dessert in front of her, causing Esna’s jaw to drop in shock.
"You’re gonna eat all that?"
"Yeah...why?"
Layla tilted her head to the side as she replied with a look of genuine confusion in her eyes as if she didn’t understand why Esna asked that question.
Nicole on the other hand just tapped the red-eyed girl on the shoulder and shook her head before saying.
"Get used to it, she likes eating large dessert portions."
"I don’t think ’large’ is enough to describe that."
Edward spoke up as he stared at the massive parfait in front of Layla, while internally asking himself if it was possible for grandmaster realm existences to have toothaches.
"You guys are all overreacting."
"""No, we aren’t."""
Number One chuckled lightly upon seeing the banter between the four of them, all while increasing the aura that was pressuring the officials on the floor.
"Are you sure it was okay for Dad to let you two come in person? You could have just sent clones, you know?"
Layla suddenly asked while alternating her gaze between Number one and the Maid who was refilling his tea.
"Just so you know, the lord was considering coming himself.
If he did, then I fear that these fools on the ground would have been six feet under."
"Come on, Dad wouldn’t kill them just for that."
In response to Layla’s words, the maid turned to her with a look of genuine shock on her face as she spoke.
"My lady, you seem to underestimate just how much the Grand Duke cares for your saf-!"
Mid-speech, the maid’s eyes suddenly narrowed as she glanced to the side, setting down the tea utensils in her hands and summoning a long spear of darkness in her hands.
Just before she and Number one took action, Nicole’s purple eyes widened in surprise as she called out to them.
"Wait! She’s a friend!"
"Huh?"
[She’s right. I’m a friend.]
A voice rang out alongside a small bursting sound as enormous amounts of water-attributed energy gathered behind Nicole and condensed together.
A woman with sea blue eyes and skin, possessing luxurious long curly sea blue hair that flowed down to her waist appeared behind Nicole and threw her arms around the young devil’s neck.
[If I was really hostile, then I’m sorry to say but you two wouldn’t have been able to do a thing about it.]
